3:30 Goodwood Racing Tip (8th June) VETERANS´ STAKES (Handicap) (CLASS 4) (6yo+ 0-85)

Lee has only produced slow times as of yet at this distance on good or good to firm going even though it likes to track the early pace. Swendab can either lead or track the leaders and is my joint fourth top rated so could have place claims. Slip Sliding Away can be held up or track the early pace but may find this trip too short so I expect it will be ridden prominently unless it gets outpaced which is more than possible. Fair Value is my other fourth joint top rated and is also a possible pace setter so could have place claims if one the top three don't run to their form. DOCTOR PARKES 9/1 is my top rated and can be held up or track the leaders. It has been off the course for 70 days but has won after a break and the trainer has a decent record at the track. Moorhouse Lad who likes to track the leaders and I know this race is for horses aged six or more but I think this one at eleven hasn't run very well lately and I doubt this race will be any easier. Kuanyao is either held up or tracks the pace but may find this trip too short so will have to be up with the pace if he's fast enough early on to go the pace. Rowe Park is another eleven year old I'm wondering if he's capable of coming back to winning ways here but on my figures, which are from 2012 to the present day, he does come out second best but does need real good fast going and likes to track the pace. Secret Millionaire is another that will try to track the leaders but would prefer a slower surface. Six Wives can attempt to lead or track the early pace and is my third top rated so could have place claims. Alpha Delta Whiskey may prefer a slower surface and has only produced slow times on good to firm going at this distance. Beach Rhythm is another who may prefer a slower surface and its times on good to firm have been quite slow.

SUMMARY: With five possible front runners this could be run at a fast pace if the going is good or better, but then if it's soft there's no bet, and three of them are in my top five, so hopefully set it up for a finisher and the top two both run off the pace but think second top rated may be too old nowadays so I'm suggesting a small each way bet on DOCTOR PARKES at 9/1.

Doctor Parkes 1st (adv) 9/1
