An apprentice claiming race - so straight away it's not a race to bet heavily. Only six runners. Kodafine is the only known front runner so could be a danger if gaining an uncontested lead. Arctic Lynx has no form over this course and distance but looking at some of its other form it could be a hidden danger. My ratings detail only one spot between Monsieur Jamie and Shawkantango. I don't think it's a positive with the apprentice riding the latter horse so MONSIEUR JAMIE 3/1 becomes the selection. Keep stakes to a minimum.
1:50 Southwell - Eight runners but no known front runner. It could be a strangely run race. Spitfire is fourth top rated. Lucky Mark beat Amenable last time out but is now eight pounds worse off for beating it a length-and-three-quarters and makes it just two spots between them, so too tight to call. Top rated is SPEIGHTOWNS KID who finished second last time out but just doesn't seem to know how to get its head in front. I don't think the jockey helps its cause. I have to go with my top rated but stakes will be very small.
7:15 Wolverhampton - Thirteen compete with two known possible front runners: River Dreamer and Little Choosey who is fourth top rated. Third top spot goes to Studfarmer who hasn't been in the best of form. Second top rating goes to Diamond Vine who usually likes to track the leaders. Top ranked is TRENDING who can be held up or track the early pace but the jockey has only ridden one winner from fifty-one rides so it doesn't inspire much confidence.
SUMMARY: 12:50 Southwell - Six runners it has to be a win bet on MONSIEUR JAMIE 3/1. Being an apprentice claiming race keep stakes to a very minimum.
1:50 Southwell - SPEIGHTOWNS KID 11/2 is top rated and once again it has a few spots in hand but this is the third time it has been a selection without winning. It ran a respectable second last time out over course and distance but I have to err on the side of caution and keep the stakes small. 7:15 Wolverhampton - A lowly class seven race and only five have registered on my graphs. Top rated TRENDING 4/1 has good trainer statistics apart from the fact the apprentice jockey David Parkes, who has only ridden one winner from forty-two rides. However, the horse is high in the weights so the seven pound claim could pay dividends. Small stakes today.
