7:15 Ripon Racing Tips (8th August)

RIPON 7.15

BUNIANN is usually held up for a late run but would need to improve time wise to win this race if others run to their best so could be one to lay.

POINT OF WOODS if able it likes to track the leaders but I'm not convinced it likes fast good to firm ground, I expect it will be a double figure price.

COLEY'S KOKO can either race in midfield or be held up in the early stages of a race and then finish well and is my top rated and that is using a course and distance rating.

RED WALLS is another that doesn't seem to appreciate fast good to firm ground and time wise needs to improve but I expect it will be a double figure price.

HOT SCOOP races as though further would suit it better but it finishes fast over today's distance and comes out in 2nd top spot co could go well and maybe an each way bet.

FORESEEABLE FUTURE is one of two horses that have been known to lead before but it might have been flattered when finishing 2nd at Thirsk and maybe worth taking on.

CANARIA PRINCE the other possible pacesetter sits just outside my top 3 ratings but could do enough from the front to make the frame.

MARSELAN has poor recent form and hasn't won over this distance and might be better over further but I expect it to be an outsider.

ORCHID ROSE comes in 3rd top spot on my own speed figure ratings and is usually held up for a late run but hasn't been in good form lately.

THE GREY LASS a 3yo who looks likely to do better when racing over a longer distance and is still a maiden after 10 races.

ARRIANNIE a 3yo who has shown very little so far and I expect it will be a big outsider in this race.

SUMMARY: I think Canaria Price could set the pace here and my 4th top rated could maybe make the frame and Foreseeable Future 3/1 could make sure the early pace is a good gallop but I think it might be a shorter price than it merits because of its race where it finished 2nd at Thirsk and might be worth laying, I could look to lay The Grey Lass who may prefer further and is still a maiden after 10 races, Hot Scoop could stay on at the finish and might be worth an each way wager if its of value to bet, my money will be riding on COLEY'S KOKO 15/2 and being a hold up sort I hope that exactly what is does (KOKO means keep on keeping on, used a lot in the Northern Soul scene) and a repeat of its speed rating over this course and distance from last year it would win with a bit too spare.

Coley's Koko 15/2 4th -1pt

Lay bets Foreseeable Future -3.3pts, The Grey Lass +1pt

Total on the day -3.3pts
