Class six affair with ten runners but only Ms Eboracum known as a front runner, strictly on form its held by the top weight on their last run eight days ago but that day it could only chase the leaders but it could get an uncontested lead here but I'm not sure even then it can turn the form around but it could improve a little, Lucky Mark is my third top rated and ran second to Speightown Kid last time out in the same race again and with a four pound turn around at the weights should make it quite close between them but that race wasn't run at a breakneck speed early doors and I doubt it will here but I'm siding with FORTINBRASS 3/1 who won last time out in a decent time and a repeat of that time should be enough to win here but consistency isn't a keyword at this level but they are running the horse under a six pound penalty before the handicapper can re-assess its rating and I think they are doing the right thing.
2:10 Southwell - Class five this time but down to nine runners but with three that have been known to lead but mainly two that I think might try to lead all the way, Spowarticus could lead but is only sixth on my times so may not be able to stay there against all of these, Ago Of Innocence is my third top rated and won two runs ago so looks in form, the four year old Boolass looks well weighted on its best time but might really need a longer trip to show its absolute best, my top spot is ALPHA TAURI 10/1 who is also a front runner and might be able to get to the front against these and dictate the pace and then keep enough in reserve to repel all challengers but the jockey has ridden twenty eight times for this stable without a winner so that statistic tempers my confidence but may be worth a small each way punt just in case the lack of winners has just been coincidence and nothing more like using the jockey on non triers just to get information for another day and will at least get a place.
3:40 Southwell - A poor apprentice class six race and I very nearly didn't bother with the race as it looked that dire but then when I thought I had found the edge my next thought turned to how good was the apprentice employed on SIR GEOFFREY 13/2 who has failed to lead the last twice over course and distance but at the time of writing there's no jockey booked so I will have to come back to the race when the jockey is announced, I'm hoping its a decent lad or lass who can take the horse straight to the front and lead all the way and I do think this looks an easier opportunity than its had recently, the girl taking the ride has only won six races and they are all on all weather courses, so even though shes not ridden a winner from three previous attempts at this course if she takes it to the front from the off and sets a proper pace she could break her duck but stakes will be low.
Fortinbass 3/1 2nd
Aplha Tauri 10/1 2nd
Sir Geoffrey 13/2 2nd
