2:35 Southwell Racing Tips (21st January)

SOUTHWELL 2.35

Typical a nice class 3 race with decent prize money and only 7 runners are entered, *Spirit Of Nguru might need further to show its best and with no known front runner in the race it might not be run to suit it so maybe worth laying, I have got JUSTCALLMEPETE 5/4 as my top rated on course and distance ratings, it has won its last 3 races and has been stepped up one level in class but it seems to be an improving horse and has to have every chance of completing the four-timer in this race.

LINGFIELD 3.22

Lord Riddiford, La Roca del Fuego and The Bell Conductor have been known to lead before but i think the top weighted The Bell Conductor who has won 4 from 5 races its had on an artificial surface but is now racing off an official rating of 95 which might be above where its capable of winning so I couldn't back it. Silky Wilkie seems a better horse over a longer distance but will be staying on nearing the finish but whether it will get there in time I'm not sure but it would be enough to at least put me off backing it. STRONG POWER 9/2 is usually held up for a late run where it stays on powerfully nearing the finish and has been racing in higher class affairs compared to this class 3 race and has good trainer/jockey stats which is usually a positive and will be carrying my money.

SOUTHWELL 3.45

This is one of those poor class 6 stakes races where they all carry the same weight, there's 12 runners with just one known front running type amongst them and that one could lead all the way here. I think Paddy K and Danah Star might need further to show there best so I will lay them if of value to do so along with Gorgeous General who is better over a shorter trip, I will be backing USTATH 2/1 who has led before and has the stall 1 draw in this race so if getting to the front and gaining control of the rails could lead all the way but the race sure wont take much winning so any stakes will be kept low, it finished 2nd yesterday, Friday, so if turning out here so quickly then connections must be expecting it to go one better here.

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.30

A field of 12 for this class 5 sprint where i can see 3 horses, Araifjan, Rebel Redemption and Muscika that have led before and they are fairly closely rated so any of the trio could lead but if Rebel Redemption is allowed an easy lead it could do enough to at least make the frame but stall 12 isn't ideal, but I think they will be setting the race up for a hold up type, Beauzon is my 4th top rated with El Hombre sitting in 3rd top spot and 2nd spot is taken by Porfin so any of them could make the frame if reproducing their previous best ratings but I have SARAH'S VERSE 16/1 (EW) rated top using a course and distance rating from last year, its been awhile since the stable last had a winner but the apprentice jockeys only previous ride for the stable resulted in a win so I'm hoping for the same here but at the price it has to be an each way wager.

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.00 Div I

This 1st division of a 0-50 stakes race is very poor even for the class and in all honesty the race is probably best left alone, none of them have been in great form recently but something has to win the race. Oxygen Thief recorded a rating from this year at Chelmsford which would put it in 4th top spot but it only just registered at the very bottom end of my ratings and may be better over further. Lesha is my 3rd top but this surface isn't its favourite but could still make the frame, Tommytwohoots is my 2nd top rated on a course and distance time it recorded last year so could go well here but CREEK HARBOUR 6/1 has a rating from 2021 which is way better than anything else recorded by anything else in this race, it has been running over longer distances and has only had one course and distance run since then but the apprentice jockey is 0-6 when riding for this stable but this horse has been known to lead before and if deploying those tactics here it could possibly lead all the way but the betting will decide whether i think its value enough to take the risk of backing it.

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.30 Div II

The top weight At Your Service would have a decent chance if able to reproduce its best 2021 rating but its not ran for 529 days and its form had tailed off prior to its layoff so might need this run for fitness. I expect that Inaam will be to the fore in the betting after it finished 3rd last time out over 7 furlongs and weakened close home, it is the only horse in the race rated 50 so that might also restrict its price but I think its a much better prospect when racing on the Polytrack surface and will look to lay this one. The early pace could be set by VIEWFROMTHESTARS 6/1 who is ideally drawn in stall 2 to lead and if getting to the front and reproducing its best course and distance rating from 2022 it could get back to winning ways.

7:00 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (21st December)

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.00

This race isn't too bad fora class 6 sprint with 13 runners and 3 front running types amongst them, I will be looking to lay Final Account if its a single figure price as its still a maiden after 17 runs with 3 of them being on an artificial surface and 2 of those runs have been over this distance on this Tapeta surface. The early pace might be set by VIEWFROMTHESTARS 14/1 who is in stall 11 but with not too much opposition to get to the front it could get there and then prove hard to catch but the top weight MY BOY JACK 4/1 is my top rated using Southwell ratings and is only 3lbs below my other selection on course and distance ratings and with the apprentices 7lb claim it moves to top spot but its still a maiden after 17 races so hence why its not my sole bet in this race but my other selection is still a maiden after 10 runs so my stakes will be kept low.

My Boy Jack 9/2 3rd -1pt

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.30

A 9 runner class 4 sprint where a 3rd of the field have been known to lead before and I think this race could be won from the front. Bezza's Lad can produce good ratings but in lower class races and I expect it will be an outsider. If Idoapologise is of value then it might be worth laying as I think it will be better when racing over a longer distance, there is only 1lb between Amber Dew and Ballyare in 4th and 3rd top spots. Intervention 10/3 is my 2nd top rated horse and has the stall 1 draw which is always a bonus for a front runner but I will be putting my trust on MUSCIKA 4/1 who is in stall 3 so should be able to at least get away on terms and if getting to the front it could prove more than hard to catch and the stable has been in form with 5 winners from 14 runners in the last 2 weeks.

Muscika 4/1 4th -1pt

WOLVERHAMPTON 8.00

A class 6 dash with 10 runners and a couple of early paced sorts in Boom The Groom 14/1 and Waverley Star 9/2 and if the former could reproduce its best 2020 rating it would win with a bit too spare but this 11yo isn't the same horse nowadays but this race wont take much winning so might be worth an each way interest, while the latter needs to improve a good few spots to win the race. Nacho Star is capable looking at its best rating from last year, then there is Spanish Angel and Hit Mac who have the same speed rating. The more I look at this race the more I think its a race to leave alone but if the top weight is a double figure price I might have a small each way punt.

3:50 Newcastle Racing Tips (11th November)

NEWCASTLE 3.50

A very competitive looking class 4 dash where the early pace could bet by either Khabib 5/2 and or Twilight Madness 5/2 and maybe the latter will do best as its drawn nearer to the better side of the course in stall 8 but maybe a better horse over further so the former could get an easy lead and then be more dangerous and could make the frame but neither are each way prices and maybe worth laying at the prices on offer. Be Proud 12/1 who likes to track the leaders is my 3rd top rated and coming out of stall 6 it could make the frame, Ballyare 14/1 is a hold up type of horse and my 2nd top rated so could make the frame with a clear run but I will be putting my faith on *OUR ABSENT FRIENDS 15/2 who won well 2 runs ago when winning over this course and distance admittedly in a class 6 race but this lightly raced 4yo who has only ran 5 runs and could be an improving sort who can be excused its run last time out over 6 furlongs and is quickly dropped back in distance to run here.

WOLVERHAMPTON 4.55 Div I

A 13 runner class 6 apprentice jockeys handicap with just 2 known front running types amongst them. I will look to lay both Minhaaj and Rose Bandit as they can both struggle to stay this distance in a fast run race which might happen here. Kath's Toyboy and Big Impact are my joint 4th top rated horses and the latter is one of the known front runners but from stall 12 it might use up too much of its energy to get to the front and then fade nearing the finish, Griggy who is my 3rd top rated is another that doesn't want a really fast early pace and believe it or not the same applies to Fylingdale who comes out in 2nd top spot so my money will be riding on the other likely pacesetter in the shape of VIEWFROMTHESTARS 14/1 (EW) and if this one gets to the front from stall 6 it should prove very hard to catch but at the price I will take some insurance with an each way wager.

WOLVERHAMPTON 5.30 Div II

An apprentice jockeys class 6 handicap with 13 runners and just one known front running type amongst them. I'm not sure if there's anything worthwhile to lay in this race as I expect they will all be double figure prices. Camachess and the 3yo Mumcat are my joint 3rd top rated horses but the former hasn't been in good form lately but the latter could make the frame, in joint top spot I've got Astrophysics and ARAIFJAN 6/1 the former's trainer has been 0-29 in the last 2 weeks and its had 40 runners since its last win so my money will be riding on Araifjan who is versatile when it comes to racing tactics which includes leading so I'm hoping from stall 3 it can get away smartly, gain control of the rails and the pace and lead all the way to victory.

Araifjan 6/1 2nd -1pt

Eric said: Good for promotion, 5.30 race had joint top rated horses 1st 25/1 + 2nd 5/2, also had joint 3rd top rated and said Mum's could make the frame finished 3rd at 13/2...f/c=144.60...t/c = 481.43

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.00

A 11 runner race where the early pace could be set by Boom The Groom or more likely by Eternal Halo 15/2 but I doubt either can hold on for the win although the latter could go well if allowed an easy lead. I will look to lay Fristel 13/2 who races as though a longer distance will be needed to show its best form and the same applies to Q Twenty Boy 15/2. Sir Rodneyredblood 9/2 could go well if reproducing its best figure from Chelmsford, the 3yo Level Up 5/1 could also go well looking at its rating from that course but isn't really an each way price. My money will be riding on YAAHOBBY 14/1 (EW) who ran well when 3rd two runs ago at Newcastle but hasn't ran here before which is a worry, it should be staying on at the finish and from stall 2 it ought to be able to get on the rail just behind the leaders ready to attack late on in the race and a juicy price so an each way bet seems best.
