7:00 Catterick Racing Tips & Lay Bets (22nd July)

CATTERICK 7.00

LUCKY BEGGAR this horse seems to need truly good to firm ground to show its best, it's my top rated and racing against inferior animals it could get back to winning ways here.

QAARAAT has only slow times recently and going back to its best from 2018 it would still need to improve to win this race.

GUARDIA SVIZZERA has only slow times in 2019/20 and its 2018 best would leave it a little short of winning this race and maybe a longer trip would suit it better.

B FIFTY TWO may need to be held up to get this distance, especially on good to firm going if there's a fast early pace but could possibly make the frame.

LINCOLN GAMBLE one of six 3-year-olds in this race and this one might be a better horse when tried over a longer distance but never say never with these young horses.

LADY MONICA has a time from Newmarket in 2019 that's not good enough to win this race, it usually races in midfield but not for me in this race.

GOSSIP this 3-year-old has one distance run on good to firm ground where it didn't really show much but it did stay on at the finish so a longer trip might help.

OUTTAKE exactly the opposite for this 3-year-old, it has looked over 6 furlongs as it doesn't stay the trip so a drop back to 5 furlongs might help its cause.

CARLOVIAN this is the horse that I think will set the early pace using its best time from 2019 it comes out 3rd best on my figures so could make the frame from the front.

ALEX GRACIE this 3-year-old hasn't run on turf before so I'm not sure what to expect but early indications are that it might be better dropped down in trip.

LADY NECTAR this 3-year-old hasn't any form at this distance and will may need a shorter trip to shine.

MIDNITE BRIDE has only a slow time at this distance but this race is this 3-year-olds first handicap run so it might have had its talents hidden in its 3 previous runs.

CONCLUSION: With half the field being 3-year-olds this isn't a race to go in all guns blazing trying to shoot down the bookie, if Carlovian my 3rd top-rated sets the right pace then it could make the frame and then the rest might struggle to get involved apart from my top two, 2nd top is B Fifty Two is capable of doing well here timewise but may struggle if there's a really fast early pace so I will be siding with the topweight LUCKY BEGGAR 15/2 who likes to track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish and taking on inferior opposition it looks to have been found the ideal opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Lucky Beggar 9/1 4th (-1pt)

Total on the day (-1pt)
