From Eric Winner: Since 2014

Since 2014, I have been sharing my daily horse betting selections on my Eric Winner page, which has garnered nearly one and a half million views. This suggests I must be doing something right.

My focus has been handicapping horses in five and six-furlong sprints purely based on speed, which has proven successful. However, as of last year, 2023, I noticed that horses which previously had higher odds now have single-figure odds. This indicates that my advantage has diminished.

If anyone is interested in learning how I used to speed handicap a race, I can share the formula with you. It's not too complex, but it does require some time to analyze each race at the end of the day. You also need to maintain each rating, ideally in a database or spreadsheet. My data pertains primarily to sprint races, where I believe speed is the key factor in finding winners. However, now it may be more effective when used alongside other data.

I have read that every method has a limited lifespan before bookmakers' algorithms catch up to it, and it appears that my days of speed handicapping are coming to an end.

Over the past year, I have searched extensively for a new betting method, but couldn't find an effective approach. So, I began to look at betting from the bookmakers' perspective and realized that laying horses was the way forward for me. This approach has been going well so far, and I have recently started sharing my daily lay selections on my Eric Winner webpage and Facebook page. If interested, you can send me a friend request on Facebook.

I hope some of my loyal viewers are following my lay bets, as they have been showing a good profit. I hope this success continues.

Best regards,
Eric Winner

I’m still here everyday.
Firstly thanks for the clarity and openness regarding the changing of the tides.
It happens as you say every method has a lifespan and once the value is eroded it is not easy to stop and reflect so it’s perhaps testament to yourself that you were able to come out and say.

Good luck with the lays I’m sure the results will continue to match the obvious time and effort .
