7:40 Newcastle Racing Tips (23rd February)

NEWCASTLE 7.40

WATCHABLE 9/1 has poor trainer/jockey stats and has won once in 5 previous runs over this c/d, its quite a versatile sort when it comes to racing tactics and can lead but it hasn't shown much time wise since 2019.

LOMU 6/1 is another versatile sort but this ones best time was recorded in 2020 which is more relevant and has a recorded time for 2021 so is in decent form plus the trainer has a 21% win ratio here with their older horses, so it could go well and maybe worth backing each way if of value.

NORTH WIND 7/2 the jockey is 0-2 for the stable and the trainer has an average 10-12% win ratio at this course, its 2 previous c/d runs both resulted in slow times and could be a lay if not a double figure price.

DUKE OF FIRENZE 15/2 the trainer has a poor 4% win ratio while the jockey is 1-4 for the stable so that could be seen as good or bad, its one c/d resulted in a slow time and it would need to improve on its best Wolverhampton time to win here.

KIND REVIEW 9/4 is a front running type of horse, it has average trainer/jockey stats with 2 slow c/d times to its name, it could go well from the front but I doubt it will be enough to win the race.

PRINCE OF ROME 25/1 is the 3rd versatile runner in the race but with a slow time on its only previous c/d run and it would need to improve on its best figure from Wolverhampton to win this race.

SECRET VENTURE 25/1 hasn't been in good form lately and it has poor trainer stats 5%, I think it will be a much better proposition when tried over a longer distance.

BE PROUD 7/2 has won 4 times over this c/d from its 13 attempts and making the frame in 3 more of the 13 runs, it likes to track the leaders and they stay on towards the end of the race and this race could be run to suit it.

SUMMARY: With 2 natural front running sorts in the race plus 2 others that have been known to lead it could be a fast run dash over this straight 5 furlong course, my selection and top rated BE PROUD 7/2 is drawn in stall 3 with 2 front runners in stalls 1 and 2 it should get a nice tow into the race and then stay on resolutely at the business end of the race and then pounce as the front runners begin to fade nearing the finish.
