Once again, a reminder I do all my ratings on zero going allowance so if the ground is soft I don't bet but at the moment they are saying it's good.
2:05 HAYDOCK - Sixteen runners in a class three handicap over six furlongs. There are six horses that have been known to lead: Polski Max, Bear Behind, Al Mukhdam, Run With Pride, who I think may not have the ideal conditions here to be involved in the finish, fifth possible pace maker is the top weight Barkston Ash who is well drawn in
stall sixteen and comes out sixth top on my ratings, while the sixth possible leader is Cruise To The Limit and this horse comes out second top on my ratings so if it does get to the front could be very hard to catch and its price 22/1 looks like it might be a each way bet. My third top rating Baby Strange is a hold-up type and could make the frame if it gets a clear run in this relatively large field. Top rated is *MUTHMIR but hasn't been seen on a racecourse for two hundred and seventy-three days so may need the run to gain fitness but being a only a four year old and has only run four times and could be open to improvement. Check out the odds on betfair because this second favourite could well be a double-figure price.
2:40 HAYDOCK - Ten runners in the Temple Stakes (Group 2). A cracking race with a rich heritage. Take a look at previous winners. Five of these ran in the same race three weeks ago at Newmarket where *SOLE POWER won by half a length despite having to be switched inside the final furlong when delivering its challenge. I expect it go in again unless the going turns soft. The favourite for this race is Hot Streak at 5/2, it was a 7/1 shot when third three weeks ago and on only two pounds better terms I don't think it's enough to turn the tables. Kingsgate Native ran to its best when second in the same race and is never one to discount lightly but think a place is the best he can hope for. For more racing news check out BBC Sport's horse racing website.
3:10 HAYDOCK - Now a fourteen runner listed race over six furlongs. There are three known leaders in the field: Perfect Blessing, who is a three year old and I think it's a bit early in the season for the youngsters to take on their elders, Indignant, who as a four year old is still open to more improvement but as of yet has only produced slow times at the distance on good ground or better, SPINATRIX, who is drawn well in stall fourteen for a front runner and is my joint top rated so has to have every chance and is the 4/1 favourite. The other joint top rated is Graphic Guest who can either be held up or track the leaders.
3:05 BEVERLEY - An eight runner five furlong class five race where six of the eight runners have been known to lead - so this race could be run at a frantic pace. SIX WIVES is my joint top rated and is one of the possible leaders but can also sit just off the pace and track the leaders and if it gets to the front may be hard to catch. Mey Blossom is well treated at the weights and is the other joint top rated and if the front runners burn themselves up and play into the hands of a hold-up type this could be the one to take advantage.
SUMMARY: 2:05 Haydock - MUTHMIR is 9/1 second favourite so obviously a big run is expected and if fully wound up for its first run of the season it has every chance. The one to take advantage if the selection isn't fully fit is the front running Cruise To The Limit who likes to lead and may be an each way shout at 22/1. 2:40 Haydock - I'm going for SOLE POWER 4/1 in this race. I can't see why any of those behind it last time out should reverse the form. 3:10 Haydock - Joint top rated SPINATRIX 4/1 could be in the front line right from the start and maybe hard for anyone to catch. 3:05 Beverley - Top rated SIX WIVES is a front-running type and looks to have a chance and at 9/1 and could be an each way tip. But if the front runners burn each out the race could be set up for the finishing Mey Blossom 15/2 which is probably a worthy saver.
