Eric's Weekly Round Up: Mazzini 7/1

A strange little race with only seven runners and no known front runners so I'm struggling to map out how I think the race will be run, on official figures the best horse is Summerinthecity and if it was over six furlongs I would agree but it does struggle at this distance and if there's not a fast early pace it might not be able to use its stamina here, the next one best in on official figures is Thataboy who I have got marked down as my second top rated, this one can track the leaders or be held up, and only just behind the top rated Elusivity who has been in good form lately which has to count for something and this one usually likes to track the leaders and I'm hoping in this small field it might try to go from the front and I think I will be backing both ELUSIVITY 5/2 and Thataboy 4/1 to show a profit whichever one wins but any stakes will be on the low side.

4:00 Wolverhampton - A lovely looking class two race with thirteen runners but only two known front runners, Intibaah is drawn in stall eleven isn't ideally drawn to lead and I also have doubts that it could lead as I think it needs a slower surface, Anonymous John though is drawn in stall three and could get control of the rails and being my joint third top rated it could prove hard to catch for most of this field, I have got Another Wise Kid marked down as a possible hidden danger, its not run on this surface before and also I'm not convinced its as good over six as five furlongs but it could improve but from stall thirteen it might not be today, Boomerang Bob is the other joint third top rated but this one may need a degree of luck from stall ten to get a completely clear run throughout the race, Mappin Time has got the prime draw in stall one and being my second top rated it could get on the rails just behind the leaders but then again could get in trouble on the rails if Patrick from stall two also tried to get a good prominent early position but I'm hoping my selection, STEELRIVER 7/1 from stall four can get a good position close to the lead, it can hopefully either get out along sides the probable leader just on its inside and then make anything else go three wide to get a run or it can sit alongside Mappin Time in joint second or third position and then stay on the stronger at the finish.
