2:10 Southwell Winning Race Tips (27th January) Abi Scarlet Ontoawinner

There's only four runners in this class five six furlong race so the prices will be on the low side and probably not really worth betting.

(1) ABI SCARLET is my top rated and in good form for noted horse racing syndicate Ontoawinner. Its times recorded over this course and distance - resulting in it winning its last two races. It usually tracks the pace but I'm not sure exactly where that's going to come from in this race but someone or maybe more have to lead or try to lead and hopefully play into the hooves of the selection.

(2) Barbs Princess won well at Wolverhampton last time out at this distance but these two tracks are like chalk and cheese and has no form at this course. This mare can either be held up or track the leaders. It's in form but this surface is so different it's hard to know exactly.

(3) Musical Molly usually likes to track the early pace and in my opinion wants a longer trip but its figure over this course and distance is only just over two-lengths slower than the selections and it could attempt to lead all the way.

(4) If this was a five-furlong race I would be absolutely sure Six Wives would set the pace but it usually finds six-furlongs too far but if it gets an uncontested lead it could possibly lead all the way at a slower pace than usual and have some stamina left for the finish but I just can't see it winning.

SUMMARY: This is a tricky little race so stakes must be low and at the price available now isn't very inspiring. Six Wives 12/1 could try and get an easy lead and hold something back for the finish or it could be held-up to try and last the distance. Musical Molly 4/1 could also try and lead and looking like it might really want a longer trip it could set out to make it a strong pace up front and hope he can take the sting out of the others. Barbs Princess 15/8 won well in a fast time last time out at Wolverhampton and it could be that it's now in top form and if it takes to the surface could be a danger, despite all the if's and but's as usual I'll be sticking with the proven and be going with the selection ABI SCARLET 11/10. I think it will sit just behind leaders and then come home the stronger for its hat trick of wins.
