5:15 Southwell Racing Tips (8th January)

SOUTHWELL 5.15

GABRIAL THE DEVIL 14/1 a possible pacesetter but has only one slow c/d time to its name from one previous run here and its record on the AW tracks is no wins but 4 placed efforts from its six runs but time wise its lacking a little.

KATHEEFA 18/1 hasn't been in good form lately with a row of duck eggs beside its name but a time recorded earlier in 2020 makes it top rated for the year and its best time from 2019 would make it top rated overall, they are using a tongue-tie for the first time here and I am hoping it will be enough for it to spring back to form and the price it might be worth the risk.

GIOGIOBBO 11/4 is another possible pacesetter but it hasn't run over this c/d before and looking at its best rating from Newcastle it would need to improve for the switch to this surface to actually win this race and looks poor value at the price.

OAKENSHIELD 8/1 this one has no course form to its name and its best rating also comes from Newcastle and a fair bit slower than the horse directly above so will also need to improve to get involved with the finish of this race.

THRAVE 4/1 the third possible pacesetter and has the plum stall one draw to help its cause. It has won over this c/d before but in a relatively slow time so another that would need to improve to win this race.

SAMOVAR 6/5 likes to race prominently but its best time for each year seems to be dropping off and has a lot of racing in its 3 years on the tracks it won yesterday over this c/d but again time wise it was a slow time but every race was slower than usual so it was maybe the surface running slow, it has only won once from 10 previous runs over this c/d and may struggle to win this race and I certainly wouldn't back it at the price.

SUMMARY: The only sprint of the day for me and there's only six runners with three of them having been known to lead before so that makes it a little bit easier to analyse the race, I think or maybe hope that the 2 front runners take each other on and set it up for a horse coming from of the pace, I have to back KATHEEFA at 18/1 hoping the tongue-tie sparks it back to life and to be honest if it wasn't for the fitting of new racing equipment and he big price I would probably leave this race alone.

5:25 Southwell Racing Tips & Lay Bets (28th January)

SOUTHWELL 5.25

Only 9 runners but I can dismiss 4 of them so I will look to lay them (Gnaad--Sandridge Lad--Leo Minor--Aquarius) I'm not sure what to make of Coolagh Magic and Johnny Reb although I'm not sure this surface will suit the latter, Le Manege Enchante is been in good form and may have earnt the opportunity to move up to this class 5 race but with 3 known frontrunners in the race it may not be able to cope with the rise from class 6, Captain Dion 16/1 is in my top 3 ratings its a possible pacesetter here and has the plum stall 1 draw and could do enough to make the frame so at the price it could be a good each-way bet, the horse that I will be backing is LIAMBA 3/1 who is another possible frontrunner and in the make-up of this race it should be able to get a good early position from stall 8 and if getting to the front it could be hard to catch.

Liamba 7/2 7th
Lays:  Sandridge Lad (-4.5pts) Gnaad (+1pt) Leo Minor (+1pt) Aquarius (+1pt)

SOUTHWELL 5.55

A 7 runner race with just 1 known frontrunning type, I am not 100% sure what to expect from Gulliver, Typhoon Ten and Wasntexpectingthat none have run on this surface before but nothing in the race I could confidently lay, the first 2 have won with cut on turf which is a positive for this course and the latter has a good record, 3 wins and 1 place from just 4 runs on the AW, Samovar is the possible pacesetter here but is raised in class and I am doubtful it can cope with this rise in class, Zylan is in good form with two 2nd places and a win in its last 3 runs and it's my 2nd top rated in this race but I will be backing the top rated KATHEEFA 7/2 who likes to track the leaders but my stakes won't be at full power mainly due to the topweight being the only one in the race to have regularly raced in this class before as its rated 14lbs higher than the next best in the handicap but it's not run since October 12th so may possibly need the run.

SOUTHWELL 7.25

Another 7 runner affair but this time over 5 furlongs and there's 4 that have been known to lead before but again there's nothing I could lay confidently, Red Stripes is a frontrunning type and my 3rd top-rated while Warriors Valley is another one that might try to lead but this one hasn't really shown much in its last few races and been fading quite quickly, I have to admit that ETERNAL SUN hasn't been in good form either but its best time from the early part of 2019 would give it every chance here and the jockey booking is what has caught my eye and this race won't take much winning.

1:00 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (3rd January)

WOLVERHAMPTON 1.00

Div 1 Two divisions of a quite poor race so I will stick with the basics of what's important in looking for the winner and I think it will come from these four horses, Sagittarian Wind, Dodgy Bob, Griggy or Miracle Garden, the latter is my top rated but the jockey has a poor 1-16 record for the stable, Sagittarian Wind also has a poor jockey stat of 0-7 on the stables older horses but is my joint 2nd top-rated, Dodgy Bob has poor trainer/jockey stats with a win ratio of just 5% for both but this one could set the pace and it won last time out so is in good form as is Griggy who also won last time out, I will have my main bets on DODGY BOB 10/1 and MIRACLE GARDEN 10/1 with smaller covering bets on the other two mentioned.

Dodgy Bob 14/1 5th
Miracle Garden 10/1 7th

WOLVERHAMPTON 1.30

Div 2 This division is no easier and I think anyone of 5 can win the race, Bernies Boy 8/1 would be my 2nd top-rated if able to reproduce its best time which was recorded in 2018, One One Seven 4/1 won last time out and is top-rated on just 2019 c/d times, Our Man In Havana 13/2 is only 5th top on my figures but looks the only known frontrunning type in the race so could go well if allowed an easy lead, Isabella Rubystarts off as my 4th best but its 7lb claiming apprentice moves it to top spot on 2019 c/d times and will be trying to stay on strongly at the finish, Red Allure 10/1 comes out in top spot but that time was recorded at Newcastle and this is its 1st attempt at this course, I will have bets on all 5 horses mentioned but maybe tilting in the favour of ISABELLA RUBY 7/1 who I thought would be a bit shorter in the betting.

Isabella Ruby 10/1 4th

SOUTHWELL 6.15

Only 7 runners and I cannot discard any of them completely, my top 3 ratings are the top 3 In the handicap Zylan is on a losing run of 12 races but is 3rd top-rated, in 2nd top spot is Young John who is one of 3 in the race that has been known to lead before but my money will be riding on KATHEEFA 7/2 who won last time out and has been found a good chance here to follow up and to be honest, I was expecting it to be a bit shorter in price so I think it might be shorter before the off.

Katheefa 7/1 1st
