5:20 Brighton - Seven runners but this time there are two capable pace setters: Hit The Lights, who may need the run after 223 days off and its final times are quite slow, and Dreams Of Glory, who comes out second on my ratings and will be a real danger if it's allowed an easy lead. The top rated is DANZOE, who ran to its best last time out at Nottingham, when it finished fourth. It was a decent performance for its first run of the season.
3:15 Chester - A fifteen runner race. There are six horses that have been known to lead before and my top two rated are in the six so doubt the hold-up types will win here. Caspian Prince and Rusty Rocket have only produced slow times so doubt they will be able to lead here while Red Baron produced his best run at Mussleburgh and may be outclassed. The final three of the pace makers are in my top three: Ballista is my third top rated and drawn in stall seven may get squeezed out in the battle for the lead as the other two are drawn in stalls five and eight; Swendab did his best figure at Newbury but has been off the course for 225 days and may need the run; the top rated is Noble Storm, another that may need the run after 214 days off.
2:35 Brighton - Only six runners with only one known front runner - Clear Praise He's my second top rated so could get an uncontested lead and then will be very hard to beat. However, my top rated is Paradise Spectre. This horse may need the run after being off the course for 259 days.
SUMMARY: 3.15 Chester - My top two both may need the run so I'm going to leave the race alone. 2.35 Brighton - Clear Praise may get an easy lead and could lead all the way but is 7/4 favourite. But Paradise Spectre has got a better time but may need the run. Once again, I won't be having a bet. 5.20 Brighton - My top rated DANZOE 5/1 is the second favourite and will be my only bet of the day. The favourite at 9/4 is Picansort and it has been running very well on the all weather but it has had twelve races on the grass and has never won and its times have been poor so doubt it can win here.
WARNING!!!!! At the moment the going is supposed to be good at Brighton, while good (good to firm in places) at Chester. The weather forecast says showers so look at the earlier races before you bet if you can as all my figures are irrelevant if the going is on the soft side.
