Eric's Weekly Round Up: Musharrif 8/1

A nice class three race over the minimum trip nine runners with three known front runners, Keep It Dark hasn't shown enough for me, Soul Brother is my fifth top rated and Innocently is third top on the list so it should be a decent early pace, I had Adams Ale as my top rated but only by one spot and MAPPIN TIME 12/1 was second top but has a competent seven pound claimer on board which puts at the top of the pile, it comes out top depsite me thinking it would be even better over a further trip so should be staying on stoutly here and I'm hoping they go a little too quick up front so as to be tiring near the finish and play into the hands of this strong finisher and the price makes it an each way selection. The going at the moment is given as good to firm but there is rain forecast in some areas tomorrow so PLEASE PLEASE make sure the going is OK before having a bet and any softness means no bet.

4:30 Southwell - Only five runners but its a strange little race, I've only got one horse that's graded on my figures and that's Abi Scarlet, but I've also got Dilgura marked down as a possible danger but having had nearly six hundred days off it must have had some form of setback and could need this run for fitness and this isn't any easy low grade affair, even if most of it is potential and not so much factual, I've also got Threave down as a possible danger, I think this one would be better off over five furlongs but its the only front runner in the field so if it gets an easy lead and sets a pace so it can keep enough energy for the extra distance it could well hold them at bay but as usual I'm sticking with facts and giving ABI SCARLET 3/1, but stakes should be kept on the low side with the possible hidden dangers.

6:05 Windsor - A ten runner class five claiming race and not something I usually I bother with but I usually have a look and only blog it if I find something worthwhile as a selection and as usual it is dependent on what the going is like, it says good and good to soft and if it doesn't dry out then it will be not bet, Royal Warrior and Fleeting Indian could lead if nothing else wants to but there's two more obvious front runners in Prince Regal and Speed The Plough but none of them are in my top two, Doc Hay is second top rated but may be better at five furlongs which leaves me with JUBILEE BRIG, yes its got the top weight and isn't the best on official figures but is best on times for me. As its a claiming race there's no prices being given this evening but if its big enough go for an each way bet and I'm hoping here that the rain stays away long enough for this one to run but once again any softness means no bets.

Mappin Time 12/1 2nd
Abi Scarlet 3/1 2nd
Jubilee Brig 11/4 2nd
