MERRY SECRET 5/1 hasn't any surface form and only slow times over this distance and may be better over further but I'm not sure enough to actually lay it although I doubt it will win.
SECRET HANDSHEIKH 6/4 hasn't any form on the Tapeta surface to its name but has a time from Southwell that would see it winning cosily and has the plum stall 1 draw for a frontrunning type and the price reflects that.
ONEBABA 10/1 is the only one with a speed figure for this year, 4th top overall, which is a positive but that figure is only 1 point above my minimum mark and usually stays on at the finish but in the make-up of this race might be worth a punt.
ICE AGE 16/1 no course form and a slow time from its one distance run at Newcastle and the trainers 0-28 here puts me off this one as does the price.
BOMBASTIC 11/4 has a slow time from its 1 c/d run this year but does come out 3rd top on overall figures using a 2020 time so could go well but doesn't look value at the price.
ROUNDEL 4/1 has poor trainer stats but no c/d form to look at and 2 runs at this distance at Newcastle resulted in slow times and is a 17 run maiden despise being a possible pacesetter but probably wont get its own way at the head of the race.
SUREWECAN 50/1 hasn't any c/d form nor any at Newcastle but it races as though further would suit it better and has poor trainer/jockey stats
Conclusion: I will look to lay Roundel 4/1, it might be prominent in the early stages but has to improve time wise and might be an even better lay in running on an exchange, I will have a covering bet on ONEBABA 10/1 who is the only one with a recent, 2021, time and has good jockey stats but my main bet will be SECRET HANDSHEIKH 6/4 who I hope will set the early pace and if taking to this surface and can repeat its Southwell time it would win a shade cosily but i am not a fan of backing favourites and it isn't guaranteed it will take to this surface but if it does then it should win cosily, so my stakes will be kept low.
