4:10 Haydock - Racing Tips (9th September)

This blog is going to be a bit different than my normal blogs as I've got 5 sprints to look so it will be a short summary for each race.

Haydock 4.10 5 Furlongs - 

Copper Knight stall 9, Lihou stall 2 and Tees Spirit stall 12 are usually front running types and if any of them get an easy lead they could be dangerous but they could set the race up for LOOK OUT LOUIS 12/1 (EW) who usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish but admittedly it hasn't been in great form recently but its best course and distance rating from last year would be good enough to win this race and at the price an each way wager looks the way forward.

Thirsk 4.25 6 Furlongs - 

On all known form Brazen Bolt should be the one to set the early pace but it needs to improve time wise to win this race, Gathanfar could go well if it bounces back to form, my money will be riding on STERLING KNIGHT 5/1 who usually likes to track the leaders before staying on resolutely nearing the finish and a repeat of the rating it achieved at Windsor this year would give it every chance of returning to the winners circle.

Ascot 5.30 5 Furlongs  - 

A cracking looking class 2 race with plenty of early paced horses in the field and this race could be won from the front, Mountain Peak stall 11 could go well if reproducing its best 2022 rating from Haydock, Swayze stall 12 has got the best rating for just this year which it recorded at Windsor but this is a very stiff course and stamina will come into play here, if SPRING BLOOM 6/1 stall 1 gets to the front it could prove a very hard nut to crack if repeating its best 2022 rating which also came at Windsor.

Wolverhampton 7.30 5 Furlongs  -

This race has plenty of early paces types with 4 known front runners, Bang On The Bell or Cinque Verde could do best of those early paced sorts and if one gets an easy lead then it could be dangerous, the top weighted Nelson Gay recorded a rating at Newcastle which would make it my joint top rated but its one run over this course and distance was poor so I will be siding with STREET LIFE 12/1 (EW) who will like having something to aim at in the closing stages and hinted at a return to form when doing its best time this year when it was placed over this course and distance and is a big enough price to go with an each way punt.

I think the 3 possible pacesetters in this race will be setting it up for something coming from just off the pace, Captain Corcoran is top rated if I used a Southwell rating recorded in 2022 but its form over this course and distance hasn't been anywhere near as good which puts me off enough to leave it alone but that fact does mean i wont be betting heavily in this race, I'm hoping that SUANNI 16/1 (EW) can repeat its best rating from 2022 over this course and distance by tracking the leaders and then staying on the stronger nearing the finish so at the price it has to be an each way punt.

4:42 Musselburgh Racing Tips (5th July)

MUSSELBURGH 4.42 

5F Class 4 7-Runners I can see 3 known front running types in this dash so I expect it will be a fast and furious pace from the off, Venturous 8/1 and Rock Melody 7/2 might not like to encounter fast good to firm ground so might get outpaced here if the going is fast but the latter is a 4yo who won last time out and could be capable of improving further but would need to improve a good few spots to win this race. Glory Fighter and maybe Resilience will ensure there's a fast early pace but if COPPER KNIGHT 4/1 can get to the front and get the fractions right it could lead all the way for victory and will be carrying my money.

6F Class 3 8-Runners There's three 3yo’s in this race which can sometimes make analysis more difficult but maybe not in this case, I couldn't lay either of Danger Alert 7/2 or Zaman Jemil 8/1, (nor anything else to lay in this race), but I also couldn't back them as they have shown very little time wise and would need to improve to win this race but that's what 3yo’s can do, improve without warning. Ghathanfar 14/1 and Music Society 13/2 are capable of producing good ratings when in the mood and could make the frame if on song. My money will be riding on ROCK OF ENGLAND 11/2 who led all the way the time before last when winning at Hamilton and a repeat of that rating would see it winning with a bit too spare.

2:32 Thirsk Racing Tips (20th May)

Note: OK, I'm fed up with the going reports and it seems that anywhere could be hit with the odd heavy showers so I'm going to send an abridged version for some sprints so as not to waste my time and you will have to check that the going is good or better before you waste any money. 

THIRSK 2.32 

Papa Don't Preach 13/2 I will look to lay it as I think it needs some cut in the going so if the going is good or better I will lay it I will also lay A Pint Of Bear 10/1 if it becomes a single figure price may need the run for fitness and a longer distance might suit it better. LEODIS DREAM 9/1 is my top rated and likes to track the leaders before staying on the stronger nearing the finish so this race might well be run to suit its preferred racing tactics.

I can see 3 possible lays in this race Mojomaker who may need this run for fitness but this one if it comes down to a single figure price which I doubt but put it up just in case. Hiya Mate 8/1 hasn't produced anything worthwhile time wise and might prefer some cut in the ground… Bay Breeze 7/1 probably needs fast good to firm ground to show its best but I doubt it will be that fast a going. RATHBONE 8/1 is a front running type and its stall 10 draw could help its cause and hopefully it can lead all the way and get back to winning ways and hinted at a return to form when finishing 3rd last time out and the jockey has a 3-9 record when riding for the stable.

Not sure there will be anything of value to lay in this race. Spring Bloom 4/1 recorded a very fast time at Windsor last year but that time is looking like a fluke result but just in case its not it might be worth having a covering bet on it but the price doesn't really look to be of value, its one of two known front running types in this race. ANCIENT TIMES 7/1 is my 2nd top rated and is the other front running type and could lead all the way and the jockey has a 29% win ratio when riding for the stable.

2:00 Thirsk Racing Tips (6th May)

THIRSK 2.00 

A class 4 sprint with 16 runners but just 1 known front runner in the shape of Cooperation 10/1 coming out of stall 8 and if heads across to the rails those drawn higher could get squeezed out but i doubt it can lead all the way, As If By Chance 7/1 produces high ratings but in lower class races than this one. Run This Way hasn't been in good form lately but is capable on its day, Bay Breeze will be to the fore in the betting after winning last time out on soft ground and could run well again here and could follow up with another win, it's really a hard race to analyse and it looks competitive for a class 4 race but I am going to take a punt on one I think will be an outsider in this race and that is ABOLISH 12/1 (EW) who is often held up for a late run but here its drawn in stall 7 so it could get a good tow across towards the rails but the horse drawn just inside of it and therefore gain a good position from which to attack nearing the finish and I think/hope it will be an each way price.

I must be mad trying to analyse a 23 runner class 2 sprint where they could run as 1 group or split into 2 or possibly 3 groups and on this course when that happens its hard to predict which side will prove to have the faster going. One that could set the pace to the race is Equiano Springs 40/1 who is drawn in stall 17 and could be dangerous if the better ground favours those drawn high but the betting says its not really fancied, I doubt many will be a single figure price in this race but I am going to hope that those drawn low have just as much or even better chance of winning as I will be backing TANAMAWWY 7/1 who finished 2nd in a race 15 days ago so is in good form, it is also my top rated while the trainer has a 21% win ratio on this course with their older horses and the jockey has an overall strike-rate of 21% for the stable it moves up to 28% on the stables older horses.

NEWMARKET 4.00

Another big field but this time 17 for a Group 3 dash where 9 of the runners have been known to lead before, *Mountain Peak and Korker would be my 2 top rated horses using a class 2 sprint at Haydock last year both may need this run for fitness and I doubt they are up to winning at this level, I doubt there will be many at a single figure price so I doubt I can find a value lay for the race. Manaccan is a front running type drawn in stall 1 so if the low numbers have an advantage it could go well and has the legend Frankie Dettori riding it but this one might need this for fitness and has to prove itself at this level but has won in Listed class and a Group 3 win in Ireland on the All-Weather surface at Dundalk. My money will be riding on RAASEL 12/1 (EW) who looks capable of winning at this level but the trainers record of 1-29 at this course is a bit off-putting but the stable have switched back to James Doyle as their jockey and he has a 31% win ratio for the stable and at the price has to be given as an each way wager.

A field of 9 for this class 3 sprint with a couple of known front running types one of them is Aberama Gold 5/1 who comes out 5th top on my figures but has poorish trainer/jockey stats so might be worth laying, Woven 14/1 hasn't won a race since 2020 which doesn't inspire confidence and it will most likely need this run for fitness so I will look to lay this one but not at that price, Treacherous 8/1 is capable of good ratings but is another that hasn't won since 2020 but it could run well here but well enough to win I'm not sure one way or the other, Fast And Furious 7/2 is another that looks likely to need this run for fitness, so there is 4 that I could lay for one reason or another but they all have decent speed ratings but I will be backing DANZAN 7/1 who is the other known front running type in the race and as this one had a run just under a month ago i hope that got it back to full fitness and it can lead all the way.

2:55 Thirsk Racing Tips (26th August)

THIRSK 2.55 

An eleven runner race with a couple of horses that have been known to lead before, as for any lays I will be looking to lay Good Earth 5/1 who can struggle to stay the distance in a fast run affair although it is my 4th top rated, Intrinsic Bond is my 3rd top rated and usually races in midfield before staying on at the finish, Music Society is my 2nd top rated but hasn't been in the best of form recently, my top rated is RATHBONE 16/1 who is also the one I expect to set the pace to this race and if leading could prove a hard nut to crack and hopefully the apprentices 7lb claim will swing even further in its favour.

1:45 Nottingham Racing Tips (12th August)

NOTTINGHAM 1.45 

Class 6 race over 5 furlongs with 8 runners, I might look to lay Porfin 4/1 who won last time out over a furlong further so might find today's trip too short also No Guts No Glory 11/2 who’s form looks quite good on paper but they were all relatively slow times and another where further might suit it better, Harrogate looks the one likely to set the pace to the race and if allowed to dictate it could possibly lead all the way but it hasn't been in the best of form lately, GRANDFATHER TOM 3/1 is my 2nd top rated and top on just 2022 ratings while COLEY'S KOKO 6/1 is 2nd top on 2022 figures and top rated by just 1lb on overall figures, neither have great trainer/jockey stats so I will have to back both of them.

Class 4 race over 5 furlongs with 7 runners, there is 3 that have led before and Abate may do best of that trio being my 2nd top rated horse, *Ballet Steps will be a lay if of value to do so as I don't think good to firm ground suits it, Good Luck Fox is my 3rd top rated but top spot belongs to the 3yo DUSKY PRINCE 9/2 who has been in good form completing its hattrick of wins before finishing 4th last time out and a repeat of its best time from Goodwood would be good enough to see it back to winning ways.

WOLVERHAMPTON 4.18 

Class 6 race over 6 furlongs with 9 runners, I can see a couple of known pacesetters in Ustath my joint 4th top rated and Stay Smart who is my 3rd top rated and this one is dropped in class to run in this race but hasn't been in good form recently so its the old old battle between form and class but I couldn't back it on its recent form but with an easy lead and rejuvenated by meeting lessor horses it just could possibly win this race but it too big a risk for me to get involved unless its an each way price or its seriously backed, Q Twenty Boy 7/2 is a course and distance winner but can struggle to stay the distance if there's a fast early gallop so this race might not be run to suit it, Mutabaahy comes out 2nd best on my figures but this 7yo hasn't shown any noteworthy form of late but could make the frame if on a going day but my money will be riding on CATESBY 5/1 who recorded its best rating earlier this year and showed its liking for this Tapeta surface when finishing 2nd last time out at Southwell after being slowly away and where it was beaten by Ustath but meets that rival on 8lbs better terms and if away on level terms here should reverse the form.

Class 4 race over 6 furlongs with 7 runners, I'm not sure what to expect from Counsel who won last time out over a furlong further and hasn't any form over this distance that was a decent enough race and it was always up with in the firing line so could easily be good enough to win this race, on ratings over today's distance Wajd comes out in joint top spot along with Equiano Springs so I think this race is best left alone.

THIRSK 6.07 

Class 4 race over 5 furlongs with 8 runners and 5 of them have been known to lead before so it should be a fast and furious dash, Alligator Alley 5/2 hasn't been in good form lately and hasn't won since 2019 and although this is a drop in class I'm not sure whether I should lay it or not, on just 2022 ratings there is only 1lb between my top 3 horses Birkenhead, Khabib and MODULAR MAGIC 8/1 but the latter has a rating from 2021 that would see it winning this race a shade cosily and looking at the early tissue prices it might be the value call in this race and if getting to the front it might prove hard to peg back.

1:10 Thirsk Racing Tips (22nd July)

THIRSK 1.10 

Typical a nice looking sprint until I noticed there's not any known front running types in this race but that means this race might not be run to suit Dandy Spirit, Foreseeable Future and Gullane One who might be better over further or when there's a fast pace over this distance although the latter has never run over today's distance before, Country Charm who usually races in midfield is my third top rated in this race so could make the frame as could Orchid rose my second top rated in this race but i will be putting my faith and a small amount of money on COLEY'S KOKO 25/1 (EW) and if it can reproduce its best from this year it should win this race but if reproducing its best speed figure from Ripon in 2021 it would win this race with a bit too spare but at such a big price it has to be worth an each way punt. 

Coley's Koko 25/1 6th -2pts

YORK 6.25 

With known front runners drawn in stalls 1,2,12 and 14 the pace should be spread across the course so nothing should be at a disadvantage, of those front running types Bossipop in stall 1 and Rhythm in stall 14 could do best of those running to the fore especially as the latter is my 3rd top rated, as for any lays Good Earth 9/2 needs to improve time wise and might struggle to stay the distance with a fast early pace, Lezardieux is my 4th top rated but this race might not be run to suit it, Captain Vallo comes out in 2nd top spot position so might be worth an each way punt but my money will be riding on DREAM TOGETHER 14/1 (EW) who likes to fast good to firm ground and likes to track the leaders before staying on the stronger at the finish and hopefully it will be an each way price.

There looks to be 3 front running types in this race and they are my 3 top rated horses as well so most of the runners wont be able to get involved in the finish, I might look to lay Rhubarb in this race as it might be better when racing over further, the top weight Amor De Mi Vida could be the one to prosper if they go off too fast and fade nearing the finish but I doubt that will happen, I have only 1lb between my 3rd top rated Coronation Cottage and my 2nd top rated Pop Dancer but if the 3yo FAIR AND SQUARE 6/1 can reproduce the rating it recorded at Windsor earlier this year it would win this race a shade cosily.

4:00 Thirsk Racing Tips (29th June)

THIRSK 4.00 

The early pace to this race could well be set by Rathbone 6/1 and it could do enough to make the frame if it can reproduce its best speed figure/rating it recorded in 2021, as for something to lay I will be relying on Pendleton 4/1 and this will probably be my main way of making a profit from this race as it doesn't seem to reproduce its best on good to firm ground, Total Commitment and Cairn Gorn could both go well and could possibly make the frame but as for the winner I will have my money riding on the 3yo MOJOMAKER 6/1 who likes to track the leaders and if reproducing the rating it recorded at Doncaster this year it would win this race a shade cosily but the stable hasn't been in good form recently which is a little off-putting so my stakes wont be at full strength.

Only 6 runners but 2 of them are known front runners, I'm not sure if there's anything I could lay with any confidence, as for the winner Primos Comet 13/2 has a rating from 2021 that would make it my top rated but its best rating so far this year has been well below that level, Militia 11/4 is a possible pacesetter here and could go well if reproducing its best rating recorded at Catterick last year but I will be siding with MODULAR MAGIC 4/1 who is the other front running type and if getting to the front it could prove hard to catch and the jockey booking (go look in the Racing Post to see how good the stats really are) looks a positive booking so hopefully connections are expecting it to get back to winning ways.

I can see 3 possible pacesetters in this race but think they will be setting the race up for something coming from off the front but Big Time Maybe 8/1 could do best of the trio and comes out 2nd best on my figures but isn't keen on really fast ground, I will look to lay But You Said 3/1 who hasn't had any form over this distance and may need further to show to show its best form and its still a maiden after 21 races with 13 of them being on grass, Darcy's Rock 8/1 hasn't shown much worthwhile form so far but as a 3yo it could improve and I would have laid it if under five to one, my money will be riding on WE’RE REUNITED 8/1 who likes to track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish and the jockey booking does look a positive one.

2:55 Thirsk Racing Tips (14th June)

THIRSK 2.55 

A field of 12 for this class 4 sprint, the early paced could be set by The Armed Man and/or Spartan Fighter and either could be dangerous if allowed an easy lead but there's a few that like to track the leaders which should ensure there is a fast early gallop, Huddle Up 9/1 doesn't seem to like fast going so will be a lay if of value to do so, East Street Revue seems better over shorter distances but I expect it will too big a price to lay, Badri is my 4th top rated and one that likes to track the leaders, as for finding the winner I have got 3 horses that could do so but all 3 also have negatives against their name, WENTWORTH FALLS 10/1 who’s jockey is 0-12 for the stable and the stable has a poorish win ratio of 8%, GHATHANFAR 4/1 the trainer is 0-14 runners and 42 days since their last winner and at this course they are 1-59 and the jockey is 0-15 for the stable, CAPTAIN VALLO 8/1 the trainer is 1-33 at this course with their older horses and its been 25 days and 8 runners since their last winner, I think I will go with dutching the 3 of them but my stakes will be kept on the low side because of those negatives.

A ten runner dash with two front running types, I could look to lay both of the 3yo’s in this race but I am always wary of doing so because at their age they can improve without warning although I think both of them will be better suited to a longer distance but hey ho I am no expert and have been caught out before laying young horses, Lost My Sock 5/1 also races as though it will be better off over further but comes out 3rd top rated on my figures so could run on and make the frame, Cool Spirit 25/1 is actually my top rated but only by 2lb’s and hasn't been in good form lately and doesn't usually win without giving a warning of a return to form before actually winning a race so i will place my money on HARROGATE 13/2 who is one of the 2 front runners I mentioned earlier and could hopefully lead all the way here and did win two runs ago so is in decent form.

Only six runners with two known front running types amongst them, both Iconic Knight 9/2 and Tributo 15/2 look as though they would be better racing over further and might be worth laying, Equally Fast 11/4 could do best of those coming from off the pace being my 2nd top rated, Street Parade 11/4 one of the front running types is my 3rd top rated so could go well but i will be hoping that AISH 13/2 will be the one to set the pace to the race and if getting to the front it could prove hard to catch and is dropped in class to run in this race and the trainer has a 19% win ratio at this course.

2:20 Brighton Racing Tips (31st May)

BRIGHTON 2.20 

A shame there's on 7 runners but hey ho it is what it is, firstly I will be looking to lay Shamshon 5/2 who might have been flattered when it finished 3rd last time out in what turned out to be a slow run affair and the pace in this race might be lot faster, Bowling Russiain 14/1 is my 2nd top rated but it is another that can struggle to stay the distance if there's a fast early pace but it might have been a worthwhile each way bet if there was 8 runners and 3 places up for grabs, I think the pace will be set by DOC SPORTELLO 8/1 who is my top rated and also the only known front running type in the race so it should be able to lead and if doing so will prove hard to catch and today's jockey has a good 31% win ratio when riding for the stable.

Another 7 runner race with a couple of possible pacesetters, as for lays in this race I can see two that might fit the bill, I think Kath's Toyboy 11/4 will be better suited to a longer distance and has only won once from 20 races so isn't a prolific winner also Hope Springs 5/1 who again might be better when racing over further and this one has poorish trainer stats and the jockey is 0-6 for the stable, King Crimson 8/1 is a front running type who comes out 2nd top rated on my figures so could go well but my top rated horse STREET PARADE 4/1 is the other front running type and if this one gets to the front it could prove hard to catch.

This doesn't look too bad for a class 5 race apart from there's quite a few relatively lightly run horses with not much data to work with which always makes analysis hard plus a field of 16 makes the task even harder, I've no idea what will set the pace to this race but I've found 2 horses that have ratings that are usually found in slightly better races than this one, DREAM TOGETHER 13/2 is my 2nd top rated but only 1lb off of the top spot and in the last 2 weeks the stable has sent out 9 horses of which 2 have won so the stable is in good form and this one has to be backed if the ground is the good to firm ground that it likes best, my top rated horse in this is HAIL SEZER 10/1 and this ones trainer 2-7 in the last 2 weeks, so another in form stable and if the ground is good `or faster I will be backing them both but might cut it down to just my top rated if the going is just good ground.

2:55 Thirsk Racing Tips (14th May)

THIRSK 2.55

A field of 9 in this class 4 race with First Company the one most likely to set the pace unless something else decides to change its usual racing tactics but I doubt it can hold on for the win, if the going is good to firm then Ballintoy Harbour 10/1 could run well and might be worth an each way punt, Leodis Dream 15/2 has a time from Windsor last year that would put it in the mix and it usually likes to track the leaders, Havagomecca 7/1 is my 2nd top rated and is usually held up for a late run but ATLYAH 6/1 likes to sit just behind the leaders ready to pounce and comes out top on my figures, the trainers record of 0-7 at this course isn't great but the jockey is 2-4 when riding for the stable.

CHELMSFORD 3.45 

The betting will decide if there's any lays in this race but Sir Rodneyredblood 7/1, Harold Shand and Twilight Madness 5/1 are potential candidates, Toussarak is my 3rd top rated and usually runs on strongly at the finish, Crimson Sands 3/1 and City Walk 11/2 are both dropped in class to run in this race and could go well and on times the former could do best of the pair, my money will be riding on ARAIFJAN 15/2 who won in this class of race last time out but has been raised four pounds by the official handicapper, it is a versatile type when it comes to racing tactics and maybe in the make up of this race from stall 8 wont attempt to lead but could sit handily and stay on the stronger at the finish.

A very competitive looking class 3 sprint with fourteen runners, Saluti might prefer a longer distance but would need to improve time wise if others run to their best, RATHBONE 11/2 is the one that I expect will set the pace to this race and is my joint 2nd top rated so could do enough to at least make the frame and if allowed the luxury of an easy lead could hold on for the win I'm not sure how good the 7lb claiming apprentice is but if worth the full 7lbs it comes out in top spot, Tinto is my original top rated but hasn't been in the best of form recently the trainer has poorish single figure win ratio at this course but the jockey has a decent 17% win ratio on the stables older horses, Music Society starts off as joint 2nd top but drops to 3rd top spot but the jockeys poor 1-20 win ratio for the stable is a bit off-putting but it will be staying on at the finish but maybe too late for the win but could make the frame.

Let me stay from the start this isn't really a race to be betting in too heavily in but PRINCE OF BEL LIR 4/1 won last time out over this distance at Yarmouth 18 days ago which is a reasonably flat course so this course should also suit it and the rating it recorded in that race puts it well clear of anything else I've got a rating for in this race and could lead all the way here and follow up that Yarmouth win, yes it is raised in class from a 5 to a 4 but this 4yo ought to be able to win at this slightly higher class, I don't expect it will be anything but the favourite for this race I'm just hoping its not too short a price.

I can see a three front running types in this class 4 dash but one of them Aish 10/1 may be outclassed at this level, Tees Spirit 11/4 is another possible pacesetter but its speed figure when it won last time out was relatively slow in a class 5 race so may not be able to lead here in this higher level event and if its the shortish priced favourite then I would probably look to lay it, Cooperation 20/1 may do better when racing over further but will be staying on at the finish and could make the frame so could be worth an each way interest at the price, I will be hoping that JUST THAT LORD 6/1 who has been racing in higher class races can set the pace to this race and hold on for the win.

A field of 11 runners where 7 of them are 3yo’s and its been a favourite saying of mine that 3yo’s don't win against their elders until at least June (that didn't work out right yesterday with Flaming Rib) so I will at a risk discount all 7 of them from my idea of the winner, looking at the early tissue prices Lullaby Baby 2/1 and Eruption 7/2 are forecast to be the first two in the betting they both won last time out but time wise both races were run in relatively slow times so maybe taken on with a lay bet but it will be kept to small stakes if I do lay them, I will look to lay Lady Nectar 10/1 who might be better when racing over a longer distance, Boudica Bay 18/1 has been known to lead before but hasn't been in good form lately so I'm not sure what to expect from it but could make the frame if leading but I will be having a small bet on COLEY'S KOKO 7/1 who hinted at a return to form when finishing 4th last time out, the stable hasn't had a winner for a long time now, 1244 days to be exact, but in their defence during that time they haven't sent out any runners so i hope this gets the stable a well needed winner.

I've found three possible front runners in this race and I'm hopeful that one of them could lead all the way, Harrogate 8/1 could try to lead but time wise would need to improve a few spots while Koropick 7/1 has poor trainer 0-4 and jockey 0-19 stats and its been over 2000 days since the stable last had a winner plus the horse has only won once from its 21 AW races so has to be a lay bet, Val De Travers 10/3 may not want it to be good to firm ground to show its best form, Lost My Sock might need further to show its best, i will be putting my money on MORTY 10/3 who has finished 2nd on its last 2 runs and has been found a good opportunity to go one better in this race.

A 15 runner race with a couple of known front runners, if the going is good to firm I will have a few to lay but I somehow doubt it will dry out that much but hopefully the going will be at least good if not then there won't be any bets, it looks quite a competitive race which I would expect for a class 3 race, the 3yo Just Frank is a possible pacesetter and could go well but hasn't any form on good or good to firm ground, Dazzling Dan, Chairmanoftheboard and Blackheath all have times that could see them make the frame but I am hoping that RATHBONE 5/1 can get away quickly and if getting to the front it could lead all the way.

There is 11 runners but no known front running types amongst them which means my stakes will be kept low, the betting will tell if there is anything worth laying but it doesn't look very promising, I'm Watching You is my 3rd top rated horse but the trainer is 0-17 in the last 2 weeks which doesn't fill me with confidence, Amathus comes out 2nd best on overall figures but top rated on just 2021 times, my money will be riding on EPSOM FAITHFUL 4/1 who finished 2nd last time out on the AW and if it can reproduce its best time from 2020 at Windsor it would be winning a shade cosily.

An 8 runner race with a couple of front runners in Green Door and Liberty Bay and the latter is my 3rd top rated and being a 3yo it could still improve and would need to to win this race but could do enough to make the frame, Attys Edge comes out 2nd best using a time from 2020 but its 2021 is only 1lb below Liberty Bay’s 2021 time, my top rated is GLAMOROUS FORCE 3/1 who’s best time came at Bath and a repeat of that time would see it winning a shade cosily but the trainer is 0-17 in the last 2 weeks although its only 3 weeks since their last win but it does temper my bet so only a small win.

Another 8 runner race with just one known front runner amongst them, there is a few who race as though further would suit them better and this race might not be run to suit them and the betting will guide me to which ones to lay, Melody King comes out in 3rd top spot and will be trying to stay on strongly at the finish, sitting in 2nd top spot is Iris Dancer who is another that will be trying to stay on at the business end of the race but maybe none of them will be able to catch SHESADABBER 12/1 (EW) who could be allowed an easy lead here and being my top rated it will be carrying my money in this race and at the double figure price it has to be an each way bet.

I'm hoping the ground dries out enough for me to have a bet in this race, so it needs to be good or firmer else no bets, I am a bit wary of laying 3yo’s but I think Zoom Star 8/1 may need further to show its best and may finish too late to catch the leaders in this race so it might be worth taking the risk, Glorious Rio 6/1 who has a fast time on the AW at Newcastle but it hasn't any distance form on turf on good or better going it also has poor trainer/jockey stats and is a maiden on turf after 8 attempts although it has made the frame in 3 of those races so maybe worth laying the win part for this horse, Aleef doesn't want the ground to be too quick underfoot to show its best and the trainers 1-30 record at this course puts me off its chances, I will be backing both of the horses that I think might set the pace to the race, HARROGATE 7/2 is 2nd best on this years times and on overall times but there is only 2lbs between it and BOUDICA BAY 10/3 and this one has good trainer/jockey stats and has been in good form lately with 2 wins and a second place on its last 3 runs.

I love AW racing but this is a strange looking race, there is 2, Little Miss Lilly and Cool Spirit, known front running types and a 3rd, Something Lucky, that has been known to lead but maybe only when nothing else wants to set the pace it has a time from 2019 that would make it my 2nd top rated but has been well below that level since then, the top weight Jungle Inthebungle has a time from Newcastle last year that would make it my top rated but its last few runs were quite poor and may need this run for fitness after 235 days since its last race, Signore Piccollo 9/4 has won this year over this course and distance but it was a slow run affair and might be poor value because of that win plus the trainer is 0-15 for the last 2 weeks, my money will be riding on MANUMISSION 16/1 (EW) who usually stays on strongly nearing the finish over this distance and the trainer has had 3 winners in the last 2 weeks so the stable is in decent form and at the price it has to be given as an each way wager.

This is a decent looking class 4 race but there is a couple of 3yo’s and 6 lightly raced 4yo’s so my stakes will be kept low, Legende D’art 9/2 is still a maiden after 11 runs, it finished 2nd last time out over this distance on good to firm ground but it was a slow run affair and it might have flattered it and looks as though it will be better when racing over further and I will look to lay it, Jack Ryan also might have been flattered when finishing 2nd last time out in a slow run affair and if a single figure price I would look to lay it, Recall The Show comes out 2nd best on my speed figures but the trainer is 0-6 for the last 2 weeks, i will be backing the 3yo AL SAARLYAH 4/1 who likes to track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish and it has good trainer/jockey stats so I'm hoping that's a good pointer.

I think Wrenthorpe could set the pace to this race but would need to improve time wise to hold on for the win while Cowboy Soldier will make sure the leader sets a decent early pace but it doesn't make my top 3 ratings but could make the frame if others falter but its closely rated along with Lomu, Secretinthepark, Princess Power and The Bell Conductor so any of them could make the frame, *SOUL SEEKER 9/4 comes out best on my figures now that Fashion Advice is a non-runner and will be staying on at the finish so has to be the selection but i do hate backing favourites but I cannot find anything to take it on with.

JOHN KIRKUP 11/2 trainer has had 5 -41 in the last 2 weeks and stats 9% win ratio all runners 5% older horses only, can be held up or track the leaders,may prefer some cut in the ground, so one I would look to lay in the going is good or better.

STARS IN THE NIGHT 6/1 usually tracks the leaders, trainer has 4-24 record in last 2 weeks, trainer stats 13% and 15% for just older horses, jockey stat 15% both age groups, another I would look to lay.

ROYAL CONTEX usually tracks the pacesetters, trainer 5-41 in last 2 weeks, trainer stats 9% all horses but only 5% with older horses, jockey is 12% and 10%, poor recent form and another I would like to lay IF its a single figure price.

READY FREDDIE GO 3yo again likes to track the early pace, trainer is 1-10 in last 2 weeks, trainer stats, 4% overall, 6% for just 3yo’s, 0-23 for older horses, jockey 21% overall, 25% 3yo’s and 20% for older horses, comes out 4th top so could possibly make the frame.

PRINCESS POWER 6/1 trainer is 2-38 for last 2 weeks, trainer stats 7% overall and 4% with older horses, jockey stats 9% overall and 12% on older horses, my 3rd top rated and will be trying to stay on strongly nearing the finish but isn't really an each way price.

QUEEN OF KALAHARI 13/2 trainer is 1-11 last 2 weeks, trainer stats 13% and 15%, jockey stats 14% and 18%, last won in 2019 and another i would look to lay at the price.

SHALAA ASKER 3yo trainer is 1-9 in last 2 weeks, trainer stats 1-11 overall, 0-4 with 3yo’s, 1-3 with older horses, jockey stats 8% overall, 6% with 3yo’s, 8% with oder horses, is my 2nd top rated and usually tracks the leaders.

LOST MY SOCK 8/1 3yo trainer is 9-87 in last 2 weeks, trainer stats 8% overall, 7% with 3yo’s, 12% with older horses, jockey stats 12% overall, 13% with 3yo’s, 14% with older horses, usually runs in midfield but may find this too far if there's a fast early pace so maybe a possible lay.

KOROPICK trainer is 0-4 in last 2 weeks, trainer stats 0-11 overall, jockey stats 0-5 overall, races midfield, poor recent form and hasn't won since 2017 and a big outsider.

SUMMARY: I have mentioned a possible lay about 6 of the 9 runners the reason I am undecided is because of the lack of known front runners so any stakes will be kept low, I am hoping for at least a decent early pace (something has got to lead so lets hope more than one horse changes its usual racing tactics and they take each other on for the lead) Koropick has a fast time in a lower class race but hasn't won since 2017 and that time is looking a fluke when it got carried along in a fast run race and I'm doubting it can repeat that time, Ready Freddie Go is my 3rd top rated who has poor trainer stats but good jockey stats so I'm not sure which set of data is correct for here but could make the frame, Princess Power is my 2nd top rated and does need a fast pace to aim at and if there is a good early pace it could with a clear run make the frame but my money, well pennies, will be riding on the 3yo SHALAA ASKER 4/1 who likes to track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish but if the early pace is a slow one then anything could win so caution is the keyword.

4:10 Ascot Racing Tips (23rd July)

ASCOT 4.10 

Only 6 runners with 4 of them having led before it could be a fast and furious 5 furlong dash, the bottom two, Mountain Peak 8/1 and Bedford Flyer 7/1 have a negative against their names so may be worth laying, Jawwaal 11/4 will need the leaders to tire badly to catch them, Tis Marvellous and Significantly could both try to lead but on overall speed figures they may struggle to keep up with CASPIAN PRINCE 9/1 who if getting to the front could prove hard to catch especially if it can reproduce its best time Musselburgh earlier this year and looks the value call in the race if nothing else.

There's a couple of known front runners in this race but neither feature top 4 ratings, I will look to lay Celerity 9/1 if its still a single figure price near the off which I doubt will happen, Hard Solution 9/2 may need a longer trip on good to firm ground it nearly always runs well but I'm doubting it will stay on fast enough to win this race so maybe another worth laying, the 3yo Royal Jazz has only a slow time over this distance on good ground and despite being a possible pacesetter it will need to improve time wise to win this race and may get taken on for the lead by Spirit Power and both may fade nearing the finish and if it wasn't for the fact that Royal Jazz is a 3yo I would out it up as a lay, Hello Girl 14/1 is my 2nd top rated on both 2021 times and overall figures so maybe worth a small each way punt but I will be backing the 3yo ALBEGONE 4/1 who recorded its best time this year over this course and distance and a repeat would see it winning again.

For a class 4 race this is quite poor although I cannot see anything of value to put forward as a lay but the betting might change my mind, Hurstwood is my 3rd top rated using a time recorded at Ripon this year and usually likes to track the leaders but I cannot see a natural front running type in the race which always causes me problems in analysing a race, sitting in 2nd top spot is Gunmetal but this ones best time also came from last year at Ripon but I have OBEE JO 11/2 sitting in top pot with a few spots in hand, it won last time out and has been found a good opportunity to follow up in this race and booked jockey has a 20% win ratio on the stables older horses.

A 5 furlong dash with 3 known front running types in the race and those 3 are all in my top 5 ratings, I will look to lay Gherkin who may need further and may also lay Toptime and Glamorous Breeze who are 3yo’s which means they could improve but I'm hoping it doesn't happen in this race, if the leaders go off and cut each others throats then Lethal Angel and or Zulu Zander may be the ones to prosper and might be worth having a covering bet on just incase the leaders tire badly nearing the finish, Davids Beauty and Pink Flamingo are 2 possible pacesetters and could do enough to make the frame but i will be putting my faith in THEGREYVTRAIN 4/1 who is a possible leader and if doing so could be hard to catch, its best time from this year plus the apprentices 7lb claim make it my top rated and it has an even faster time from 2020 which would see it winning with a little bit in hand.

With 11 runners I'm surprised there isn't at least one known pacesetter in their midst plus I cannot find anything of value to put up as a lay, George Bowen is my 3rd top rated using a time from Hamilton recorded this year, my 2nd top rated is MANIGORDO 10/1 who is usually found to be running on in the closing stages so it will be hoping there is at least a decent early pace and the jockey has a 15% win rate on this stables older horses, my top rated is RATHBONE 7/2 and this one recorded its best time this year over this c/d and if the apprentice is worth the 7lb claim then it would help its cause greatly but I will be backing them both just in case the apprentice, who is 0-4 for today's stable, rides a poor race.

A 10 runner race where half the field have been known to lead before but I think they will be setting the race up for something coming from off the pace but maybe Abel Handy could do best of those racing from the front, Never Bark my 4th top rated and Sound Of Iona who is my 3rd top rated and is usually held up for a late run so this race may be run to suit its style, both recorded their best times this year actually add my 2nd top rated Good Luck Fox into that list but this one recorded its best time this year over this c/d but I will be siding with NORTH WIND 7/2 who usually runs on strongly at the finish over this distance after tracking the leaders so this race will be right up its street.

I would like to lay *Al Asef if under 5/1 who I think struggles to stay the distance if there's a fast early pace but I am not sure what will lead or how fast a pace will be set, anything else with a negative against its name I think will all be double figures prices, I'm going with backing 2 horses in this race, LILKIAN 14/1 comes out 2nd top rated using its best time from Chelmsford and is also 2nd best on recent, 2020/21, c/d times but I do have LETHAL ANGEL 10/1 rated 2lbs higher who usually stays on strongly at the finish and this ones best time also comes from Chelmsford but that was this year which is a positive so two each way bets looks the way to go.

This isn't a great race for a class 4 affair but there is one known front runner in the shape of The Armed Man but this ones recent times have been slow and its best time looks to be where it got towed along in a fast run affair, with nothing that I can see to lay and not being able to narrow it down to anything less than dutching 4 of the runners, FLAVIUS TITUS 12/1 has a time from last year that would put it top on my figures but hasn't won a race since 2019 but might be worth an each way interest, MUTANAASEQ 10/3 is 2nd top rated but is held by DICK DATCHERY 4/1 on recent form but the former has a faster time from Ripon that makes it my 2nd top rated while the latter is only 4th top on my figures, the 4th selection I'm going to dutch is NORTH WIND 11/1 who likes to track the leaders and this one has the best trainer/jockey stats of my 4 top ratings.

Superstar sprinter BATTAASH 9/4 makes it debut for the year and if fully wound up it should take this race but I am still not convinced this course is its favoured one but it has won here and in a fast time so it should be up to the task and I expect for a 16 runner race it will be a fairly short priced favourite, it is forecast on the tissue prices to be a 15/8 shot which if we knew it was 100% ready for this race would be a steal and it did win first time out last year so I will be backing it at the price and even better now that its drifted a little bit.

There is 6 horses in this 12 runner race that have been known to lead before so it should be a fast and furious race, I will look to lay Albegone 9/2 and Debawtry 13/2 if single figure prices who I think will both need a longer distance to show their worth, True Hero has a time when it got a good tow in a fast run affair from 2019 that would make it my 2nd top rated but it hasn't won since 2018 but is a versatile sort when it comes to racing tactics, of the front runners maybe Sambucca Spirit might do best and looks to be drawn well in stall eleven, my pennies will be riding on BOUDICA BAY 9/2 who can track the leaders or be held up but stall 1 might not be helpful but if getting the rub of the green it has a chance to get back to winning ways.

Only 7 runners and I will be looking to lay both Mahale 7/2 and Top Boy 8/1 as neither seem to like fast good to firm ground and with 2 known front running types in the race they might get outpaced in the early stages and then not be able to get back into contention in this race, Big Time Maybe is one of the front running types and comes out 2nd best on my figures but the other front running type is THEGREYVTRAIN 11/2 who also happens to be my top rated and if this one does get to the front it ought to prove very hard to catch and has good 23% trainer stats and even better 38% jockey stats making me think the connections are expecting it to get back to the winners enclosure in this race.
