1.15 NEWMARKET -
A tricky race to start the Guineas meeting at racings headquarters, I live quite close and find it a soulless place and without binoculars and a good vantage point you end up watching the giant screen on the other side of the track at the finish line, any back to racing, I will look to lay 3 horses, (Leodis Dream who is better on the AW, while both Count D’arcy + Aplomb prefer a slower surface, as there is rain forecast for later today I suggest you don't lay the last two until you see if the going has softened) the bottom 3 in the handicap, Blue De Vega, Royal Birth, and Restless Rose, all have good speed figures but not at class 2 level on turf, Makanah could go well here and has a positive looking jockey booking, my money will be carried by STONE OF DESTINY 6/1 who I will be backing each way, it is a tricky race so my stakes will be kept on the low side.
Stone Of Destiny 6/1 EW 4th (-2pt)
Lay bets: Leodis Dream +1pt, Count D'arcy +1pt, Aplomb +1pt
Total +1pts
NEWMARKET 1.50
This looks a very competitive Group 3 affair, where I can only see one to lay (Far Above who I think needs further and may get outpaced here) I can see any of Major Jumbo, Arecibo, Judicial, Ornate, Tarboosh, Hareem Queen, Shades Of Blue and Queens Gift, running big races but my money will be riding on MOSS GILL 5/1 who won its last race on the AW and that was maybe to get it fit for a tilt at this race and if I'm right the early 8/1 on offer may be good each-way value.

LINGFIELD 4.55
A very competitive class 5 sprint, I have found 4 horses to lay (Becker + Soldiers Son + Discreet Hero + Camachess) one that could be on my list of potential winners is Pettochside who has a time from Kempton that would make it my top-rated but it has run over this c/d twice and done virtually nothing which would make it one to lay, so best left alone? EQUIPPED 7/2 is one that I will be backing as it has good trainer/jockey stats, The Lacemaker has 3 c/d wins but the 2 wins in 2019 were in slow run affairs and haven't done much of note timewise since 2018 which puts me off its chances, I will have to back URBAN HIGHWAY 10/1 each way, it did the best c/d time in 2019 although the jockey booking doesn't look a positive move, there is a lack of known frontrunners so stakes will be kept low.

NEWCASTLE 5.05
I will highlight the 3 I will be laying first (Global Humor + Somewhere Secret + Comptons Finale, all 3 might prefer a longer trip and the latter pair might also prefer a slower surface) the bottom-weight BOUDICA BAY 12/1 has only run once on the AW but looking at its form on turf it could be a hidden danger and may be worth an each-way interest, LONGROOM 5/2 won its last race on March 5th and if in the same vein of form could win again here, MARIETTA ROBUSTI 12/1 finished 2nd last time out three-quarters of a length behind Longroom and strictly at the weights Longroom should beat it again but the apprentice jockey gave it far too much to do that day and now back in the hands of a professional jockey could do better and another may be worth an each-way wager but again it's a race where my stakes will be lowish.
Boudica Bay 14/1 EW 2nd (+2.5pts)
Longroom 11/4 4th (-1pt)
Marietta Rosti 25/1 EW 6th (-2pts)
Lay bets: Global Humor +1pt, Somewhere Secret +1pt, Comptons +1pt
Total: +2.5pts
Total on the day: 0pts
