A poor class six race. I'm already on the back foot in terms of level of stakes. Once again, SPEIGHTOWNS KID 33/1 is my top rated but this time it's the top weight against supposedly lesser opposition. It has been thereabouts in a few recent races but not quite winning. At the price, I'd advise an each-way bet. I'm not sure if the horse wants to win so it would, maybe, better if you backed place only on a betting exchange.
2:30 Southwell - Only seven runners so it has to be given as a win bet only. River Dreamer could be one of two horses that might try to lead here but it's not shown much form so its not for me. Second top rated is Gaelic Wizard, who usually tracks the leaders, and may prefer an even longer trip. Top rated is MANDY LAYLA 10/1 who could lead all the way here and the only dampener on my thoughts for the selection is the stable hasn't been in the best of form lately. There's only one hidden danger in Risk N Reward 5/4. That horse could be anything and I've now seen it has been made such a short priced favourite someone thinks it's going to do well here. As usual, I stick with the proven facts & fastest horse.
7:40 Wolverhampton - Not a bad class four race. Three horses have been known to lead. Dissent is fifth top rated. Angus Og, who hasn't any form on this course since the new surface was laid, may be better off on a slower surface. My third top rated horse is Rich Again who can be held up or track the leaders. Second top is Invincible Ridge, who usually likes to track the leaders. Top rated is RODRIGO DE TORRES 16/1 who is the only confirmed front runner and a reproduction of its last run at this distance would be enough to win. Its last run over 7f can be discounted and it was only last August when it was running in a class two race on good to firm ground. It won a class two race in July on good to firm going, which means it ought to like this surface. At the price it is a worthy each-way bet.
