A big field with seventeen runners but it's rather strange only one horse has made the running before. You would expect it's fairly close at the top of my ratings; my third top is Don't Have It Then, who can be held up or track the leader; second top is Mon Brav, who is usually held up; while top rated DIAMOND LADY 16/1 is the one who has led before and if gaining an uncontested lead would prove hard to catch, It ran a decent race last time out to finish second when it didn't get to the front. It led at Doncaster (July 18th) last year and should be very competitive. At least an each-way bet.
5:00 Salisbury - Thirteen runners with three horses that have led before: Musicora and My Inspiration haven't achieved times fast enough to be in my top five but Langley Vale, the third possible leader, is my fifth top rated; third top rated is Slip Sliding Away a hold up or track leader type; second top rated is Tidentime, who usually tries to track the leaders; top rated is JOE PACKET 12/1, who likes to sit just behind the pace setters, so will hopefully make the frame if not win. Once again, an each-way bet is best.
5:45 Kempton - Only ten runners but this is the lowest grade possible being class seven. Volcanic Dust is the only known front runner and comes out second on my figures so should set a decent pace for the grade and with an uncontested lead could prove hard to catch. The favourite is First Rebellion. However, I think this horse may prefer a slower surface (like Wolverhampton) and also may prefer a sixth furlong. Top rated is BEFORTYFOUR 3/1 second favourite. This horse was running in class five not that many races ago and must have a realistic chance. Inconsistency is its biggest problem so stakes must be kept on the low side.
