Eric's Weekly Round Up: The Lacemaker 100/30 + Walk On Walter 16/1 + £43.75 F/C

Friday, 6 February 2015

A class four sprint with ten runners and it looks like a decent race for the class with five of them being known to lead before. Mia San Triple may not really like the surface while the best drawn Brother Tiger hasn't returned a time to get into my top five so it might not get to the front. Gregori, from stall six, is my third top rated and Clearing from stall nine is my second top rated. The top rating goes to a horse I selected when it won last time out at 10/1 - COME ON DAVE (9/2) won very nicely that day leading all the way and it is drawn in stall three so has only got to beat Brother Tiger to gain the best position on the rail, and if getting to the front could win again.

3:45 Lingfield - An even better race this one being a class two affair but there's no known front runner. This could play into my idea and I just hope the trainer has the same idea about the tactics for his horse. Triple Chocolate and Go Far could be what I call hidden dangers but I always go with the proven rather than the what might be but it may temper the strength of the bet. Ballista is my second top rated but in reality I think it's a better horse over five furlongs so I think it will have to be held up to enhance its chances here. Top rated is BOOM THE GROOM 7/2 who has been running consistently well lately and it did lead all the way in a five-furlong race before and it could try the same tactics this time over six-furlongs. I'm hoping this horse can get to the front and set its own pace and leave enough in the tank to repel any challengers but with the two possible dangers I have to say be wary of betting too heavily.

4:20 Lingfield - A class five race with twelve runners - with two known front runners. Vincenti is naught from fifteen on the all-weather so even if it does lead I doubt it will win. Poetic Choice I have marked down as a possibly hidden danger so should it get an uncontested lead it could be dangerous, Clock Opera recorded a time good enough to win this but its recent times have been a lot slower so it could be another danger. Second top rated is Varsovian and this one will be finishing well as this trip might be too short. Top rated is the top weight MARJONG 9/2. It can be either held up or track the leaders and has got a decent draw in stall three to hopefully get a good early position and come home the strongest of all.

Come On Dave 9/2 2nd
Boom The Groom 7/2 5th
Marjong 9/2 4th
