2:10 Southwell Racing Tips (24th Jan) BETWAY SPRINT HANDICAP (CLASS 6) (4yo+ 0-60)

racing tips
This is a poor class 6 race and of the 14 runners I've only got 3 that have gone fast enough to register on my figures, I've marked 9 down as having at least one negative against their names, Life Of Ame could be a potential danger as its one of only two that's been known to lead before but usually only when nothing else wants to and that may not be the case here but its had 12 runs without winning but hasn't run on this surface before so could be dangerous if leading and taking to the surface but I'll as usual go with the proven, 3rd top is Treaty Of Rome and this one may need further and to win at this distance it may need a very fast early pace which might not happen here, the 2nd top spot goes to Spowarticus who is the most likely leader and has been caught from the front in its last 2 races over this course and distance but not beaten too far so must have at least place claims here but its been drawn in stall 14 which doesn't help at all but could be okay with very few others likely to want to battle for the lead, top spot is FORTINBRASS 8/1 who was a little unlucky last time out over course and distance and will have something to aim at and if the leader weakens nearing the line this one could prosper but stakes cannot be too big.

3:10 Southwell -

This looks a very nice class 2 race but also very tricky to analyse to come to a definite conclusion, it's over the straight 5-furlong course so the draw won't be too important and it should be a true run race with 4 of the 10 entrants being known as pace setting types, I can't find any horse that I can discount completely but Encore D'or might not like this surface and that's the only negative but it's never run on this surface so I can't be 100% positive, Lady Nayef has won its last 3 races but all in class 5 and 6 races so not sure if this step up in class will be too much for it but we know its fit and in form, Bowson Fred and Lightscameraction are possible pace setters if they take to this surface but neither have run on it before, both Distant Past and Top Boy have never run on the surface as well and could be dangers if they like the surface, Poyle Vinnie was a course and distance winner in 2014 but hasn't had more than 1 run over course and distance since then, on just speed figures I've got Razin Hell in 2nd spot but only 0.03 of a second off SHOWDAISY 9/1 in top spot but they have been running in class 3 races but the selection has only just turned 4 so could have some improvement still to come but any stakes will be kept low with so many uncertainties but at least it ought to be a race to watch and savour.
