1:00 Southwell Racing Tips (8th April)

SOUTHWELL 1.00

(The times recently on this surface have been very slow so any stakes have to be kept low) I expect Aleef to be one of the two horses who set the early pace here and it could do enough to at least make the frame, Quannah and Somewhere Secret have times from elsewhere that would put them in the mix but neither have raced on this surface before, True Hero is the other known front runner and won over c/d last time out and did record a slowish time but that's been the norm recently on this surface so could follow up here and I will use it as a cover bet but my main bet will be on ARZAAK 13/2 who has a time from last year that would see it winning but was behind True Hero last time out here so my stake will be kept low.

SOUTHWELL 1.35

There's 2 known front runners in this field of 10 and to be totally honest there isn't really enough recent data to be sure of the final analysis but i will put forward one that i will be having a small bet on, JAZZ LEGEND 8/1 is one of the 2 possible pacesetters and if getting to the front it could prove hard to peg back, it has the best recent time which is a bonus with how slow this surface is riding and its best time from 2019 would see it having every chance of leading all the way and if big enough in price i would go with an each way bet.

SOUTHWELL 3.15

This is a tricky looking race, there isn't any I could discard completely although I'm not sure this surface suits Batchelor Boy and could be worth laying but it is one of only two known leading types in this race, if I'm right that would leave Thrave to make the early pace and this one is one of 3 that are my co-2nd favs and recent c/d times, One Hart might also be better on a faster surface, my money will be riding on EXCESSABLE 9/2 who likes track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish and the jockey has a good 22% win ratio on the stables older horses.

Excessable 5/1 4th -1pt

SOUTHWELL 4.25

This race is poor even for a class 6 stakes race and there's only one horse with a recorded time over this c/d in recent times, 2020/21, Brandy Station destroyed its field last time out but as for normal around here lately the time was slow and its best time on Tapeta wouldn't quite be enough to win this race so I will be having a small wager on RED STRIPES 6/1 who can lead but has also been known to stay on strongly at the finish if the leaders fade.

CHELMSFORD 7.50

A six runner race where half of them could lead and they may well set the race up for one of those finishing well nearing the finish, of the front runners Global Prospector may do best as its my 3rd top rated, in 2nd top spot is The Nosey Parker but this one hasn't any form at this course as its best time was at Wolverhampton on a different surface, so I will be backing *JUMIRA BRIDGE 6/1 hoping it can finish strongly here and pick them all up nearing the finish.

1:35 Southwell Racing Tips (16th March)

SOUTHWELL 1.35

Only 7 runners but there is a couple of known front runners in the race, I will look to lay (Marwari) who has a good time from Newcastle but its 2 runs over this c/d haven't seen it go fast enough to register on my graphs, Gossip could attempt to lead but seems to set a slow pace, or maybe its the slow going here, True Hero is the other one that might lead and if getting an easy lead it could be dangerous but is only 3rd best on my figures, Qaaraat comes out 2nd best but from its 10 runs over this c/d it has only won twice but has been placed in the other 8 races so would be a nice each way bet but is forecast to be the favourite so I will side with ARZAAK 8/1 who is top rated using its best 2020 time and could win a shade cosily if able to reproduce that figure, I will also have a covering bet on True Hero just in case it gets an easy lead and then hold on to repel any challengers.

Arzaak 9/1 4th -1pt

SOUTHWELL 2.45

This is a class 4 race so it should be quite good but i have a feeling there's a few runners that are having a run in preparation for when the turf season kicks into gear so any stakes will be kept on the low side, Lord Oberon looked good when winning last time out and that time would be good enough for 2nd top spot so I will expect it to run well here and I also expect it will be he favourite to win the race, I will go with what looks the value call and back ZYLAN 8/1 who has been known to lead before and if getting to the front from stall 9 it could prove hard to catch and hopefully it will be an each price and the 3lb claiming apprentice has a 16% win ratio for the stable.

SOUTHWELL 3.55

This is a low class stakes race which seems to be new approach to let low grade horses have a chance of winning and most of the races are quite dire and if looking for recent 2020/21 c/d form there is virtually nothing to work with the only exception being RED STRIPES 7/1 this natural front running horse seems to have very little if any opposition for the lead, unless something changes its usual racing tactics, yes it is a 9 year old and certainly isn't as good as it once was but one day it will win another race by leading all the way and maybe that day will be in this race.

NEWCASTLE 7.45

This looks a good race for a class 5 affair with 11 runners but only one known front runner, I will look to lay (Zulu Zander 9/1) as long as it stays a single figure price, who seems better over five furlongs, Al Suil Elle may need further to show its best so this race might not be run to suit it, I wouldn't try to put anyone off backing the top weight Save The Spirit, Devils Angel does well at this c/d winning twice and placed twice from just 5 runs but would need to improve time wise to win this race, Good Night Mr Tom and Hart Stopper may need the run for fitness, I think that Kilconquar might be outclassed at this level, the same might be apply to to the bottom weight ABSOLUTE DREAM 13/2 but this one is the only known front runner and could dominate the race from the front and may take some catching but I do think that ATHOLLBLAIR BOY 6/1 could catch it as its only rated 1lb below it on recent c/d form but has a time from 2019 that would see it catching it quite cosily but I will be backing them both to cover both angles.

5:40 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (8th March)

WOLVERHAMPTON 5.40

Class 4 race with 11 entries and 5 in the field have been known to lead before but I think they will be setting the race up for something coming from off the pace, Spartan Fighter, Turanga Leela and Power Over Me look the most likely to go best of the early paced sorts, Garth Rockett has a time from Chelmsford that would make it my overall top rated but I'm not sure that figure can be relied upon as its previous run over this c/d resulted in a slow time so maybe? This isn't its favoured surface so I will stick with something proven, Storm Over has the plum stall 1 draw and comes out in 2nd top spot on recent c/d times but stall 1 can be a hindrance if the horse isn't smartly away and it could get shuffled back in the early stages, my money will be riding on the horse i think its the value call in the race FINAL FRONTIER 16/1 (EW) comes out top rated on recent c/d speed figures and from stall 5 it could track Turanga Leela from stall 4 across to the rails and then gain a good position from which to attack in the latter stages and at the price I have to put it forward as an each way wager.

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.40

I am not really a fan of these class 6 stakes races they are full of lightly raced sorts or older horses that are out of form lately but this one does look a bit better than most, famous last words, i have put a positive mark against 5 of the 11 runners and the 3 known front running types in the race are in that 5 so it looks likely to be a fast run race for the class, Jeans Maite a possible pacesetter in stall 2 comes out 5th best but there is only 6lbs between my top 5 horses, Captain Ryan would be 2nd top rated but that's using a 2019 time and I'm not sure if its capable of repeating that rating and its 2nd place finish last time out was in a slow run affair and I can't see that happening here, Dubai Princess has only a slow time to its name over this c/d but did a decent time at Chelmsford but its not proven here so i will err on the side of caution, I am hoping that RED STRIPES 6/1 can make a fast start here, its best recent c/d time is only 2lbs from top spot but has a time from 2019 that would make it top overall and it could go well here DYNAMO WALT 10/1 is top rated on recent c/d times so has to be considered and could be the one to prosper if they do go off too fast and fade nearing the finish and I will be having the two bets.

2:50 Southwell Racing Tips (4th March)

SOUTHWELL 2.50

I will look to lay Qaaraat if of any value as this trip is usually too far for it also Scale Force for the same reason while Red Jasper and Wrath Of Hector both race as though a longer trip would suit them and the latter has a good time from last year that makes it 2nd top spot on recent c/d times, Marvel would be top rated if using a time from 2019 and may need this run for fitness, I am hoping that YOUNG JOHN 4/1 gets away well and then sets the pace and if leading it should prove hard to catch and has very good trainer/jockey stats making me believe that connections are expecting to get back to winning ways here.

Young John 4/1 6th -1pt

SOUTHWELL 3.25

A field of 11 with 3 o them known as front running sorts and 2 of them are my top 2 ratings, Brandy Station, Jeans Maite and possibly Angel Eyes could prosper if they go off too fast and then fade, Archimedes is my 2nd top rated and coming out of stall 8 over this straight five furlong course and could do enough to at least make the frame but I will be backing the other one that I think will attempt to lead, RED STRIPES 6/1 who is only rated 3lbs better but it could be enough to swing things in its favour but it isn't a race I will be betting too heavily in.

CHELMSFORD 5.50

Down to 8 runners for this race with just the one runner that has been known to lead before, Global Hope comes out 4th top rated using a Kempton time from 2019 but hasn't no course form to its name and hasn't won any of its previous 10 AW runs, Boy In The Bar comes out 2nd top but again that is using a time from 2019 and neither have been in good form lately, Suzis Connoisseur comes out 2nd top rated on recent c/d times and its a good enough time for 3rd top spot overall which leaves me putting my faith in CAPPANANTY CON 4/1 who I am hoping could lead all the way in this race and has been found a good opportunity to complete the hattrick of wins.

1:00 Southwell Racing Tips (24th February)

SOUTHWELL 1.00

This race will evolve around Owhatanight 4/9 who has won its last 2 races and one of those wins was over this c/d but time wise both races were not fast enough to register on my figures and I expect it will be the hot favourite, it might win easily but I am definitely not backing it at an odds on price let alone under one to two, but that could leave me a value call in the race and hopefully it will be a double figure price, I expect Jazz Legend 6/1 to set the pace unless something else changes its usual race tactics and it could do enough from the front to hold on for a place and could be worth putting in a forecast with the selection and I quite like Josephine Gordon riding front running horses despite all this I will be putting my faith in the top weight PUCHITA 17/2 who has been running in better class races and this drop could see it back to winning ways plus connections have employed a 5lb claiming apprentice who has a 31% winning ratio for the stable and could be worth an each way investment.

Puchita 17/2 4th -2pts

SOUTHWELL 2.05

A poor turnout of just 5 runners for this class 2 race with nearly 12k to the winner both Ornate and King Of Stars are known to front run and I expect the former to do best of those two and it could steal the race if allowed an easy lead but that isn't easy on this straight 5 furlongs, the latter maybe outclassed at this level as might Mulzim, the top weight Lampang might need further to show its best but this surface has been running very slow lately so it should be staying on at the finish but I will be backing TAWNY PORT 9/1 who has won twice and been placed in its 3 runs over this c/d and they are using a 7lb claiming apprentice to help their cause and he has won on his only previous ride for this stable and I didn't expect it to be this generous in price.

Tawny Port 9/1 5th -1pt

SOUTHWELL 3.15

Quite a poor class 6 dash with half of the 8 runners having been known to lead before, one trainer has 3 runners, Tan with a jockey record of 0-29, Brandy Station with a jockey record of 0-8, so it makes me thing that RED STRIPES 10/3 could be the trier and this front runner is still capable on a going day, Red Allure is another that can run ok if in the mood but its best time came at Newcastle back in 2019, the top weight MOVEONUP 20/1 another front running type and with a 5lb claiming apprentice helping its cause has to have a decent chance of winning this race and at the price I have to go with an each way wager, I will be backing both selections but my stakes wont be at full strength.

Red Stripes 9/2 4th -1pt
Moveonup 20/1 6th -2pts

KEMPTON 5.15

This is very competitive race with quite a lot of conflicting ratings, there is 2 known front runners in Turanga Leela who comes out 2nd best and only 2lbs off top spot for recent c/d times and its best time was recorded this year, Album is the other possible pacesetter but has only ran once over this c/d where it didn't record a speed rating but its best time recorded at Chelmsford this year would make it my top rated overall, Winneetka is the one that is top rated on recent c/d figures and has finished 2nd in its last 3 races and could go one better here, Princes Des Sables hasn't any course form but does have a time from Lingfield that would see it just 3lbs below top spot overall, Jackstar will be trying to stay on at the finish but maybe too late for the win, Grey Galleon is one I would look to lay for the win part but it has been placed in 3 of its 4 c/d runs so it might be worth an each way interest, I will go with backing both TURANGA LEELA 14/1 in an each way punt at the price and ALBUM 11/4 who will try to set the early pace and they could lead all the way.

6:45 Southwell Racing Tips (Tuesday, 9th February)

I've posted this blog tonight for Tuesday's racing as there isn’t any sprints for me on Monday.

This shows the blog in its raw state. I usually alter things depending on the betting. The idea of this post is to show my thinking when analysing each horse.

Generally, I use my own shorthand but here I've written the blog in full.

Please read my notes about each horse because there is more than one way to make a profit. For example, I bet, lay & trade, and sometimes even wager in-running if a horse changes its usual running style. The analysis of each race offers many and varied betting opportunities. It is a skill to use the information at hand in the most efficient and productive way to make more cash.

Good luck whatever you back.

SOUTHWELL 6.45

ANOTHER ANGEL, 5/2 a possible front runner from stall 3, but the draw makes no difference over this straight 5-furlong course. Trainer's stats are 18% win ratio, jockey's stats 18% win ratio for this stable. It has one previous c/d run which resulted in a slow time but its best time from Newcastle would make it 3rd top overall.

SLOWMO 4/1 is another possible front runner from stall 2 and stablemate of the horse above (so which one is trying? maybe both, maybe neither) its jockey has a 11% win ratio , he’s the main jockey for the stable but the apprentice riding its stablemate has a better win ratio, it has the 2nd fastest recent c/d time while its best Newcastle time would make it my top rated overall but I don't think this is this ones favourite surface.

SCALE FORCE 7/2 is a versatile horse with its racing tactics but not known as a front running type, it has a trainer stat's of 15% win ratio and jockey's stats of a 23% win ratio, it usually likes to track the leaders and then run on at the finish and maybe even better over a longer distance, time wise it would need to improve a few pounds. It won last time out and maybe a lot shorter in price than it should be and anything under 4/1 and i would look to lay it.

SIGNORE PICCOLO 25/1 is the jockey's 1st ride for this stable and the stable's 0-16 record at this course makes me think it's not going to be fancied in this race, it hasn't made the frame in any of its previous AW races. It has won on all sorts of going on turf but I expect it will be an outsider in this race and too big to be of value to lay.

IT MUST BE FAITH 9/1 has trainer stat of 14% win ration and a jockey's stat of an 18% win ratio. It usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on at the finish but looks another that may be better over a longer distance. Its best time from Lingfield and Kempton is only good enough for 4th spot overall on my figures but hasn't shown anything time wise from its previous 3 c/d runs and I would look to lay it if a single figure price.

*BIG IMPACT 8/1 the trainer has a 13% win ratio at this course while the jockeys record is 0-4. Its sole c/d run resulted in a slow time, not fast enough to register on my graphs, it can be held up, race in the middle of the field or track the leaders, so quite versatile, but races as though further would suit it better and I expect it will be a double figure price in the betting but a lay if in single figures.

COOL SPIRIT 25/1 a possible pacesetter coming out of stall 8 but hasn't shown much form for quite a while now. The trainer has a 13% win ratio here and the jockey has won on 9% of its rides for the stable, its best time figure from Newcastle wouldn't be good enough to make my top 3 ratings and I expect it will be an outsider in the betting.

RED STRIPES 7/1 is another that has been known to lead before and is housed in stall 6. It has the fastest recent, 2020/21, c/d time and on its day is capable of winning this race. The trainer has a relatively poor 8% win ratio and that's the same ratio figure for the jockey and has won over this c/d on 5 previous occasions and been placed 13 times, if an each way price might be worth an each way wager.

SUMMARY: It is probable that this race will be won from the front with my top 3 ratings all being known to lead, the top 2 in the race are from the same stable which can muddy the waters, if pushed, I would side with Slowmo of the pair but it is just my opinion the stable might have other ideas, if the leaders go off too fast and fade then It Must Be Faith could prosper but I doubt that will happen, i will take a punt on RED STRIPES 7/1 with a small each way bet and using an exchange I would more on the place part than the win part.

4:40 Southwell Racing Tips & Lay Bet (19th January)

SOUTHWELL 4.40

I might look to lay, (Fantasy Keeper 11/2) who has recorded relatively slow times and hasn't been placed in any of its previous c/d races and (Giogiobbo 6/1) who has slow times at this distance and looks to need further to shine, there is another 3 with relatively slow times to their names and would therefore need to improve to win this race, my 4th top rated is You're Cool 9/1 who usually front runs but I'm not sure if it can lead here with 3 other potential pacesetters, Another Angel 9/1 comes out 3rd best overall using a Newcastle time as it hasn't run here before so not sure exactly what it will do on this surface, in 2nd top spot is Alsvinder 6/1 who is versatile when it comes to its racing tactics but has only a slow time to its name for its only previous c/d run which isn't enough form for me to be confident if it does or doesn't like this surface, Red Stripes 8/1 could lead and has been placed lately but the jockey is 0-7 for this stable, I think the winner should come from the four mentioned but I cannot favour any as having a better chance so the betting will be the deciding factor but I'm hoping to dutch all 4, ANOTHER ANGEL 9/1, RED STRIPES 8/1, YOU'RE COOL 9/1 and *ALSVINDER 6/1 to make a profit but it will be to low stakes.

SOUTHWELL 7.10

Only 7 runners but still a tricky race with a few relatively lightly raced sorts in the field and this shows in the fact that I've only got 3 with recorded times, Nick Vedder 4/5 is 2 from 2 over this c/d and is my 3rd top rated and has won its last 2 races so is in rude form and could possibly complete the hattrick but can it give weight away to all of the others as its handicap rating rises, I'm not sure, Katelli 5/1 is a 4yo who improved last time out to finish 2nd and is my 2nd top rated plus the trainer does quite well at this course with a 23% win ratio with its older horses and could improve again so has to be considered as a possible winner, my top rated is the front running Archimedes 14/1 who has finished in the frame in its last 2 races but the jockeys 0-13 record for the stable is off-putting and the horse is also 0-13 over this c/d but has made the frame in 3 of those 13 races but if allowed an easy lead it could prove dangerous, I think the winner might come from the 3 mentioned but its not a race to get too heavily involved in money wise and it isn't worth dutching with an odds on shot in the race, if pushed I might go with a small wager on Archimedes just because of the price but I'm nowhere near confident enough to actually put it up as a selection.

1:15 Southwell Racing Tips (7th January)

SOUTHWELL 1.15

Only 7 runners but 3 of them have been known to lead before, I will look to lay (Giogiobbo 4/1) who may need further to shine, my 4th top rated is Duke Of Firenze when taking in the apprentices 7lb allowance, Dark Shot can lead but is versatile with its racing tactics and comes out 3rd on my figures but the jockey does do well for the stable, I think the pace will be set by SLOWMO 5/2 who is my top rated so could possibly lead all the way but it is only 1lb better than Thegreatestshowman 5/2 who is being ridden by an apprentice who has won once from two rides for the stable, so it should be close at the finish but I will stick with my top rated horse.

SOUTHWELL 2.45

Down to 6 runners for this sprint which is very very competitive and very hard to narrow down to a confident conclusion, I will exclude (Dirchill 4/1 + Ginger Max 15/2) and look to lay them as long as they stay at a single figure price, Samovar is 4th top rated on 2020 times but a 2019 time moves it to 3rd spot overall, EXCESSABLE 7/2 is 3rd best on recent times but 4th overall but has good trainer/jockey stats so it looks as though the connections are expecting it to win, PEARL OF QATAR 5/1 sits in 2nd top spot and oly 1lb below top spot and its another with good trainer/jockey stats so another that they are hoping to win with, PUCHITA 8/1 is top rated and the 3rd one with good trainer/jockey stats and dutching the 3 selections looks the best solution or maybe just rely on the two lays, let the betting will be the deciding factor. For which way you choose to go.

Not a bad looking apprentice jockeys race, I will look to lay (Lorna Cole 11/2 + Gossip 4/1 + Tilsworth Rose 11/2) as long as they stay at a single figure price, Moveonup is my 2nd top rated on 2020 c/d times and being a front runner it could do enough to make the frame, RED STRIPES 9/2 is another front runner and is my top rated and that is using a 2020 time and could lead all the way here but I expect it will be at the fore of the betting if not favourite, I will be backing it but I will also have a bet on the bottom weight LEO MINOR 14/1 who hasn't ran over this c/d before but does have a fast time from Chelmsford in 2020 and this ones trainer has a 27% win ratio in apprentice races and hopefully it will be an each way price.

1:50 Southwell Racing Tips (1st January)

SOUTHWELL 1.50

A new year with 2 sprints but only 12 between them, Dark Shot looks the most likely to set the pace and if doing so could be hard to catch for most of these in fact the only one with a higher speed figure is THEGREATESTSHOWMAN 9/4 who hinted strongly at a return to form when finishing 2nd last time out and has been found a chance to go one better here, it finished 2nd again (Thursday) and if running here it does have a very good chance to go one better for the win.

Thegreatestshowman 9/4 1st (2.25pts) (Betfair SP 2.06)

Total: +2.25pts

SOUTHWELL 2.25

I think Lorna Cole may need further to show its best but will be trying to stay on at the finish but maybe too late to win the race, Poyle Vinnie hasn't shown much time wise since 2018, Duke Of Firenze would also need to improve its speed figure to win, Mulzim is my 4th top rated, I've got joint 2nd top rated horses, Ustath and Samovar, on 2020 c/d times but the latter does have a time 2lbs higher using its best 2019 time, I tipped up this horse RED STRIPES 16/1 (EW) on its last run where to be honest it ran very poorly but it is very well handicapped on its best form, it is a front running type of horse and this race gives it the ideal opportunity to lead with no other known front runners in the race and if allowed to dominate from the front it could lead all the way its a shame there's only seven runners as it would have been a good each way bet if there was three places up for grabs.

6:30 Southwell Racing Tips (29th December)

SOUTHWELL 6.30

KING OF STARS 4/1 a 3yo who can lead or track the leaders but time wise from when it won over this c/d it would need to improve a few spots to win this race and maybe worth a lay at the price.

GIOGLOBBO 2/1 has only one slow run over this c/d to its name but its best time from Newcastle would put it in 2nd spot overall and it is another that could attempt to set the pace.

CENTURIAN SONG 13/2 this 3yo has never run over this c/d and has only a mediocre time from Wolverhampton to its name so not sure what to expect.

LORNA COLE 10/1 has run once over this c/d before resulting in a slow time and its best from Wolverhampton would only put it into 4th top spot overall.

SLOWMO 6/1 another possible pacesetter but I don't think surface suits it and i would look to lay it in this race if a single figure price.

OEIL DE TIGRE 50/1 a versatile type with its racing tactics it best c/d time would make it 3rd top on just 2020 times and 5th top spot overall.

MAY THE SIXTH 9/1 once again another possible front runner and this 3yo is 2nd best on just 2020 c/d times and in 3rd top spot on all figures.

TOP BOY 12/1 has only slow times recently as it has been in poor form and another i will look to lay if any value to do so.

RED STRIPES 14/1 this one is another possible pacesetter and has the top rating from 2020 and its good enough for top spot overall.

SUMMARY: With 6 of the 9 runners having led before it looks like it will be a mad dash over the minimum trip, i cannot see it not being one from something racing prominently, May The Sixth my 3rd top overall and 2nd on 2020 c/d times and Gioglobbo who is 2nd top overall on a Newcastle time could go well here but my money will be riding on RED STRIPES 14/1 (EW) hoping it bounces back to form here and leads from start to finish and as long as there is at least eight runners I would back it each way.

2:15 Southwell Racing Tips (17th December)

SOUTHWELL 2.15

Slowmo might not like this surface so a lay, Arzaak is my 3rd top rated so could make the frame, Precious Plum has led before but outside my top 4 ratings, Suwaan not shown much time wise for quite awhile so a lay, Loulin just outside my top 4 ratings, Red Stripes could make all and my 2nd top rated, George Thomas 4th top on my list could make the frame if others falter, Gossip poor recent form and may prefer further, Tan outside my top 4 ratings and may like further, Bluella top on my speed figures and will b staying on at the finish.

SUMMARY: There's a few I could lay if they are of any value to lay, I will be backing two horses, firstly there's RED STRIPES 13/2 who could possibly lead here and then be hard to catch and is only 1lb below BLUELLA 9/1 who is my top rated so this one would need a near perfect ride to catch the leader but its so close on my figures I cannot really split them.

Bluella 9/1 4th (-1pt)
Red Stripes 13/2 5th (-1pt)

SOUTHWELL 5.45

Spring Romance is in good form but mainly in relatively slow run affairs only 4th top on my figures, Little Red Socks hasn't any course form and needs to improve for the switch to this surface, Napping only slow c/d times and this course doesn't seem to suit it so one to lay, Bartat a known front runner but maybe better over further and not quick enough to lead here, Pearl Of Qatar versatile with its racing tactics and is my 2nd top rated, Antagonize no distance form on the AW not sure what to expect so no bet or lay, Dirchill slow time from a sole c/d run, could try to lead but is 0-16 on the AW not sure this surface will suit, The Golden Cue my 3rd top rated on a c/d time its win last time out was a slow run affair could make the frame, Archimedes another one that likes to lead and stall 2 looks ideal plus its my top rated, Pilgrims Pursuit only shown poor form recently, Alqaab also poor recent form.

SUMMARY: A few I could lay depending on the betting but as for my bets to win this race I will again be backing two horses as they are too close to split, ARCHIMEDES 18/1(EW) who is a front runner is my top rated and also has stall 1 so could lead all the way and at the price has to be an each way bet as it has been known to bounce back to form without warning before, it is only 1lb above PEARL OF QATAR 7/1 and this one has very good trainer/jockey stats and from stall 4 it could lead or at least contest the lead from the off or sit on the rails just behind the leader ready to pounce.

Pearl Of Qatar 7/1 4th (-1pt)
Archimedes 40/1 8th (-2pts)

5:00 Southwell Racing Tips & Lay Bets (3rd March)

SOUTHWELL 5.00

A field of 8 take part so I hope they all run, I will look to lay, (Nautical Haven + Youre Cool + Global Humor) Six Strings is on a losing run of 11 and may need further to show its best, Lorna Cole very nearly made the list of horses to lay but it hasnt run here before and nothing says it definitely won't like this surface although I doubt it will, Augustus Caesar is the only 3yo in the race and could go well but will need to improve timewise to win this race, theres 2 known frontrunning types in the race and they are my 2 top rated horses, Moveonup is my 2nd top rated and the trainer has a decent win ratio at this course while the apprentice jockey is making his debut for this stable so im not sure if its a positive or not but I will probably back this one as a covering bet to my main bet on RED STRIPES 4/1 who won last time out and has been found a decent chance to follow up here and the apprentice booked to ride has had 2 rides before and won on one of them so im hoping thats a positive pointer.

Lay bets: Nautical Haven (+1pt) You're Cool (+1pt) Global Humour (+1pt)

SOUTHWELL 7.30

This is a poor looking race and I have negatives against 6 of the 8 runners and I would look to lay (Aquarius + Andra Amar + Jem Scuttle) the 2 at the bottom of the handicap, Star Cracker and Wicklow Warrior, have no form to work with over this c/d but I am thinking they may struggle here but never say never, Intense Style has no c/d form either but has won at this distance on good to soft going so may take to this surface and hence become a danger, I will be having a small wager on PUCHITA 9/4 who won last time out and has been found a good opportunity to follow up in this race.

Punchita 9/4 1st (Unchallenged 6 L)

4:45 Southwell Racing Tips (7th January)

SOUTHWELL 4.45

Only 6 runners and only Cappananty Con 7/2 I can discard from the start as it doesnt appear that it will like this surface and I will be laying it at the price, Astro Jakk could be a hidden danger on its debut over this c/d, Robot Boy 10/1 one of 4 that has been known to lead before but I know nothing about the apprentice jockey but it doesnt seem to be a positive booking so I willbe looking to lay it if it's backed into 8/1 or less, Warriors Valley ran Sunday so if running again so quickly has to be respected but this is a step up in class from that last run but the jockey booking looks a positive move and its another possible leader but I cannot back it in this class, Moonraker is another possible pacesetter and comes out 3rd top and this one also appears to have a positive jockey booking, Samovar likes to track the leaders and could be the one to prosper if the leaders go off too fast and then all fade nearing the finish, looking again it might be a race best left alone, apart from a couple of possible lays, unless the betting gives me something of value to back and take a risk.

SOUTHWELL 6.15

This isn't a great race where I can find negatives against 9 of the entrants, the only one of those 9 is Bonjour Steve who has a recorded time but that was in 2018 and hasn't run since that year so may need this run to gain fitness, Murqaab is my 3rd top-rated and usually likes to track the leaders, the topweight Falcao comes out 2nd top and is the only known frontrunner in the field so stall 12 might not matter too much and could be a danger if allowed to set its own pace but I will be having a bet on ATWAAR 3/1 who has been in decent form lately and has been found a good opportunity to add to its winning tally in this race.

Atwaar 3/1 5th

SOUTHWELL 7.15

This apprentice race isn't the greatest either with only 4 of the 9 having a recorded time to its name, Tan is 4th top but this isn't its favoured surface, Global Melody comes out 3rd top but I did have to go back to 2018 to find its best c/d time which leaves me with 2 main contenders, in 2nd spot I've got Tilsworth Rose who will be trying to stay on at the business end of the race but my top rated RED STRIPES 6/1 is the only known natural frontrunning horse in the race so if allowed an easy lead it could prove hard to catch and I'm hoping it can lead all the way here.

6:45 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (17th October)

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.45

MAJOR BLUE 5/2 may really need a longer trip to show its best form, timewise it needs to find a bit to win this race so one I would look to lay at such a short price.

GLAMOROUS ROCKET 17/2 has won over this c/d but in a slow run affair, it won't get an easy lead in this race so another one to lay.

KNOCKABOUT QUEEN 7/1 is 0-4 on the AW and races as though further would suit while its best time from Lingfield(different surface) wouldn't see it winning here.

HARD SOLUTION 7/2 hasn't any c/d form to its name but has a very good time to its name on g/f going on grass and a repeat of that would see it winning here.

LANDING NIGHT 17/2 has a time from 2018 that would make it my top-rated its form since then hasn't been anywhere near that level but could be dangerous if bouncing back to form.

ANGEL FORCE 7/1 has a bit to find timewise to win this race and I think that's mainly down to the horse not really liking this Tapeta surface so maybe one to lay.

RED STRIPES 11/1 stall 1 for a front runner is always a bonus and it should go well in this race and its best 2018 time would see it 2nd top on my list.

LONGROOM 25/1 has a reasonable time recorded on this surface at Newcastle but its losing run of 11 races is off-putting but could possibly make the frame.

IT MUST BE FAITH 25/1 its sole run over this c/d was poor and I think it might be better over a longer trip so should be staying on here and could make the frame.

SHEPHERDS PURSE 15/2 this one has 0-22 record on the AW tracks is enough to put me off especially as it races as though further is needed to show its worth so not for me here.

TEEPEE TIME 25/1 is on a losing run of 21 races it has won at the distance but in a slow time and this surface might not be ideal.

SUMMARY: I've narrowed it down to 4 horses that are of interest, Landing Night could go well if navigating a clear run from stall 10 with 3 other early paced types drawn on its inside, It Must be Faith would be thereabouts on its best 2018 time but hasn't shown as much so far this year, Hard Solution has a fast time on turf to take into account which, it went well here over 6 furlongs and this drop in trip won't hinder its chances, I will most likely back all 3 of the horses mentioned but only as covering bets for my selection RED STRIPES 11/1 who has been in form lately and could lead all the way here from the plum stall 1 draw and has to be given as an each-way punt.

6:50 Chelmsford Racing Tips (28th September)

CHELMSFORD 6.50

It looks like the weather will scupper any plans to have a bet this afternoon so thanks for the AW tracks, its a shame there's only 6 runners in this class 2 conditions race and with no known frontrunners in the race its still a tricky race to solve, if there is a fast early pace then both Royal Birth and Harry's Bar may struggle to stay the 6th furlong while Peggie Sue may prefer a slower surface to show its best, Tropics would need to improve timewise to win this race which leaves me with SHIMMERING DAWN 4/1 who is top-rated on 2019 times and LANCELOT DU LUC 5/2 who comes out top overall using its best 2018 time but hasn't any course form this year to work with, so I will have to go with backing them both.

Shimmering Dawn 4/1 4th
Lancelot Du Luc 7/1 3rd

CHELMSFORD 8.20

There's a lot of conflicting form lines here but I have come to a conclusion, Roundabout Magic would be top rated using its best times from Lingfield last year but a losing run of 16 and the jockeys 1-54 win record on this stables older horses are putting me off, Camino is well weighted on its best form at Lingfield but its 0-22 record on the AW tracks puts me off, Precious Plum is 2nd top-rated on this years times and could be the favourite, Kath's Lustre’s losing run of 15 is off-putting and may prefer a longer trip to shine, my money will be on RED STRIPES 15/2 who is the only natural-looking frontrunner in the race has had some luck in getting drawn in stall 1 so I'm hoping it can get out quickly gain control of the rails and lead all the way and it looks positive with the 5lb claiming apprentice who has a good record for the stable.
