3:25 Newbury Winning Racing Tips (26 Nov) Hennessy Gold Cup Chase Handicap (Grade Three)
Trainer Colin Tizzard could be set for another big race win on a Saturday with Native River (11/2) in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. Cue Card’s victory in the Grade One Betfair Chase last weekend would have given the yard a huge boost and they can have more success with this talented six-year-old.Native River won three races in his novice campaign. He got off the mark in a Grade Two contest at the Hennessy meeting 12 months ago, beating Un Temps Pour Tout by just under four lengths, while he was also successful at the Grand National meeting in the ’ Chase.
All that experience last season should stand him in good stead to have a big campaign in 2016/17 starting with a win in the Hennessy Gold Cup.Native River ran a solid race on his last start in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby where he led jumping the last but was touched off by Silsol. That outing would have been used for conditioning more than anything else so to see him go so close is a huge positive for backers of the horse on Saturday.2.55 Newcastle Winning Racing Tips (26th Nov) Fighting Fifth Hurdle (Grade One)The Fighting Fifth Hurdle has attracted a small but quality field at Newcastle and looks to be real value here with the filly Apple’s Jade who can be backed at 4/1 win Paddy Power to beat her opposite sex in this 2m contest.
Gordon Elliott’s runner finished second last season in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival where Ivanovich Gorbatov just got the better of her by under two lengths. Those placings were then reversed at Aintree in a juvenile hurdle where Apple’s Jade annihilated thefield by 41 lengths.A second Grade One of the season followed at the Punchestown Festival for the four-year-oldas she ended the season as one of the most exciting hurdling prospects in the UK and Ireland.Apple’s Jade made her seasonal reappearance at Down Royal earlier this month where she was surprisingly beaten after going off 1/2 in the betting. She may well have just needed that run so expect to see a fitter horse at Newcastle. If she lives up to the promise of last season, she will be in the mix at the very minimum.
