2:40 Newmarket Racing Tip (3rd May) PEARL BLOODSTOCK PALACE HOUSE STAKES (Group 3) (CLASS 1) (3yo+)

Dinkun Diamond likes to track the early pace and comes out third on my figures. It won a listed race on soft going at Doncaster the time before last and then a decent fourth in a group three. Its top time came in a class three race on firm going at Nottingham and I doubt if its really class enough to win here.

Eton Rifles may find this trip too short and it may prefer a slower surface so looks like this won't be his day.

Iptisam is either held up or tracks the leaders. I'm of the opinion that it isn't a five furlong horse and think it will find everything happening too fast.

Justineo is another who would most likely prefer another furlong even though it has won over course and distance. The time was quite a few pounds below what is required here and these are classy sprinters so it may not get near the front.

Kingsgate Native is an old friend of a lot of punters and has won some nice races but is now a nine year old and may need this run after being off for 209 days and isn't going to improve. If it can reproduce its best time of last season it could make the frame as its my third top rated but has become rather inconsistent nowadays.

Moviesta may also need a run to gain fitness being off for 253 days plus it may prefer a longer distance or a slower surface.

Pearl Secret has got good form on any going and is lightly raced for a five year old and ran his best race at Ascot on good going when it ran on quite well. But I wonder if these just might go a bit too fast for it but it has had a recent run at Nottingham but only against class three opposition.

Rocky Ground may need the run after 221 days off and it hasn't recorded a time that looks fast enough to be involved here.

SOLE POWER is my top rated and has had two runs in Meydan to gain fitness for this race, It's a real hold up type and usually flies late and fast and with Ryan Moore in the saddle it will have every chance.

Stepper Point is a front running type but seems to be quite a few pounds off what is required here and may prefer a slower surface to have any chance against this class of horse.

Hot Streak is only 13/2 but I would not be backing a three year old against older horses this early in the season added to that the fact that it may need the run after being off for 203 days and again the going might be a bit quick for it.

Extortionist is another three year old and also may need the run being off for 210 days and also may prefer a slower surface.

SUMMARY: SOLE POWER seems to have been prepared for this race with a couple of warm ups in Dubai. It's drawn in stall six of the twelve runners and can cover any move. If one side of the course is faster and with a clear run should pick them up inside the final fifty yards. Looks fair odds at 4/1.

Sole Power 4/1 (adv) 1st
