With no older sprint racing I've been tempted to solve a three-year-old handicap - it's the nearest I could find. Obviously, there's a lot less information for me to work with these younger horses and any have the potential for improvement, so keep stakes to a minimum if you bet at all.
Three of the ten runners have led before. Penalty Scorer is drawn in stall two, Air Of York, five, and Toni's A Star, seven, but none achieved top three times. Penalty Scorer is fourth top ranked.
Colombia has a seven-pound claimer riding, which takes it from third spot into second.
Desert Apostle was originally second best rated but drops to third with the apprentice's weight advantage on Colombia. However, this hasn't affected the rating for top rated YA HALLA who won three runs ago and then tried six-furlongs, where it didn't appear to stay the trip.David Evan's filly ran poorly at Lingfield last time out but now switches back to its preferred surface. If recapture its best form and John Egan taking the ride it should bode well. Egan has won seventeen percent of his rides for the stable and is showing a decent level-stakes profit.
I would normally be a little concerned being drawn in stall ten but the early pace of others might be to its advantage. Hopefully it can find a good, early position and strike in the final furlong.
SUMMARY: As I've said stakes should be kept in check just because this can be a difficult race type with young horses. YA HALLA 12/1 looks more than capable of winning this race as long as it can get a decent early position from which to strike. At the odds this has to be given as an each-way selection.
