Twelve runners in a lowly class six race where only half the field have achieved times good enough to register on my scale or graphs. There are three horses that have been known to lead before and Salvado is the best of these being fifth on ratings, Hatta Stream is third top and usually tracks the leaders, second top is Catalinas Diamond who also likes to track the pace setters. Top rated and my selection once again is HAMIS AL BIN 6/1 and it doesn't happen very often where a horse comes out top rated but at different tracks and this was my selection when it won last time out at Wolverhampton. This horse is a hold-up type and likes a fast pace to aim at but one word of caution is that the trainer has got two runners in the race which I hate and being an old cynic makes me think fiddle plus the other runner Indian Affair is one of the possible front runners. Adam Kirby in the saddle and a stall two draw I doubt its good enough to lead all the way but if that is their plans it might make mine a non trier so keep stakes on the low side but then again it could be in the race to ensure there's a fast early pace. As you can probably gather I'm a bit confused but I'm hoping it's the latter and the selection comes home strongly like last time out.
3:05 Kempton - Twelve runners again but a slightly better class five race. But there's only one known front runner in the field (I put known front runner because it has led before but in a race like this which hasn't got many front runners something else and usually near the inside rails decides to change its normal tactics and go from the front and I've seen quite a few win this way but it does mess up my thoughts because I try to picture how a race could pan out but there's nothing I can do about it and its a part of racing and all I'm giving is my own opinion, which I hope is a little better than most in sprints) that is Rigolleto who is my third top rated, second top is Pabusar, who has ran on the all-weather fifteen times before without winning so it could make the frame, but doesn't look like it wants to win. Top spot leader is DIVINE CALL 16/1 who can be held up or track the leader and a repetition of its last run on this course when third behind Stellarta three runs ago would be enough to win this race. With those generous odds I have to say back it each-way.
SUMMARY: 1:05 Kempton - I'm hoping Indian Affair is in this race to make sure its stablemate and my selection HAMIS AL BIN 6/1 gets the fast early pace it likes so it can finish strongly and hopefully wins again.
3:05 Kempton - I always worry when a horse might get an uncontested lead and it could happen today with Rigolleto and it could save something at the finish to try and repel the others but my selection DIVINE CALL 16/1 does have a few spots in hand and a reproduction of its last run at this course would see it win this quite comfortably. I'm very surprised at the odds but it means I have to say go each-way for insurance just in case it doesn't get a clear run or some other problem.
