1:25 Lingfield Racing Tips (10th April)

LINGFIELD 1.25

I can see 3 runners that have been known to lead and maybe Requited and or Lethal Blast could do best of them, the latter has a good speed figure on my ratings but its only managed to make the frame twice from 8 runs so maybe its best time was when it got towed along in a fast run race and the time might be a bit of a fluke, the top weight She Can Do hasn't any c/d form to work with but has a good time from Chelmsford over this distance but is a maiden after 10 races, Fairy Fast and Terri Rules have times that could make them dangerous but I will be having my money on LADY FLORENCE 6/1 who usually runs on well at the finish and this race should be run to suit its racing style and has good trainer/jockey stats.

Lady Florence 15/2 2nd -1pt

Total -1pt

LINGFIELD 2.00

Up to class 3 but only 6 runners with a couple of known front runners in Recon Mission and Autumn Flight but both need to improve time wise to hold on for the win although the latter was impressive when winning last time out but maybe it was flattered when looking at the speed figure from the race, Just Glamorous and Duke Of Firenze are my joint 3rd top rated, actually Newyorkstateofmind comes out top rated but firstly it might need this run for fitness and its wins have come in lower class races so I will placing my faith and money on OUTRAGE 9/4 and this ones trainer does well at this course and usually runs on well over this shortest distance.

Outrage 3/1 3rd -1pt

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.45

Firstly a couple that I'm not sure what to expect of them, Heptathlete and Twice As Likely, so I couldn't back or lay them but they will mean my stakes will be kept low, the early pace might be set by Love Love who has been known to lead if nothing else wants to and there isn't any natural front runner in the race, Isabella Ruby is better over shorter distances but if there's a slow early pace it could go well, there's two horses from the Antony Brittain stable and either of them could win this race, Klopp would win the race if able to reproduce its best time from 2019 but its best speed figure from 2020 would leave it a bit short so I will back its stablemate PUCHITA 9/2 who is top rated on recent c/d times and then has the added of advantage of a good 5lb claiming apprentice who has a 20% win ratio on the stables older horses.

1:00 Southwell Racing Tips (24th February)

SOUTHWELL 1.00

This race will evolve around Owhatanight 4/9 who has won its last 2 races and one of those wins was over this c/d but time wise both races were not fast enough to register on my figures and I expect it will be the hot favourite, it might win easily but I am definitely not backing it at an odds on price let alone under one to two, but that could leave me a value call in the race and hopefully it will be a double figure price, I expect Jazz Legend 6/1 to set the pace unless something else changes its usual race tactics and it could do enough from the front to hold on for a place and could be worth putting in a forecast with the selection and I quite like Josephine Gordon riding front running horses despite all this I will be putting my faith in the top weight PUCHITA 17/2 who has been running in better class races and this drop could see it back to winning ways plus connections have employed a 5lb claiming apprentice who has a 31% winning ratio for the stable and could be worth an each way investment.

Puchita 17/2 4th -2pts

Total - 2pts

SOUTHWELL 2.05

A poor turnout of just 5 runners for this class 2 race with nearly 12k to the winner both Ornate and King Of Stars are known to front run and I expect the former to do best of those two and it could steal the race if allowed an easy lead but that isn't easy on this straight 5 furlongs, the latter maybe outclassed at this level as might Mulzim, the top weight Lampang might need further to show its best but this surface has been running very slow lately so it should be staying on at the finish but I will be backing TAWNY PORT 9/1 who has won twice and been placed in its 3 runs over this c/d and they are using a 7lb claiming apprentice to help their cause and he has won on his only previous ride for this stable and I didn't expect it to be this generous in price.

Tawny Port 9/1 5th -1pt

Total -1pt

SOUTHWELL 3.15

Quite a poor class 6 dash with half of the 8 runners having been known to lead before, one trainer has 3 runners, Tan with a jockey record of 0-29, Brandy Station with a jockey record of 0-8, so it makes me thing that RED STRIPES 10/3 could be the trier and this front runner is still capable on a going day, Red Allure is another that can run ok if in the mood but its best time came at Newcastle back in 2019, the top weight MOVEONUP 20/1 another front running type and with a 5lb claiming apprentice helping its cause has to have a decent chance of winning this race and at the price I have to go with an each way wager, I will be backing both selections but my stakes wont be at full strength.

Red Stripes 9/2 4th -1pt
Moveonup 20/1 6th -2pts

Total -3pts

KEMPTON 5.15

This is very competitive race with quite a lot of conflicting ratings, there is 2 known front runners in Turanga Leela who comes out 2nd best and only 2lbs off top spot for recent c/d times and its best time was recorded this year, Album is the other possible pacesetter but has only ran once over this c/d where it didn't record a speed rating but its best time recorded at Chelmsford this year would make it my top rated overall, Winneetka is the one that is top rated on recent c/d figures and has finished 2nd in its last 3 races and could go one better here, Princes Des Sables hasn't any course form but does have a time from Lingfield that would see it just 3lbs below top spot overall, Jackstar will be trying to stay on at the finish but maybe too late for the win, Grey Galleon is one I would look to lay for the win part but it has been placed in 3 of its 4 c/d runs so it might be worth an each way interest, I will go with backing both TURANGA LEELA 14/1 in an each way punt at the price and ALBUM 11/4 who will try to set the early pace and they could lead all the way.

1:15 Southwell Racing Tips (7th January)

SOUTHWELL 1.15

Only 7 runners but 3 of them have been known to lead before, I will look to lay (Giogiobbo 4/1) who may need further to shine, my 4th top rated is Duke Of Firenze when taking in the apprentices 7lb allowance, Dark Shot can lead but is versatile with its racing tactics and comes out 3rd on my figures but the jockey does do well for the stable, I think the pace will be set by SLOWMO 5/2 who is my top rated so could possibly lead all the way but it is only 1lb better than Thegreatestshowman 5/2 who is being ridden by an apprentice who has won once from two rides for the stable, so it should be close at the finish but I will stick with my top rated horse.

Slowmo 4/1 2nd (-1pt)

Lay bet: Giogiobbo +1pt

Total: 0pts

SOUTHWELL 2.45

Down to 6 runners for this sprint which is very very competitive and very hard to narrow down to a confident conclusion, I will exclude (Dirchill 4/1 + Ginger Max 15/2) and look to lay them as long as they stay at a single figure price, Samovar is 4th top rated on 2020 times but a 2019 time moves it to 3rd spot overall, EXCESSABLE 7/2 is 3rd best on recent times but 4th overall but has good trainer/jockey stats so it looks as though the connections are expecting it to win, PEARL OF QATAR 5/1 sits in 2nd top spot and oly 1lb below top spot and its another with good trainer/jockey stats so another that they are hoping to win with, PUCHITA 8/1 is top rated and the 3rd one with good trainer/jockey stats and dutching the 3 selections looks the best solution or maybe just rely on the two lays, let the betting will be the deciding factor. For which way you choose to go.

Excessable 9/2 -1pt
Pearl Of Qatar 5/1 4th (-1pt)
Puchita 12/1 5th (-1pt)

SOUTHWELL 3.45

Not a bad looking apprentice jockeys race, I will look to lay (Lorna Cole 11/2 + Gossip 4/1 + Tilsworth Rose 11/2) as long as they stay at a single figure price, Moveonup is my 2nd top rated on 2020 c/d times and being a front runner it could do enough to make the frame, RED STRIPES 9/2 is another front runner and is my top rated and that is using a 2020 time and could lead all the way here but I expect it will be at the fore of the betting if not favourite, I will be backing it but I will also have a bet on the bottom weight LEO MINOR 14/1 who hasn't ran over this c/d before but does have a fast time from Chelmsford in 2020 and this ones trainer has a 27% win ratio in apprentice races and hopefully it will be an each way price.

4:15 Southwell Racing Tips (8th December)

SOUTHWELL 4.15

Only 9 runners but a very hard race to analyse, there are a couple of known front runners so that's not the problem, I will look to lay (Scale Force + Pull Harder Con) if a single figure price, the early pace maybe forced by Samovar and/or Turanga Leela but the latter hasn't any form on this course but I am hoping from stall 2 that the former can get to the front and control of the rail and then could prove hard to catch for most of the field, Album has the stall 1 draw and likes to track the leaders so is ideally drawn it has a good time from Chelmsford but would need to improve a couple of pounds for the switch to this surface to win the race, I will be putting my trust and money on MOVEONUP 16/1 who is usually held up for a late run and this race looks likely to be run to suit its racing style and the apprentice jockey booking looks a positive move and their 7lb allowance takes it to the top of my ratings and at the price available it has to be given as an each way punt.

Moveonup 15/1 Unp (-2pts)

Lay bets: Scale Force +1pt, Pull Harder Coin +1pt

Total: 0pt

SOUTHWELL  5.45

A poor turnout of 6 runners for this claimer, the bottom pair look to be out of their depth and will be the 2 outsiders, Thrave has the potential to go onto better things and could try to set the pace but i still prefer the proven, Requinted Dawn is my 3rd top rated and usually tracks the leaders, YOUNG JOHN 5/4 is my 2nd top rated on just 2020 c/d times but its best time from 2019 moves it to top spot and this front runner from stall 2 could set the pace and control the rails but just in case it cannot repeat its best from last year i will also back PUCHITA 7/2 who is my top rated on just 2020 times.

Young John 5/4 2nd (-1pt)
Puchita 4/1 4th (-1pt)

SOUTHWELL  7.15

A full complement of 14 for this race for amateur jockeys which always means my stakes wont be at full strength, Requited Dawn could set the pace, usually stall 12 wouldn't be great but should be ok in the make-up of this race although with amateur jockeys normal racing tactics for each horse could go out the window it could prove troublesome, I will go with dutching 3 horses in the race, INDEPENDENCE DAY 16/1 (EW) has a fast time from Chelmsford which would make it my top rated but it hasn't raced on this surface before but luckily the price allows for a bit of insurance as it can be done as an each way wager, LETMESTOPYOUTHERE 10/1 (EW) is my joint top rated on c/d times but that time was recorded in 2019 and hasn't had a recent c/d run but the jockey booking might be a positive as they have a 17% win ratio for the stable and the trainer has an 18% win rate at the course but it does drop to 14% with their older horses so it has to be an each way bet at the price, top rated on just 2020 c/d times is GORGEOUS GENERAL 11/2 and this ones trainer has an overall win ratio of 18% at this course it jumps up to 26% with their older horses.

11:35 Southwell Racing Tips (27th November)

SOUTHWELL 11.35

There's only 7 runners and I still cant narrow it down to one selection and its a race where I will back the one I think will lead and one that likes to run on at the finish, Red Stripes is a possible leader but its form since after the lock down has been quite poor and it wont get an easy lead here, I'm hoping the early pace will be set by SLOWMO 5/1 who has a rating from Newcastle that would make it my top rated but its one c/d run in 2018 resulted in a slow time so not 100% sure what to expect, the other horse I will be backing is ARZAAK 2/1 who won last time out and has been found a good opportunity to follow up here.

Slowmo 13/2 1st (+6.5pts) (Betfair SP 8.44)
Arzaak 9/4 4th (-1pt)
Total: +5.5pts

SOUTHWELL 1.40

This race is very close at the top of my ratings, Moveonup and Requinto Dawn are joint 4th top rated and could be trying to stay on at the finish while Dirchill and Crosse Fire will be trying to win from the front being my 3rd and 2nd top rated horses but I will be backing PUCHITA 13/2 who is my top rated and that speed figure was recorded this year and I do like it when this apprentice rides for the stable as he has a 17% win ratio on their older horses.

SOUTHWELL 2.45 Div I

This is a poor looking race with a very limited amount of data to work with but the top weight does catch the eye, its due to run Thursday but I think this would be a much easier task for USTATH 9/4 to win its 4th race in a row and if it does run both days I will be backing it unless its too short a price.

Ustath 9/4 4th -1pt

Total -1pt

SOUTHWELL 3.20 Div II

This 2nd division is a little better in the amount of data I've got to work with, I have to say its not a race to be getting too heavily involved in betting wise and there looks to be very little early pace in the race, Trevie Fountain finished 2nd last time out but it was in a slow run affair, Phantasmal, Le Manege Enchante, The Golden Cue, Dors Toyboy and Hellofagame all have speed figures very close to each others and could run well but i will be relying on FIRST EXCEL 9/2 who has been known to lead when nothing else wants to, which could be the case here, and has a time over this c/d in 2019 that would see it winning this race cosily but the jockeys record of 0-12 is a little off-putting, I was hoping it would be an each way price so I hope it drifts a bit.

5:35 Southwell Racing Tips (9th November)

SOUTHWELL 5.35

Only 7 runners with three 3yo’s amongst them and they could all be dangerous and I cannot dismiss any of them but as usual I will stick with the proven, firstly I think that I will lay Moveonup 10/3 who is favourite but I think it might struggle to stay the distance with a fast pace and in this race that will more than likely happen here, there is only one known front running type in the race so if CROSSE FIRE 11/2 sets the pace it could be hard to catch as it is my 2nd top rated and then it is only 1lb below PUCHITA who is sitting in top spot, so I will have to back both of them to cover the angles.

Crosse Fire 11/2 2nd (-1pt)
Puchita 10/3 3rd (-1pt)

Total: -1pt

SOUTHWELL 6.05

This looks a very competitive dash for a class 4 race plus there's 2 natural front runners and 2 others that can lead if nothing else wants to, if Dark Shot 9/1 decides to lead or at least contest the lead then it might do best of those racing prominently and at the price might be worth backing with an each way wager, the bottom weight Samovar 8/1 is capable of a fast time but doesn't seem to win much lately and hasn't won a race so far this year so another that could be worth backing each way in this race, Young Tiger 11/2 is another that can produce a fast time but usually when chasing other horses but isn't a big enough price to back each way but it could make the frame, my money in this race will be riding on QUEEN OF KALAHARI 9/2 who usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish and the booked jockey does have a decent strike rate for the stable in fact its a 29% win ratio with the stables older horses and it only drops to 25% when riding anything from this stable so it looks as though the connections are expecting it to get back to winning ways in this race.

4:50 Southwell Racing Tips (27th October)

SOUTHWELL 4.50

XTARA 15/2 hasn't run on this surface before and its time from Kempton was a slow one, it has been known to lead but whether it can here is debatable.

SHALLOW HAL 14/1 has its best time from this year but it isn't quite good enough to get it into my top four ratings but does have the stall one draw which could help.

QUEEN OF KALAHARI 10/3 is the 2nd of 3 possible pacesetters and has a time which means it could possibly do enough to make the frame.

SCALE FORCE 33/1 hasn't any form on the AW tracks and from what its shown on turf this distance might prove a bit too far for it.

GLOBAL HOPE 13/2 can be held up or track the leaders but timewise it would need to improve quite a few spots to win this race.

GOLD BROCADE 7/1 the 1st of two 3yo’s it hasn't run on this surface before and would need to improve for the switch to here to win.

CROSSE FIRE 15/2 is the 3rd known frontrunning type and my4th top rated so could do best of the pacesetters and could possibly do enough to make the frame.

PUCHITA 4/1 is my top rated on just 2020 c/d times and the apprentices 5lb allowance makes it top-rated overall so given a clear run should go well.

LLAMBA 12/1 is 2nd top-rated on just 2020 c/d times but drops to 3rd best on overall figures so has an each-way chance in his race.

SOLEMN PLEDGE 16/1 the 3rd and final 3yo has only one run to its name on the AW tracks, it has won at the distance on turf but in a slow time so not sure what to expect.

GULLANE ONE 28/1 has a time from 2019 that would make it my 2nd top-rated overall and that's from having 2 runs to its name on the AW tracks.

SUMMARY: With 3 pacesetting types in the race I think it will be set up for something coming from off the pace, my 2nd to 4th top ratings, Crosse Fire, Llamba and Gullane One, in that order, all have some degree of a chance here and should be battling to fill the places but my money will be riding on PUCHITA 4/1 who is top-rated on both recent and overall figures thanks to the apprentice jockeys 5lb claim and the apprentice has over a 30% win record for the stable and looks to have been found a good opportunity to follow up from its win last time out.

4:10 Southwell Racing Tips & Lay Bets (8th October)

SOUTHWELL 4.10

There's a maximum field of 14 runners 6 of them having been known to lead before and most of my top rated horses are front running sorts, the 2 that might do best of those coming from off the pace are Undercover Brother and Queen Of Kalahari, Sommer Katze and Red Stripes are 2 front runners that have times that would put them in the mix but I will be taking a bit of a punt on CROSSE FIRE 28/1 (EW) who admittedly hasn't shown much so far this year but has a time from 2019 that makes it my top rated, its draw in stall 2 is nearly perfect and I hope it gets away smartly and gains control of the rails and then prove hard to catch, I'm also hoping the tissue prices are right as its forecast to be a twenty to one shot so worth an each way gamble.

Crosse Fire 28/1 2nd (+6pts)

Total: +6pts

SOUTHWELL 5.40

This is the 2nd division of this race and the 1st division hasn't much data to work with so looks best left alone, I will look to lay (Onebaba + Northern Charm) as I'm not sure they will like this surface, I will be concentrating on the pair at the top of the handicap, Global Melody is 2nd top rated using just 2020 c/d times but has a time from 2019 that would make it top rated overall, Puchita is top rated on just this years times which is always a bonus and I will go with an each way bet on GLOBAL MELODY 10/1 (EW) and a win bet on PUCHITA 10/3 to cover both angles.

CHELMSFORD 7.00

This is a cracking looking class 3 dash and half the field of 12 have been known to lead before so it will be fast and furious, I cannot find anything of value to lay but that's maybe to be expected when dealing with better class animals, of the front runners maybe Mercenary Rose and Benny And The Jets will do best and are my 3rd and 4th top rated horses on overall figures, Daschas comes out 2nd top but I did have to go back to 2018 to find that time so I leave this one alone until it shows signs of a revival, I'm hoping the front runners really do go mad at the off and then tire nearing the finish which could play into the hands of JACK THE TRUTH 9/2 who is a hold up type and has been found a good chance of completing its hattrick.

4:10 Lingfield Racing Tips & Lay Bets (6th October)

LINGFIELD 4.10

A ten runner dash but strangely only 1 known front runner amongst them although Lordsbridge Boy has led before over 6 furlongs but maybe it won't be able to lead now dropped back to the minimum trip, Miaella is my 3rd top rated using its best time from 2019 and hasn't had any recent c/d form to work with, sitting in 2nd top spot is Roundabout Magic who can be held up for a late run or track the leaders and then stay on resolutely but I will be backing my top rated horse and the only horse that I would call a natural front running type and in the make-up of this race even stall 10 might not prevent *AUTUMN TRAIL 7/1 from getting to the front and once there it could prove hard to catch, the trainer has a 19% win rate at this course with their older horses and the jockey is in very good form lately.

*NR

SOUTHWELL 5.20

I will highlight the lays firstly (Sfumato who might not really like this surface and may need further to shine + Archimedes who hasn't been in form lately and may struggle to stay the trip if there's a fast early pace) Three Card Trick is the only known front runner but would need to improve time wise to win here, the top weight Brenner Pass has a fast time from Lingfield which would see it being competitive but its best time on this surface is a bit below par, Hellofagame has one cracking time from 2019 but that's looking like a fluke where it got carried along in a fast run affair and is still a maiden after 19 previous runs, LOULIN 6/1 is another with a time that would put it in the mix and could win the race on its best c/d time and it will be carrying some of my money but not the full amount mainly due to the jockeys 0-17 record for this stable, i will also be backing PUCHITA 5/2 who is being ridden by a 5lb claiming apprentice which could swing things its way and he does have a 2-4 win ratio for this stable so I'm assuming that connections are expecting a big run here but the price is on the short side.

2:40 Wolverhampton Racing Tips & Lay Bets (10th June)

WOLVERHAMPTON 2.40

Quite a tricky race mainly due to a lack of data to work with for several of the runners which usually means a more experienced horse is top-rated, I will look to lay (Jem Scuttle + Valentino Sunrise). I can only find one known frontrunner in the race so if allowed an easy lead PEACHEY CARNEHAN 12/1 (EW) could run a big race and worth a small each-way bet, it is my joint top rated on a 2018 time but its best from last year was 9lb lower but it could steal this race from the front hopefully an each-way chance but this stable has another entry in PUCHITA 18/1 (EW) my 3rd top-rated and the stables usual jockey has chosen to ride this one, so another each-way chance at the odds, I will also be backing *ONE ONE SEVEN 6/1 who ran well when finishing 2nd on its last run but the jockeys 1-16 record for this stable is a little off-putting, I cannot see any way other than to dutch all 3 horses and each way if their price permits.

KEMPTON 8.00

I am not too keen on this race, there's only 8 runners and the bottom 3 are 3yo’s who could be better than they have already shown, BUY ME BACK 5/1 could go well as it won over this c/d this year but if JAMAHEERY 9/2 from the powerful R Hannon stable can reproduce its Yarmouth time it would be winning here while the best of the older horses look to be SHIMMERING DAWN 7/2, I do think the winner will come from these 3 and dutching them looks the answer to me.

KEMPTON 8.30

A field of 10 runners with no known frontrunners which always makes things hard to analyse to completion, I can find a couple to lay (Pedestal + Three Little Birds) Inexes may need further or a slower surface but the jockeys good stats for the stable means I'm not confident enough to lay it, I can also see a few that will run well, the bottom weight Di Metteo has only slow times at this c/d but its best time from Wolverhampton would make it top rated but I will stick with the proven on this surface, Inaam’s best time from Lingfield would put it in the mix but it's one run at this c/d was poor, Nezar will be staying on at the finish, my money will be riding on PRIVATE MATTER 7/1 who can be held up or track the leaders but my stakes will be kept low because of the lack of known early pace.

6:00 Southwell Racing Tips & Lay Bets (13th March)

SOUTHWELL 6.00

As usual, I will start with the ones I don't think can win this race (Carlovian + Northern Queen) I could have added Waqaas to the list of lays but there isn't much else known early pace so with an easy lead he could become very dangerous as I think he might be better over further, Kommander Kirkup hasn't been in form recently while Jazz Legend might need this run so maybe worth laying as well but I will stick with the 2 I am confident won't win, Badger Berry is well-weighted and could go well but my money will be riding on PUCHITA 10/3 who won for me the time before last over this trip but was outpaced early in its last race over 5 furlongs and now back up to 6 furlongs it has been found a good chance to get back to winning ways.

Puchita 10/3 1st

Lay bets: Carlovian (+1pt) Northern Queen (+1pt)

SOUTHWELL 7.00

An old favourite of mine Red Stripes has won for me recently but today its raised into a class 4 affair, I have a feeling it might be a step too far for it plus it will be taken on by Aleef for the lead, no doubt it will run a decent race but may fall a little short, Exalted Angel likes to track the leaders and will be trying to stay on at the finish and should go well but I will be backing SAMOVAR 7/1 but my only worry with this horse is that he doesn't seem to win as many races as it ought to do but it has won 4 times over this c/d and at the price looks a value call in the race, its another that likes to track the leaders and if the leaders fade nearing the finish it could stay on resolutely to pick them up as the line approaches.

A field of 8 take part so I hope they all run, I will look to lay, (Nautical Haven + Youre Cool + Global Humor) Six Strings is on a losing run of 11 and may need further to show its best, Lorna Cole very nearly made the list of horses to lay but it hasnt run here before and nothing says it definitely won't like this surface although I doubt it will, Augustus Caesar is the only 3yo in the race and could go well but will need to improve timewise to win this race, theres 2 known frontrunning types in the race and they are my 2 top rated horses, Moveonup is my 2nd top rated and the trainer has a decent win ratio at this course while the apprentice jockey is making his debut for this stable so im not sure if its a positive or not but I will probably back this one as a covering bet to my main bet on RED STRIPES 4/1 who won last time out and has been found a decent chance to follow up here and the apprentice booked to ride has had 2 rides before and won on one of them so im hoping thats a positive pointer.

Red Stripes 9/2 1st

Lay bets: Nautical Haven (+1pt) You're Cool (+1pt) Global Humour (+1pt)

Total +7.5pts

SOUTHWELL 7.30

This is a poor looking race and I have negatives against 6 of the 8 runners and I would look to lay (Aquarius + Andra Amar + Jem Scuttle) the 2 at the bottom of the handicap, Star Cracker and Wicklow Warrior, have no form to work with over this c/d but I am thinking they may struggle here but never say never, Intense Style has no c/d form either but has won at this distance on good to soft going so may take to this surface and hence become a danger, I will be having a small wager on PUCHITA 9/4 who won last time out and has been found a good opportunity to follow up in this race.

Punchita 9/4 1st (Unchallenged 6 L)

Lay bets: Aquarius (+1pt) Andra Amar (+1pt) Jem Scuttle (+1pt)

Total +5.25pts
