6:10 Brighton Racing Tips (3rd May)

BRIGHTON 6.10

Just 7 runners for this class 5 sprint with just Pinwheel known to have led before but this distance might be too short for it to win but never say never especially if allowed an easy lead and can the kick for home and pinch the race from the front. Batchelor Boy may need this run for fitness, Jupiter Express 13/2 may prefer a shorter distance, Street Parade 5/1 is another that may need the run for fitness, I think Forca Brasil 11/2 and Mount Mogan will be double figure priced outsiders but I'm wrong with one of them, which leaves me putting my money on BIG BARD 13/8 who usually races in midfield before staying on the stronger at the finish.

KEMPTON 9.00

Just 8 runners for this class 6 sprint where I expect Fiscal Policy, Lady Holly, Flagman and Raphel Jake to be outsiders in this race as they have shown very little worthwhile form, so it was a surprise when I saw Fiscal Policy was 9/2 joint 2nd favourite which always sets off the alarm bells in my head because on all known form it should have very little chance of winning this race so either they know a lot more than me or its of value to lay but which only time will tell. Dulcet Spirit 5/1 races as though a longer distance would suit it better and might be value to lay, my 3rd top rated is Magicinthemaking who might be better over further and it would need to improve a good few spots time wise to win this race but I'm not sure if I could lay it but my top 2 ratings look to have this race between them. AGAPANTHER 9/4 beat DELLA MARE 9/2 when they met last time out and strictly on the revised weights then the latter should turn the form around but the former that day could have been pushed a bit harder and it says it was eased nearing the finish in that race so the figures may not be 100% reliable but on all known form I can't see anything else in the race beating this pair but I doubt they will be worth dutching and I cannot say with any certainty which one of them will win so any bets in this race will depend on the odds available.

6:30 Southwell Racing Tips (24th January)

SOUTHWELL 6.30

A field of 9 for this class 6 sprint with a couple of known front running types, Crocodile Power 9/2 hasn't any form over this distance on an artificial surface and I think its better when racing over further so may not catch the leaders here and I will look to lay it if its value to do so, Triggered 3/1 will also be trying to stay on at the finish but another that might not get there in time for the win so maybe another possible lay, I think that Blackjack 6/1 prefers the Polytrack surface but I don't think it will be of value to lay and the same applies to Starter For Ten. Big Impact is my 2nd top rated on just course and distance ratings and also 2nd top on Tapeta ratings from elsewhere but is a possible pacesetter and has the coveted stall 1 draw but DELLA MARE 6/1 the other possible pacesetter is in stall 4 and is my top rated on just Southwell ratings and this one has good jockey stats, the top weight DEPUTISE 13/2 is my top rated on tapeta ratings from elsewhere but hasn't run here before but if taking to this course could have every chance of winning, it has good trainer and jockey stats so I will have to back both of them to cover the angles of both leaders and finishing types and also the different Tapeta course ratings.

SOUTHWELL 7.00

A class 3 dash with just 7 runners but 4 of them have been known to lead before so it will be fast and furious but they might set the race up for something coming from off the pace as they battle for the lead and fade nearing the finish. I think Tolstoy 7/1 will try to stay on at the finish but maybe not fast enough to get the win and might be worth laying if value to do so. Vespasian hasn't any form over this distance and I'm not quite sure what to expect from it so couldn't back or lay it. Strong Johnson did win in Ireland but not sure what to expect from it here as I cannot compare form lines, May Sonic will probably be too big a price to lay but races as though further would suit it better. Murbih 12/1 might do best of the front running types but I'm hoping that this race will fall into the lap of HIYA MAITE 4/1 who usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on the stronger nearing the finish and has decent trainer/jockey stats.

Hiya Maite 4/1 5th -1pt

1:10 Southwell Racing Tips (20th December)

SOUTHWELL 1.10

A 5 furlong class 5 dash with 10 runners and half, 5, of them have been known to lead before and my top 3 ratings are all front running types. I will look to lay Yimou 15/2 as its a better horse over a longer distance, Twilight Madness stall 5, is going for the hattrick here and is my 3rd top rated horse using just course and distance ratings, Never Dark in stall 2 comes out in 2nd top spot but if JEAN'S MAITE 5/1 can reproduce its last rating when leading all the way last time out then it would follow up here and has been found a good opportunity to do just that.

Jean's Maite 4/1 4th -1pt

SOUTHWELL 4.30 Div I

As to be expected not a great class 6 sprint but there is a couple of front runners which always helps, Breach 7/1 who is a hold up type of horse is out in stall 11 so it will need a degree of luck when coming to challenge and if its a single figure price, as forecast on the tissue prices, then I would look to lay it. I'm hoping that PORTELET BAY 20/1 who is my top rated on Tapeta ratings from elsewhere can lead here and if doing so it ought to be hard to catch, its form has as usual been erratic but its a horse that can win without any prior indication which also applies to THE COLA KID 25/1 and this one is my top rated on course and distance ratings and at the prices I have to go with 2 each way bets.

The Cola Kid 25/1 6th -1pt
Portelet Bay 40/1 8th -1pt

NEWCASTLE 4.45

A poor turnout of just 7 runners for this class 4 sprint, Westmorlan 2/1 seems better over shorter distances and Barney's Boy 9/1 seems better on the Polytrack surface so will look to lay both of them, Spartan Fighter 25/1 could set the pace but has been in poor form lately but if allowed an easy lead it could go well but i think its in the race to help the chances of its stablemate BELLAGIO MAN 4/1 who seems to like a fast pace to aim at but i will be backing both stablemates but the former mainly as a covering bet and a small profit if it can hang on for the win.

SOUTHWELL 5.00 Div II

In this 2nd division we once again have 2 known front running types, as for any lays I an looking at both Solar Prophet 4/1 and Giselles Izzy 7/2 who both race as though a longer distance would suit them better so they should be staying on at the finish but hopefully too late to win this race. Tathmeen is my 2nd top rated on Tapeta ratings from elsewhere while Hilary's Boy is my 2nd top rated on just course and distance ratings so either could run well. Top rated on course and distance times is DELLA MARE 7/2 who usually likes to track the leaders and has the prime stall 1 draw so could stay on strong nearing the finish while the front running LANCASHIRE LIFE 22/1 is my top rated from other Tapeta ratings, if getting to the front it could lead all the way and I will back the 2 horses that come top in my 2 lists the former with a win bet and an each way bet on the double figure priced horde.

Della Mare 6/1 -1pt
Lancashire Life 80/1 -1pt

Lay bets Gislles Izzy -8pts, Solar Prophet +1pt

NEWCASTLE 5.45

Another 7 runner race but this time there is a couple of front runners amongst them and of the pair Ornate could do best as its my 3rd top rated but this 9yo does seem to be on the decline but I expect it will be an outsider in this race. I will look to lay Motawaazy 11/2 who is 0-5 on an artificial surface and races as though further would suit it better, Indian Sounds will be trying to stay on at the finish but maybe too late for the win, BENEFICIARY 9/4 is my top rated on Southwell ratings and also on ratings from either here or Wolverhampton and can either be held up for a late run or track the leaders and in a small field like this I would hope it races close to the front to prevent anything getting first run on it and then it might not be able to catch it but the jockey has a decent strike rate for the stable so lets hope he adds to it here.
