3:00 Southwell Racing Tips (10th February) BETWAY BEST ODDS GUARANTEED PLUS HANDICAP (CLASS 3) (4yo+ 0-95)

A very nice looking class 3 race with 11 runners and 5 that have been known to lead before and the race could be fast and furious over this straight 5 furlong course, Lady Nayef is my 4th top rated and the highest of those that don't usually lead so it looks likely to be won from the front, my 3rd top rated is Razin Hell who is held just by 1lb by Showdaisy when they met here in November but did finish ahead of it last time out when Showdaisy missed the kick and was at the back of the field which is alien to when it's going to record its best but my top rated is BRING ON A SPINNER 5/1 who is another front runner but finished behind Razin Hell and Meadway when this one also missed the kick and was never really going well enough to recover but it was made favourite that day and if away on level terms this time out should have every chance to reverse the form and the trainer has a good record here with 4 -18 winners with his older horses and the stables 3lb claiming apprentice jockey will enhance their chances even further.

A class 6 claiming race which is always the type of race to be worried about as I'm never sure if the connections want to get rid of their horse and hence whether they are going to try or not but non-triers can be a problem in any race, Touch The Clouds and Archie Stevens are the 2 pace horses in the race but are also my bottom 2 ratings and the latter looks the most likely of the pair to lead as I'm not sure this surface suits the former, Harwoods Star is 3rd best but may prefer a longer trip which leaves me with Piazon who has been running consistently well lately and is favourite but it could be running here because it's in the handicappers grasp when it comes to running in a handicap and this does look a decent opportunity in many ways but Elusivity came back to form last time out when winning a class 5 handicap over this course over 6 furlongs and did a fast'ish time and just as efficient at this course over this shorter distance but on official figures its 7lb inferior to Piazon and only gets 1lb then there is a 7lb claiming apprentice on Piazon which makes the task very difficult on official figures and maybe the race is best left alone.

This 8 runner class 4 race is quite hard to solve, the only 1 I've gone against completely is Elysian Flyer, for obvious reasons, then 4 I've marked as possibly better than they have shown so far then Silhuette is my 3rd top rated and Among Angels 2nd top but both are a few spots behind SLINGSBY 9/2 who is also 1 of 2 known front-runners in the race, with the possible hidden dangers any stakes will be low but the price is maybe worth a small wager.

Slingsby 9/2 1st
