1—Signore Piccolo would be my fourth top rated using its best time from Haydock last year, its not got near that since and its only recent win was on soft going so I'm not sure if this one is capable of repeating its best time and its never won off this high of a handicap rating but is versatile with its running style.
2—Secret Look this horse hasn't recorded any fast times at this distance but I think that's more to with it preferring some cut in the ground to show its best, it did win at Newmarket in 2013 on good ground but even then the time was quite slow.
3—Native Falls is my top rated from a time recorded at Ayr but it has also won on an undulating course like this, it hasn't been in quite such good form this season yet but only being a four year old I do think it will come back to form but probably does need good to firm going to show its best time-wise, which is to be expected, but it can handle good going as well and this one can either track the leaders or even lead.
4—Best Trip is now an eight year old and its recent times have been slow and has been doing well with some cut it the going and maybe wont be as good if the going is good to firm or firmer.
5—Layla's Hero hasn't ever won before on its first run of the season and it hasn't run since October last year although its third top on my figures I doubt it will run to that mark here.
6—Celtic Sixpence looks like it needs soft ground to win at this distance and may need further on good or firmer going so not on my list of likely winner.
7—Furas hasn't shown any decent form on turf and good or better going and its win on the all-weather at Kempton was a slow final time but being a four year old it could still have some improvement to come so cant be discounted easily but I am going to leave it alone until it shows some degree of an improved performance.
8—Another Royal is my second top rated from a time at Carlisle last year and ran a decent time when fourth at Carlisle and then won last time out at five furlongs but in a slowish time but this extra furlong suits it better and I expect it to be thereabouts at the finish.
9—Solar Spirit has got slow times at this distance and may prefer a longer trip which would take it out of my realms of being a sprinter so I doubt it will be involved in the finish here.
10—Windforpower can be held up or track the leaders but its finishing times have been quite slow so I doubt this race will be within its range.
SUMMARY: I think I can get this race down to two horses and I'm suggesting backing both NATIVE FALLS 12/1 who I think is capable of winning this race but does need to improve on its most recent runs and times but has been doing a little better than the bare results show, ANOTHER ROYAL 9/2 has shown its well being by winning last time out over five furlongs and I think this extra furlong will suit it even more, so we can back both of these to show a profit whichever one wins.
Native Falls 12/1 2nd
Another Royal 9/2 6th
