ASCOT 4.45 (8.6)

A nice looking 12 runner class 2 handicap, I've discounted 4 who look lay material, I cannot believe there's no natural front runner among them but I think I can narrow it down to 2 selections, Evergate, Tarboosh, Blue Vega, Oriental Lilly and Golden Steps could all be battling for 3rd place or more if my top 2 fail to deliver the goods, my actual top rated is GRACIOUS JOHN 12/1 the stable has a record of 0-36 here in the last 5 years, that doesn't include any places, which doesn't fill me with confidence but the jockey has a 20% win rate for this stable so I'm not sure what to expect but I guess a lot of trainers struggle to have a winner at any class 1 track but just in case it doesn't perform I will also back ENCORE D’OR 6/1 at least the trainer has had 7 winners here in the 5 years but this trainer does have 2 other runners in the race, both in the 5 mentioned above, but that doesn't put me off, so I will go with the 2 bets.

Shame there's only 7 runners here so only 2 places, I can only discount Secretinthepark from my list with any confidence, Major Valentine is my 3rd top rated and it 1 of 2 front runners in the race so there should be a genuine early pace to the race, Broadhaven Honey is my 2nd best and could pick up the pieces if they go off too fast, top rated is EDGED OUT 11/2 who dropped in class last time out and its in the same lower class again here, there is an excuse for its last run because it didn't ever get to the front which is what it needs to win a race so it does have a better chance here compared to last time out so I'm hoping it can lead all the way here.
