1- Satchville Flyer may find this trip a little on the short side but it still comes out top of my figures. It has been dropped to where it's top weight but in a lesser class. If it gains a clear run from a fair draw in stall five this race could play into its hands.
2- Soul Instinct is in my top five but exactly where to put it is difficult because the apprentice on board has had twenty-five rides for the stable without a win so that doesn't inspire any confidence. However, this horse is quite versatile with its running style .
3- Studfarmer is fourth top rated and can be held up or track the leaders so it must have some degree of a chance to make the frame.
4- Duke Of Dunton has only shown poor course and distance form. It may find this trip on the short side so I doubt it will feature at the finish.
5- Doctor Hilary is fifth top rated on its best time, which it recorded at Kempton, and can track the leaders or be held up but may struggle to win this race.
6- Saved My Bacon has had seven runs on the all-weather without winning. It may prefer a slower surface and a shorter trip, which doesn't enhance its chances.
7- Tolly McGuiness has only produced slow times at this distance at both Lingfield and Kempton and I can't really work out its best trip as on some runs it looks like this is too far and on other form lines it might need further.
8- Classical Diva has had seven runs on the all-weather without a win and its times have been on the slow side so doubt it will feature.
9- Steel City Boy looks like the most likely leader especially when its been dealt the prime draw in stall one. On its best time, from Kempton, it comes out second top. It had two runs over this course and distance and finished second in the first of those two races so it should be thereabouts at the finish. If it gets an easy lead it could be very hard to catch.
10- Senora Lobo isn't in my top five and after ten all-weather runs it still hasn't won. I doubt that will change in this race.
SUMMARY: It's not a great race but I'm thinking Steel City Boy 20/1 will try to lead all the way from stall one and could be hard to catch so I wouldn't put anyone off of backing it each-way at the price. Top rated SATCHVILLE FLYER 5/2 could really do with a longer trip but does look a worthy favourite, so if the former goes off at a decent pace it could play into the stamina of the selection and it can come home the stronger.
Satchville Flyer 5/2 1st
Good shout for Steel City Boy punted from 20/1 2nd. Sure a few were tempted by that old timer if not the Exacta.
