1:20 Ascot Winning Race Tips (17th Oct) QIPCO BRITISH CHAMPIONS SPRINT STAKES (Group 1) (CLASS 1) (3yo+)

A big field of twenty runners in this Group One race and a few runners from foreign lands which is to be expected and it does look at first glance as though its going to be a tricky race but if the going is good or firmer I think I have got a picture of how the race might pan out though a big problem is where the early pace is going to come from as there're no confirmed front-runners in the field, something's got to lead but how fast the early pace will be is a bit of a guess but any softness in the going will as usual scupper my plans. Gordon Lord Byron is my fourth top rated, but I'm not sure if this type, of course, will show it too its best, third top is Danzeno who may be even better over a shorter distance so this tough course won't help its cause, second top is Eastern Impact who is only two pounds lower than MUHAARAR 9/4 and this improving three-year-old could win again here for its fourth win in a row, all three have been in this top class of racing, and five wins out of its last six races, its drawn in stall twelve which will give it the advantage of being able to go to whichever side of the course looks to have the advantage in the race and a reproduction of its time from Newmarket would be enough to win this and I'm not surprised to see it this low in what initially looks an open race.

No bet - soft ground.

3:25 Catterick - Fifteen runners in this class two affair with three what I would call natural front runners and all of them are drawn on the low side but I think the two of them, Astrophysics in stall four and Union Rose drawn three who are both three-year-olds might be carrying too much weight to be able to lead all the way in such a competitive encounter. I've got CAPTAIN DUNNE 33/1 from stall six marked down as my third top rated, but it's being ridden by a competent five pound claiming apprentice which would move it to top spot but the stable also has Confessional running with the stables top jockey on board and drawn in stall five so it might get squeezed out at the beginning and then it would be facing an uphill struggle to get back into the race but its joint fourth top on my figures so I do think the stable is trying to win the race and it could be close if they are both trying, but I'll stick with my now top rated and hope it can lead all the way, my original second top rated is Pearl Acclaim drawn in stall two and I am very unsure if this will get a clear run being drawn in stall two but the horse would probably be better over further so if it does get a good position early on it will be staying on at the finish. My top rated is FREDRICKA 8/1 drawn out in stall thirteen, but at least it should be well away from the early scrimmage as horses battle to get a good early place, this trainer has won at this course before and the jockey deployed today has ridden for them once before with success so I'm hoping it can gain a good early position tracking the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish so I'll be having an each way bet on both so if even Fredricka is the only one placed it covers the other bet.

No bet - soft ground
