With no proper sprint for me to analyse my eye turns to this poor selling race over 5f on good to firm going. Just five horses: four geldings and solitary filly.
1— Haajes usually tracks the leaders but I think it's better on a softer surface so if the going is good to firm as stated then I doubt this ones chances.
2— Mon Brav can be held up or track the leaders and on its best time, which was recorded at Ripon, is in third spot.
3— Bedloes Island has won on a flat course before - when winning at York - its best time was from Ripon and that makes it top rated.
4— Mr Mo Jo is possibly the horse that will try to lead so it could improve with an uncontested lead. Its best time was recorded at Hamilton. It has run adequately on a flat course although without winning.
5— U Think Your Funny is a three year old receiving lots of weight from its elder opponents. It has only had two runs so has no official handicap mark but its form in those two races has been very poor and I've no idea exactly how good or bad this horse may be.
SUMMARY: Not a race to get too involved in but I think it can very quickly be cut down to three possible winners. Then, there's quite a gap in times between the second and third rated so it's between Mr Mo Jo who could lead - could improve with an easy lead. Also, there's the fact that it has never won on a flat course. Strictly on times, the top rated BEDLOES ISLAND 7/2 ought to pick it up nearing the finish. I am always wary of whether a stable wants to sell their horse so keep stakes on the low side.
