Only six runners but still quite a hard race to weigh up as there is not much form to work with on this new course; two other courses Lingfield and Kempton have the same surface to give us a bit more to work with but the times here at the moment are relatively fast compared to the median times. Upavon comes out top if I use Kempton times but top rated in my eyes is MALAYSIAN BOLEH 7/2 who has recorded a fast time here but its times at Kempton have been slow so depending on prices I would back the selection but have a small bet on UPAVON 6/1 as a cover.
8:45 Kempton - Twelve runners with six having been known to lead before so it should be a fast run race for a class six event. Red Cossack, drawn two, Baltic Prince, drawn 7, Misstemper, drawn 5, Quickaswecan, drawn eleven, Shaft Of Light, drawn six, Peter Island, drawn twelve. Baltic Prince is top of these possible front runners and fourth best rated and is ridden today by seven pound apprentice Tom Marquand, who hasn't ridden for the stable before, plus the trainer has sent fourteen horses to Kempton without winning. My third top rated is QUINTA FEIRA 6/1 who ought to go better over further but with hopefully a fast early pace this one could benefit plus it is ridden by Jamie Spencer, who has ridden two winners from seven mounts for the yard, so they must fancy their chances. Second top rated is Jay Bee Blue. However, the jockey on board has ridden twenty times for the yard without a win so that puts me off this one. Top rated is DANZOE 25/1, who may need to be held up to get this trip, looks like the race might pan out, although might not get the distance in a fast run race.
SUMMARY: I never desert my top rated so DANZOE 25/1 has to carry some of my money but I'm not sure it will get the trip so I'm going with also backing QUINTA FEIRA 6/1 who could benefit from a fast run race, so with the two of them we should have the race covered and a profit whichever horse wins.
