4:35 Thirsk Racing Tip (17th May) MARKET CROSS JEWELLERS HANDICAP (CLASS 3) (4yo+ 0-90)

Before I give my thoughts I'm looking at the three sprints at Thirsk. I just hope the going isn't on the soft side. It was called good (good to soft in places) so with a dry night and a sunny day it will hopefully be good by the time of the first race.

3:25 Thirsk - There are four possible pace setters in this race: Hoofalong, Keep It Dark, Six Wives (who I don't think will be fast enough to stay there till the end) the fourth possible front runner is Bronze Beau. This
horse is the natural leader and comes out third in my ratings so should stay on to at least make the frame.

I've got two joint top rated: Oldjoesaid, who is likely to track the leaders if possible but is capable of also being held up,  and Imperial Legend who has a similar profile to the other top rated in its running style. The trainer of this horse [David Nicholls] also has another horse in the race, Tax Free, with his son riding and this is in my top six so I can't discount either of his horses.

4:35 Thirsk - There are four possible front runners in this race: Space Artist, Polski Max (who I doubt will be involved in the finish) Chooseday and Barkstone Ash, who are fourth and fifth on my ratings. My third top rated is Robot Boy - who can either be held up or track the leaders - while my second top rated My Name Is Rio likes to track the leaders. Top rated is *BABY STRANGE, a hold-up type who can hopefully get a clear run. Good to see Robert Winston on board this time.

5:10 Thirsk - For the third time it's a race with four possible front runners: Hopes N Dreams, Pearl Acclaim and Kimberella (who I can't see being quite good enough to win). The fourth front runner is NOBLE STORM, who also happens to be my joint top rated. If it gets to the front it will be very hard to catch. The other top rated is Doc Hay but doubt he will catch the selection if it does lead.

SUMMARY: 3:15 Thirsk - I'm going to leave this race alone. I'm wary of Nicholls having two runners and he could use one horse to help his other to win. 4:35 Thirsk -If BABY STRANGE gets the gaps he could finish fast and priced at 20/1 its perhaps worth a small each way bet. 5:10 Thirsk - I'm hoping NOBLE STORM 9/1 can lead all the way here and at the price has to be backed each way just as insurance.

PS: as i said at the top check the going because if its on the soft side all bets are off.

*Baby Strange - Non Runner
