5:25 Newcastle Racing Tip (2nd February) Sprint Handicap (Class 4) (3yo+)

Horse racing
A race with 9 runners over 5furlongs and surprisingly only 2 that are known as front running types and the bottom weight is one of them but it might struggle to lead at this distance as it looks better over a longer trip but still comes out 5th top on my ratings and I make it quite close between 5th to 2nd spot, with Royal Brave 4th top, Aprovado 3rd top and Just Us Two as my 2nd top rated and anyone of them could make the frame if things go their way but it is a straight course so less likelihood of horses finding trouble in running but my top rated is NEW ROAD SIDE 10/1 who is also the most likely pace setter in the race and if getting the pace right from the front it could lead all the way for victory and I'm hoping gets fit enough to do just that after being off for 112 days but has won 1st time out after a break before and the jockey booking looks a positive sign that the stable are expecting a big run from the horse in this race and I'm always happy when a selection is big enough for me to have an each-way investment.

Another 9 runner race but over 6furlongs and again 2 that have been known to lead before, Silver Springs is one of the 2 possible leaders but is in stall 8 which isn't usually ideal but maybe not too bad in the make-up of this race unless any horse changes its usual tactics, in 2nd spot on my list is Wedgewood Estates who can be held up or track the pace setters and from stall 1 it ought to be able to get a good early position from which to try to attack but my top rated is the bottom weight LOUIS VEE 12/1 who is the 2nd known front running type and is berthed in stall 7 so if nothing else wants to lead on its inside it could gain control of the rails and keep enough in reserve to repel any late challengers and it's being ridden by a 5lb claiming apprentice to enhance its chances and the horse has won when ridden by an apprentice before so I'm hoping everything is pointing to the connections hoping for a big run here and at the price I have to go with an each-way wager.

5:55 CHELMSFORD (Div 2)
The 3rd 9 runner sprint of the day and for the 3rd time there looks to be 2 front runners in the field, Blistering Dancer has the best draw in stall 3 for a front runner but this one is 0-14 on the all-weather although none of them has been at this course but it looks like a slower surface would suit it better, the other known front runner is Mighty Zip but this one is only joint 4th best on my figures and the trainer-jockey statistics don't make me think it will be on its A game here, Multi Quest is the other joint 4th top rated, then I've got joint 2nd top rated horses with Krazy Paving and Tasaaboq but I've got NATIONAL SERVICE 13/2 as my top rated and is only the 2nd horse the trainer has sent to this course but weighing everything up it's not a race to be investing in too heavily.

National Service 7/1 Unp
