-True Course went well when second three runs ago at Kempton in a class six race with a ceiling rating of 65. Its next run can be excused when upped to a grade five race over six furlongs. Last time out it was back to class six and five furlongs at this course when held-up showing its best form. A repeat of that form would win this contest.
-Jebediah Shine comes out second on my ratings from its run at Kempton where it led all the way if it does that here it could set it up for the selection to have something to aim at and a decent early pace will get rid of some of the other challengers.
-Bahango has been quite consistant with its races but has always found two or three too good for it and I expect it will find at least two too good here but probaly a few others as well.
-Robin Hill im not quite sure what course would suit this horse best but it did run against the selection and was beaten nearly five lengths and I doubt it will turn that around.
-Torridonian is making its handicap debut here and im quite sure the trainer has got it as low a rating as he can but I think it will be much better when it tackles a longer trip but cant be written off completely because two year olds can find and lose their form so quickly and without warning.
-Strategise has only produced slow times at this course at both five and six furlongs and add on the eighty days since its last run it doesnt look a likely contender.
-Mon Petit Fleur has had three runs all over this distance buts its times have all been quite slow plus its breeding points to it wanting quite a bit extra in distance to show its best.
-Diminutive has already had fifteen runs without success and its best form was when second over six furlongs at Lingfield but that time was very slow, so if it gets outpaced here I wouldnt be surprised.
- Tonis A Star won two runs ago in a time which would put it third on my list but last time out it was very reluctant to start and I wouldnt want to wager on it till it has shown its mended its ways but at its best it could get placed.
-Lydiate Lady ran behind the selection last time out and was only beaten about a length back in fourth but with the selection having a very good five pound claimer in the saddle here its not weighted to reverse the form.
-Junior Ben ran behind Tonis A Star two runs ago and is weighted to maybe just about reverse that form but was nowhere near that level of form last time out at Nottingham on good ground.
- Devilution has had three runs but all of them were very poor, those runs were over longer trips and I cant see this drop back to five furlopngs helping its cause.
SUMMARY: I would never go mad betting in a two-year-old race but TRUE COURSE [2/1] looks the best on what has been shown from limited data.
P.S: I put some lay bets up for Thursday's racing. However, I forgot to include a vital point: never lay a horse if priced over 10/1 because in my opinion this is the value cut-off point for methodology. I hope I didn't cause anyone to lose too much as one horse won at 16/1.
I will probably have more lay bets for tomorrow but I haven't concluded my thoughts yet but if there are any I will post them on the “Ericwinner” Facebook page.
