3:00 Beverley Racing Tips (16th May) Annie Oxtoby Memorial Handicap (Class 5) (4yo+)

racing tips
Not a bad class 5 race over the minimum distance, of the 14 runners I've only got 2 marked down as possible pace setters, Bond Bombshell is a possible pacesetter from stall 2 but its overall times have been slow but it could be a danger if allowed to dictate a slightly slower pace from the front but I doubt it will be given that honour, I've got my top 3 all virtually level so it will depend on how the race pans out to which one is most likely to win the race, Imperial Legend is drawn in stall 10 which is far from ideal and it usually stays on at the finish on slightly less demanding courses and this one hasn't run for the last 4 months and usually needs a run after a break to gain fitness, Henley is well drawn in stall 3 but isn't one to normally lead so if not careful it could get squeezed out on the rails in the early stages, it finished just in front of today's selection JACK LUEY 5/1 and they meet on the same terms but this easier course will suit the selection better as its the other known front runner and from stall 7 it ought to be able to get away smartly and either lead or vie for the lead, the trainer has a 2-11 win rate at this course and the jockey is 1-2 for this stable which looks to point to them expecting a big run here.

We go from a nice class 5 race to a dire one, of the 13 runners I've got 7 with definite negatives against their name and 2 others I could back but can't discard completely and only 3 with a time fast enough to register on my graphs, 2 of the 3 possible pace setters are, Spirit Of Rosanna who might be better off if there's some cut in the ground and Donttouchthechips who is 1 of those I'm not quite sure what to make of but it has got the stall 12 so that's in its favour, Showmethewayavrilo is my 3rd top rated and it's usually held up but if there's a fast early pace it might not stay the distance, my 2nd top rated is INDIAN AFFAIR 6/1 who from stall 11 could prove very hard to catch if it gets to the front but I have got DIVINE CALL 16/1 rated just ahead of it and this one is in stall 10 but if seems a better horse when the going is at least good to firm if not drier but they are both from the same stable and I think either of them could win, if the going is firm enough I will go with backing them both but if the going is only good then I would favour the front-running stablemate.
