4:45 Goodwood Racing Tips (26th May)

GOODWOOD 4.45 

A poor turnout of just 6 runners for this class 3 dash with 2 known front running types and they are my top rated pair as well so the race should be won from the front, Angle Land might not want good to firm ground and I'm not sure what to expect from Watchya who has weakened over 6 furlongs but might get outpaced here, Some Nightmare might need further on good to firm ground and Vince Lombardi may prefer a further distance to show its best form, The Defiant is my 2nd top rated but might have got towed along in a fast run race, there is only 1lb between my top 2 but I will be backing LIHOU who has been in the better form of the pair and should prove the stronger nearing the finish.

Again a poor turnout of just 6 runners but this time there is just 1 known front running type and that is Impeach and as this one is my 2nd top rated the others could struggle to catch it but I do have BALLINTOY HARBOUR rated higher using a 2021 rating it recorded and this one runs on well at the business end of its races and likes the good to firm ground. Ventura Express is my 3rd top rated but would need to improve a few spots to win this race and I can see a reason to lay the other 3 runners as they all race as though a longer distance would improve their chances of winning a race.

5:03 Southwell Racing Tips (14th August)

SOUTHWELL 5.03 

Class 6 race with 11 runners over 5 furlongs with a couple of known front running types amongst them, the five at the bottom of the handicap all look likely to be double figure priced outsiders and look to have very little, never say never, chance of winning this race, Jet Set Go, Big Impact and Ustath may all prefer a longer distance to show their true worth, which leaves me with 3 runners, The Tron comes out in 3rd top spot and usually stays on at the finish over this distance and may stay on too late for the win here, Scale Force sits in 2nd top spot and also stays on at the finish but my top rated MARWARI 11/4 is the one that I think, hope, sets the pace to the race and if getting to the front it could prove too hard to catch, its top rated on course and distance time since this course changed to the Tapeta surface and top using other Tapeta ratings but it was from 2020 but in its defense it hasn't run over this surface at either Newcastle or Wolverhampton since then and has good trainer, 33% win ratio and jockey 19% win ratio stats with the stables older horses.

Class 5 race over 6 furlongs with 9 runners and 4, Late Arrival, Cottam lane, Dandy Spirit and Macho Pride, known front running types amongst the field and it looks a race where I will have to go with one front running type and one that comes from off the pace to cover the angles, Mostallim might be worth taking on here as a longer distance might show it in a better light, Late Arrival and Hello Zabeel are my joint 4th top rated horses, Mutanaaseq is my 3rd top rated and likes to track the leaders, I have joint top rated horses MACHO PRIDE 11/2 who being a front running type could be hard to catch if getting to the front but DREAM TOGETHER 7/1 likes to track the pacesetters and likes the good to firm ground and will need a perfect run to catch the leader but this one has the better trainer/jockey stats of the pair and I will be backing them both.

2:30 Newcastle Racing Tips (3rd August)

NEWCASTLE 2.30 

What a waste of time most of my hard work has been, there are 7 sprints today but after doing everything for each race I'm down to just 2. I'm not sure what will set the pace to this race but it could be TATHMEEN 10/1 and if it can then reproduce its best time from 2020 it would become my 2nd top rated and this is a drop in class so could lead all the way and will be carrying some of my money, I'm not sure if Slainte Minath 4/1 likes this surface as its one run here was a poor effort, as it won last time out on soft ground at Ayr it might be a shorter price than its chance merits and may be worth taking a risk and laying it, Lincoln Pride 9/2 may need further but as its only a 3yo I'm not 100% sure enough to actually lay it, unless its a short price, Zamjar 20/1 and Billy Wedge 9/1 have bits of form and could possibly make the frame but I will take a punt and back ARNOLD 13/2 who has never won on an artificial surface from 11 attempts but has made the frame in 6 of them and could break that duck here but the jockeys 0-28 record for the stable is a bit off-putting so I will go with backing the 2 horses to cover the angles.

If i knew what was going to set the pace and more importantly how strong a pace, it would make my analysis very much easier, the 3yo Sherdil has won twice over this distance at Beverley but they were both slow run affairs so not sure what it can do with a fast early pace but this race could be run to suit it, Ballintoy Harbour 18/1 and Soul Seeker 9/1 are both capable of winning this race on a going day but both have been way out of form recently so I couldn't back them and I think they will be too big a price to lay, Rhythm 12/1 and Melody King 4/1 are joint 3rd top rated on more recent form and could make the frame, Lost My Sock 5/1 usually stays on at the finish so maybe this race wont be run to suit but is my 2nd top rated, I will be backing VAN GERWEN 16/1 (EW) who usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish, it has good trainer/jockey stats and its best rating was recorded this year at Ripon and a repeat would see it back in the winners enclosure and at the price means it can be backed each way.

2:45 Chelmsford Racing Tips (24th July)

CHELMSFORD 2.45 

A nice class 2 race with 12 runners and 3 of them have been known to lead before and all 3 of them, Emperor Spirit, Tomouh and If You dare, are my co-fourth top rated horses so they will be setting the race up for something coming from off the pace, Wonder Elzaam is my 3rd top rated with Marks Bear sitting in 2nd top spot but this ones jockey is 0-18 for the stable so I will be hoping that DUBAI STATION 11/2 who is a hold up type can get a clear run when attempting to make its move and is 2 from 2 on an artificial surface.

A six runner race where Equiano Springs looks the most likely one to set the pace to the race and being my 2nd top rated horse it could prove hard to catch for most of the runners and if allowed an easy lead it could possibly pinch this race from the front, I would look to lay both *Gumdrop and Persuasion 5/1 if of value to do so, the former is a hold up type and time wise would need to improve a good few spots while the latter may need a longer distance to show its best form and this race might not be run to suit it, the one I will be backing needs good to firm ground to show its best so if the going is as required then BAY BREEZE 10/1 who usually likes to track the leaders ought to finish the stronger and get back to winning ways.

A lowly class 6 dash with 11 runners and 3 known front running types and two of them, Imperial Khan and Canaria Prince are my joint 4th and 3rd top rated horses so could possibly do enough from the front to make the frame, the betting will decide whether I find anything worthwhile to lay but it looks unlikely, Young Tiger is my other joint 4th top rated but not be able to pick up the leaders early enough to win this race, Stroxx is well weighted on its best form and usually runs ok but doesn't win as often as it possibly should, I will be siding with ELZAAL 5/1 who can be held up or track the early pacesetters and will be trying to pick up the leaders as the finish approaches and its best time from Ripon earlier this year would see it winning and the trainer does have a decent strike-rate at this course.

7:17 Hamilton Racing Tips (15th July)

HAMILTON 7.17 

On paper this looks a classy race and with 2 known front runners it should be a true run race, I could look to lay two 3yo’s in this race for small stakes, Snazzy Jazzy 11/2 who doesn't seem to like the good to firm ground and Edward Cornelius 7/1 who is better over shorter distances and that is of course if they are value to lay, there are quite a few runners that could run well in this race so my stakes will be kept low but I will be taking a punt on RATHBONE 13/2 who is one of the known front runners and if getting to the front could prove hard to catch and the trainer has a decent 21% win ratio at this course.

The early pace will most likely come from Raydmoor who can produce good times but not in this class of race but if allowed a soft lead it could possibly lead all the way but I somehow doubt it, there looks to be a couple more at the bottom of the handicap that might be outclassed, I am not sure what will win this race but I am hoping its between the 2nd and 4th in the handicap as the top weight Ghathanfar 9/4 looks a better horse over further and its win over this distance at York was a relatively slow run affair so maybe the best way to make money in this race is to lay it especially if its the favourite for the race as forecast.

1:00 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (5th July)

WOLVERHAMPTON 1.00 

A poor looking class 6 race where I cannot confidently find anything of value to lay and as for the winner that's just as vague, Charming Kid 12/1 and Secretfact 8/1 could be the one/s to set the early pace and the former could be a danger if allowed an easy lead and sets its own slower than usual pace and then kick-on and try and pinch the race from the front, Duke Of Firenze 12/1 is my 3rd top rated has good jockey stats but its 34 runners and 113 days since the stable last had a winner, Scale Force 7/1 is my 2nd top rated and will be trying to stay on at the finish the jockeys 0-4 record for the stable is a bit off-putting but the trainer has had a 2-9 winners in the last 2 weeks and might be the safest option in the race, top rated is Billy Dylan 4/1 but the trainer is 0-34 at the this course and hasn't had a winner from 13 runners over the last 180 days while the jockey is 0-9 for the stable, I think the winner will come from these three but which one I'm not sure and maybe dutching all 3 is the way to go.

WOLVERHAMPTON 1.30 Div I 

This 1st division has a couple of front runners so it should be a true run race for the class, Wrought Iron 7/2 won last time out but in a slow run affair but I'm not sure I could lay this 3yo but it doesn't look good value at the price to win this race, I could possibly lay *Rogue Storm (non-runner) who looks better suited to a shorter trip, Million Reasons 10/1 might get outpaced in the early stages and then stay on too late to catch the leaders so another possible lay, Freedom Flyer 18/1 is my 3rd top rated and one of the possible pacesetters and could do enough to make the frame as long as it doesn't get drawn into a battle for the lead in the early stages, Independence Day 6/1 could be the one to do best of those coming from off the pace being my 2nd top rated but I will be hoping that *DRISH HERO 9/2 can set the pace to the race and then prove too hard to catch for the rest of the field.

This 2nd division only has 1 known front runner, I cannot see much to lay that I think be of value to do so but the betting will be the final decider, Youllovemewheniwin and Salta Resta are my joint 4th top rated horses, sitting in 3rd top spot is Griggy 7/1 but this one can find the trip a bit too far if there's a fast early pace which might happen in this race and the same applies to Gustav Graves 4/1 who sits in 2nd top spot but I am hoping that PORTELET BAY 13/2 who is the aforementioned front runner and my top rated so if setting the right pace should be able to keep the others at bay and lead all the way.

A field of 8 so lets hope they all run although I don't think I can see and each way bet, I cannot see anything of value to lay in this race so lets look for the winner, Chairmanoftheboard 6/1 is my 3rd top rated but that is using its best time from 2020 so not sure if it can repeat that rating so maybe I was wrong and this one could be worth laying, Recall The Show 9/2 is my 2nd top rated but that was recorded in lower class races than this one so maybe another I could look to lay but that's a bit risky if LAMPANG 10/1 doesn't do what I expect, it is my top rated and its the only known front runner in the race so hopefully it can lead all the way here and does have decent trainer/jockey stats.

A field of 12 with 3 known front running types, I can eliminate 5 of the runners as having virtually, never say never, no chance of winning but will all be double figure prices, King Crimson 6/1 is a possible pacesetter and my 4th top rated so could go well but the jockeys 0-10 record for the stable is off-putting, Hot Hot Hot 5/1 comes out 3rd best and will be trying to stay on at the finish but its only won once from 16 previous runs on turf and the jockeys record is 1-22 for the stable, Arzaak 4/1 is my 2nd top rated but its 141 days and 50 runners since the stable last had a winner, my top rated is Lethal Angel 16/1 but the trainer is 0-7 at this course and hasn't had a winner in the last month from 21 runners, I think the winner is most likely to come from my top four ratings but with them all having negatives against them I'm not sure which one will win so dutching the four of them might be the way to go or if there's no value in dutching them then maybe leaving the race alone might be best or is an each way bet on the outsider of the 4 the way to go. Not bet.

2:15 Pontefract Racing Tips (27th June)

A field of 6 for this dash but with no known front running types in the race it always puts me on the backfoot and means my stakes will kept fairly low, Rhythm 15/2 might need further and this race might not be run to suit its racing style, Coleys Koko 14/1 and Lady Celia 7/1 are capable of producing a good speed figure but usually in lower class races than today's class 4 affair, Esken Rose 6/1 hasn't any distance form to its name but has faded at 6 furlongs so today's distance might be ideal, Elegant Erin 7/4 would need to improve time wise to win this race, it has won its last 3 races and might now be in the grip of the official handicapper so I will put my faith in HAVEAGOMECCA 3/1 who has decent trainer/jockey stats and could go one place better than when it finished second last time out.

I was going to omit this race from tonight's blog and as for looking for the winner I am leaving this race alone it was only when i saw the betting that I noticed how short in price True Mason 10/3 was and at that price will be looking to lay it, it did win last time out at Doncaster on good going but if the going here is good to firm as forecast then this horse who hasn't produced its best before when on the faster ground may struggle in this race.

The 2 3yo’s in this race could be dangerous, Sterling Knight 10/3 is my 3rd top rated using a c/d time recorded earlier this year while Witch Hunter 5/2 has never run on good or good to firm ground before but has a rating from the AW at Wolverhampton that would make it my 2nd top rated but price wise they are bot way too short in my opinion so I will stick with the proven and put my money on INDIAN CREAK 9/2 who has a rating over this c/d recorded this year that would see it winning this race a shade cosily but once again there isn't any known front running types in this race which is always a worry and means I will be keeping my stakes fairly low in this race as well.

Just 8 runners which is ideal if they all run, Sixcor 11/4 is my 4th top rated and has been in good form lately so could go well again here and be trying to stay on at the finish but I doubt it will get to the leader in time to win this race and at the price I will look to lay it, Hey Mr 10/1 is another who may need further but will be trying to stay on at the finish, Birkenhead 5/1 is my 3rd top rated and I usually held up for a late run, Sound Of Iona 20/1 is always capable of winning at this level but has been in poor form time wise recently and usually gives a signal when its coming into form so my money will be riding on GOWANBUSTER 11/2 who is the only known front running type in this race and if given an easy lead and allowed to set the pace it could lead all the way here.

A 6 runner race with two known front runners amongst them, King Of Tonga 10/3 may need further to shine and Red Walls 9/2 might prefer some cut in the ground so I will look to lay both of them if of value, I've only got 1lb between Birkenhead 13/2 and a possible pacesetter in High Security 11/2 although I think its doubtful it will be able to lead in this race, Lost My Sock 7/1 is my 2nd top rated and usually likes to track the leaders and then stay on at the finish but my top rated is the front running DAPPER MAN 3/1 who is more than capable of leading all the way in this race its trainer has a reasonable strike rate at this course and its run 6 days ago will have got it primed to win this race.

A class 4 dash over the minimum trip but I can only see Araifjan 9/1 as the possible pacesetter but I doubt it can lead all the way and may struggle to even make the frame but never say never, even though it won last time out in a slow time on the AW, Mulzim 9/2 may prefer a longer trip and the make-up of this race might not help it so it could be worth laying, Full Authority 8/1, Mohareb 25/1 and Phoenix Star 9/1 also may need further to show their best, Celsius 8/1 comes out 3rd best on my figures so could make the frame, Pettochside 10/1 ran well last time out when finishing 3rd in a slightly higher class race but may have been flattered in that race but could make the frame again if in the right mood but it is a 13yo who seems on a downward spiral, my money will be invested on HAN SOLO BERGER 9/2 who can be held up or track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish.

I cannot see a natural front runner in this race but Angel Eyes 20/1 has led before when nothing else wants to but its still a maiden after 37 runs so not for me and the bookies agree, Orchid Rose has a time from Ripon last year that is now beginning to look like a bit of a fluke rating where it got towed along in a fast run affair, the betting will decide if I lay anything in this race but, Stronsay 10/1, Stroxx 10/1, Lord Of The Glen 8/1 and Gorgeous Gabolina 14/1 are ones to consider looking at the early tissue prices but need to be a single figure price near the off time, I've got joint top rated horses in Koropick who has only won once from 20 runs on grass while the trainer is 0-13 at this course and the jockey is 0-2 for the stable so I will be backing the other top rated horse MOKAMAN 8/1 who’s trainer has a 26% win ratio at this course and the jockey has a 17% win ratio for the stable with the only downside being that the trainer hasn't had a winner in the last 41 days from 27 runners which will temper the strength of my bet.

An 8 runner race with 3 known front runners amongst them but I think they will set it up for something coming from off the pace, I could look to lay Penny Pot Lane, maybe not this class, Oso Rapide 10/3 who has shown very little time wise and the same applies to Cottam Lane 10/3 even when winning, Bossipop, Jordan Electrics, Lady Nectar and Mutanaaseq could all go well and battle to make the frame but i will be backing the top weight BOWMAN 11/2 who if it can reproduce its Carlisle time it would be winning this race a shade cosily.

The early pace might be set by Ben Macdul and/or Modular Magic either could go well with an easy lead but the former would need to improve time wise while the latter might be outclassed in this race, I will look to lay Saluti 11/2 who might prefer a longer trip and this race might not be run to suit it, the trainer Paul Midgley has 3 runners in this race and I think he could win the race with either INDIAN SOUNDS 10/3 or BALLINTOY HARBOUR 15/2 who both like to track the leaders and then stay on strongly at the finish and the latter does seem to need good to firm ground to show its best form, i will be backing them both in this race.

I hope all take part so I can have an each way bet in this race, I would look to lay Jorvik Prince who may need further and is better on the AW tracks, Gorgeous General 8/1 who also may need further to shine and Muatadel 11/2 who doesn't seem to like good to firm ground, the early pace might be set by Fossos who is my 3rd top rated or Equate both being 3yo’s could improve, Newgate Angel comes out 2nd top using a 2020 time my money will be on YOUNG TIGER 12/1 who comes out on top for just this year and its better time from 2020 makes it my top rated on overall figures and luckily the price is big enough for me to have an each way wager.

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.30

There's only 1 horse aged above four in this race so I am a bit short of data to be confident in this race and the funny thing is the oldest horse in the race *KATHERINE PLACE 6/1 recorded a fast time at Chelmsford when it won last time out and will probably be the favourite but it has been found a good opportunity to follow up that win and its best time over this course and distance is good enough for 2nd top spot and being the most natural front runner in the field it could lead all the way but stall 10 isn't ideal if others change their usual style and try to lead as well, the only horse with a higher speed figure is ROMAN ENCOUNTERS 14/1 (EW) who’s figure was recorded on this surface but at Newcastle and if this one is an each way price I will definitely be backing it.

A 7 runner race with no known front runners which is always a pain, I will look to lay Be Proud 5/1 who may need further to show its best and this race might not be run at a fast early gallop which wont help its cause, another possible lay is Manigordo 5/1 as I think it might be slightly outclassed in this race and the stable has another runner GOLDEN APOLLO 4/1 in the race who has a better chance of winning this race and will be staying on strongly at the business end of the race, my top rated horse is EMBOUR 5/1 so has to considered as a possible winner and if it wasn't for the trainers poor 0-46 record at this course it would most likely have been my only bet in the race.

I can see 2 horses in this race that like to front run in the top weight who might not be good enough to hold on for the win even if it does get to the front and MACHREE 8/1 who could be very hard to catch if it does get to the front but it isn't my top rated so I will also be backing SOUND OF IONA 11/2 who is usually held up for a late run and this race could be run to suit its best racing tactic, I will look to lay Global Humor 5/1 who has done all of its winning over longer distances and may stay on too late to win this race.

A nice looking 8 runner class 4 race with 2 horses Equinao Springs and the top weight Aljari being known as a front running types but I doubt the latter can hold on for the win and its best speed figures have come from AW races but would still need to improve on those speed figures to win this race while the former comes out 3rd best on my figures so could do enough to make the frame, Louie de Palma is my 2nd top rated using a 2020 time at Windsor which seems to be a favoured course for it as its best this year was also recorded there, top rated is SPIRITED GUEST 7/1 who usually likes to track the leaders before staying on the strongest at the finish.

Unlucky for some is this 13 runner race but luckily there is 3 known front running types in this race, I'm not sure price wise if there's anything worth laying but the betting will guide me more on the day, Singe Anglais has been in decent form lately but the trainers 1-42 win ratio at this course is off-putting it could possibly make the frame being my 2nd top rated but maybe its got a future target in mind, Mr Orange could go well if able to reproduce its best 2020 speed figure as could the 3yo Royal Advice, MOTAWAAZY 5/1 who is in real good form lately could set the pace here and comes out in 3rd top spot just 1lb from being my 2nd top rated and if getting to the front could be hard to catch and it does have good jockey stats, my top rated horse DENY KNOWLEDGE 11/2 is a versatile type when it comes to racing tactics and that includes leading but it could be held up here for a late run while it also has good jockey stats so I will back them both to cover the angles of a front runner and a finishing type.

For a class 3 race this is a very tricky looking race where I cannot find anything to lay and also cannot narrow it down to less than 2 horses, Victory Angel is my 2nd top rated on just 2021 times and 3rd best of overall figures so could make the frame, KING OF STARS 10/3 is the one i expect to set the pace to this race and is my top rated on just 2021 speed figures which is good enough for 2nd top spot on my overall figures so has to be respected while INDIAN SOUNDS 15/2 has been a bit below its best so far this year but if reproducing its best time from 2020 at Bath it becomes my top rated so also has to be respected and once again i am going with 2 bets to cover the angles.

4:55 Pontefract Racing Tips (4th August)

PONTEFRACT 4.55 

A 7 runner race with one known front runner in Stay Smart and could go well with an easy lead, apart from Runninwild the rest have bits of form that are closely rated on my figures and I cannot say much about any of them, I will be backing CANFORD BAY 5/1 who can be held up for a late run or track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish but it has poor trainer/jockey stats which worries me so any stakes will be kept on the low side.

This is a class 6 race and its very hard to analyse to much of a conclusion, I'm not sure I could put up any lays with any confidence so I think the way to go in this race is with dutching 3 horses, CAZEVA PRINCESS 13/2 is one of the 2 known front running types in the race and comes out 2nd top rated using just 2021 times over this distance but the jockeys 0-3 record isn't great, KNOCKABOUT QUEEN 7/2 is the one that comes out top rated on just 2021 times but the jockeys 0-12 record for the stable doesn't fill me with confidence, top rated using a 2020 time is LINCOLN RED 5/1 but this one has poor trainer 0-10 record with their older horses and the jockey is 1-28 so my stakes will be kept low.

In this race I will look to lay Dream Together who prefers good to firm going but I doubt that will happen here and even if it does it would still need to improve time wise to win this race, the bottom weight Mr Orange comes out 3rd best on my figures but has been in poor form recently, OBEE JO 8/1 is my top rated using just 2021 times and has good trainer/jockey stats and with the jockeys 5lb claim it moves to top spot, my original top rated was/is *HIGHLY SPRUNG 4/1 who will try to lead all the way and it might get to the front on its own looking at the make-up of this race and with an easy lead it could prove very hard to catch and I will back them both to cover the angles.

An 8 runner race where 5 of them have been known to lead before so the question is, will they go off too fast and fade nearing the finish? I hope not, but if all 5 of the front runners do fade then Clashaniska 5/1 could be the one to prosper but I hope not and I will back two horses one that's top rated on 2021 times, SHESADABBER 6/1, and HAVEONEYERSELF 10/3 who is top rated using a time recorded over this course and distance in 2020 and this one has a decent jockey record on this stables older horses. 

3:00 Pontefract Racing Tips (25th July)

PONTEFRACT 3.00 

A poor turnout of just 7 runners for this class 3 race over 6 furlongs, I will look to lay, Zumurud 4/1 who needs to improve time wise and hasn't won since 2019 plus it also has poor trainer/jockey stats, and Afandam 4/1 who has recorded only slow times in its recent runs and its best time came form back in 2018 and that would need to be improved upon to win this race, the top weight Corinthia Knight 7/4 is forecast to be the hot favourite according to the tissue prices but this trip seems to be too much for it on good to firm ground and there's 3 front running types in the race so I will likely lay all 3 of them, I've got Marks Choice and EQUIANO SPRINGS 20/1 (EW) as my joint top rated using just 2021 times but the former may not like the ground if it is good to firm but I will be backing the latter and its a shame there's not enough runners for there to be 3 places if having an each way wager,I will also be backing the other possible pacesetter in the shape of HIGHLY SPRUNG 7/1 as it has good trainer/jockey stats just like my other selection, I'm not sure which one will prevail but I'm hoping that one of them can lead from start to finish.

With 8 runners in this race I was hoping to find an each way value punt, if the bottom weight Ruby Wonder is a single figure price, which I doubt will happen, then I would lay it as i think it will need this run for fitness and its form hasn't been great anyway, Van Gerwen comes out in 3rd top spot, might be worth an each way punt, and along with my 2nd top rated Khabib 11/8 they like to track the leaders and I will most likely be backing the latter as a covering bet just in case the only known front running type AUCKLAND LODGE 7/1 doesn't reproduce its best, it has won 3 races from 12 on turf but hasn't been placed in any of the other 9 so it looks like it wins or isn't in the mix so I will back the win part only.

A field of 17 with 4 known front runners amongst them, the trainer Jim Goldie has 4 runners in this race so I'm not sure what his intentions are but going just with jockey bookings Primos Comet 12/1 may do best of the quartet but Sound Of Iona and Tanasoq both have better speed figures, the former Sound Of Iona has a poor jockey stat of 0-8, while I will be looking to lay his other runner Global Humor 8/1 who has done all its winning over a longer distance, its a wide open race and not bad for a class 5 affair, any of Glory Fighter, Gunnerside, Never Dark, Good Luck Fox, Water Of Leith and Economic Crisis have pieces of form that could see them running well and there might well be an each way punt amongst them but i will be putting my trust in MODULAR MAGIC 8/1 who won 2 runs ago at Ayr over this distance in a good time on good to firm ground but didn't seem as happy last time out on just good ground so I'm hoping the rain stays away and with good to firm ground I am hoping it can lead all the way.

A 13 runner class 5 race with a couple of known front runners and I think Breaking Records will be the pacesetter and could do enough to make the frame on its best time from 2020 being my joint 3rd top rated along with Round The Island who will be trying to stay on nearing the finish, I've got HURSTWOOD 6/1 as my 2nd top rated and to help its cause it being ridden by a 7lb claiming apprentice who has 1-3 record for the stable so it might be a positive booking but I do have MR ORANGE 12/1 (EW) rated a few spots higher but this ones best time was recorded last year and so far this year it hasn't shown much but this one is capable of bouncing back to form without prior warning and could be worth an each way punt.

A 7 runner race with 3 known front running types and two of them Faustus and Lethal Blast are capable of winning this race from the front, I will look to lay Stake Acclaim who seems to prefer a bit of cut in the ground, Ehrmann hasn't any form on good to firm going so not sure what to expect from it, Red Alert has a time from 2018 that would make it my 2nd top rated but hasn't been in good form time wise since then, if pushed i will side with FAUSTUS 7/2 but it would only be for a small stake.

Only 6 runners but a hard race to analyse and not much to say about the race, AL SIMMO 9/4 and/or ARAMIS GREY 5/2 could set the pace to the race and the race might well be won from the front, the former is my top rated one a time from this year and is a more natural looking pacesetter while the latter is versatile with its racing tactics which does include leading.

I cannot find anything of value to lay in this race, the only known front runner is Zim Baby but it seems to prefer some cut in the ground, I wouldn't put anyone off backing any of, Atalantas Boy 12/1, Chairmanoftheboard 16/1, One Night Stand 9/2 or Dazzling Dan 13/2 who all have pieces of form that would put them in the mix and maybe an each way wager might pay dividends but i will be backing TINTO 7/1 who finished 2nd last time out and if able to reproduce its best from Newmarket last year then it could goon better in this race and this one has a positive looking good jockey booking.

A hard race to analyse to a conclusion but I will look to lay Thrilla In Manila 15/8 favourite who did win last time out in a class 6 race but I am not convinced it will be able to reproduce it in this class 5 affair and it looks poor value at the price and another lay is Wades Magic 4/1 who doesn't seem to reproduce its best form on good to firm ground, as for the winner I will dutch 3 horses with each way bets, MAJOR PUSEY 12/1 who will one day manage to hold on when it leads, ECONOMIC CRISIS 16/1 who will be trying to stay on at the finish and BLAZING HOT 16/1 another possible front runner so I hope one of them can lead all the way but also cover the angles with one I think will stay on at the finish.

LINGFIELD 3.15 

Only 7 runners but luckily there is a known front runner in Spurofthemoment who is my 2nd top rated on 2020/21 times and also 2nd top on overall figures so could go well from the front and if allowed an easy lead it could even win the race and it has good trainer/jockey stats, I will look to lay Kingholm 7/2 who maybe better over a shorter trip and also may not, Recall The Show is my top rated on just 2021 times and that's good enough for 3rd top spot overall but I will be siding with STRONG POWER 15/2 who is my 2nd top rated on just 2021 times but its best time from 2020 recorded at Leicester and the trainer is 5-9 with runners at this course.

I will look to lay both Aleef 13/2 and Shecandoo 5/2 in this race as both look as though further would suit them better and also have poor trainer stats and the former also has poor jockey stats, Katherine Place is my 2nd top rated on a time from 2020 over this c/d but its changed trainer since then and this trainer is 0-14 here and also has poor jockey stats of 1-24, Tilsworth Rose is versatile when it comes to its racing tactics and is my 3rd top rated on overall figures but its another one with poor trainer/jockey stats, my money will be riding on HAVEONEYERSELF 9/2 who is my top rated on its best 2020 time and the jockey is 1-3 for the stable and is also the natural front runner in the race so I'm hoping it can lead from start to finish in this race.

I cannot find anything to lay that I think will be a single figure price and the bottom 6 in the handicap all look a bit outclassed in this race, there is 3 possible front runners but both Marve and Gullane One would need to improve on the clock to win this race, Mr Orange is my 3rd top rated and this one is usually held up for a late run, Final Frontiere sits in 2nd top spot and can be held up or track the leaders but I am hoping that my top rated MR WAGYU 4/1 can lead here and if getting to the front it could prove hard to catch.

This is a tricky looking class 3 race with a few who I am not really sure what to expect from them but i have positive marks against 4 of the runners names but only A Sure Welcome 9/2 with a negative and one I will look to lay this one at that price, Diligent Lady could be the pacesetter here and could be dangerous if allowed a soft lead and does come out 3rd top on my figures, the top weight Yimou is my 4th top rated with Thegreatestshowman sitting in 2nd top spot on my figures but my money will be riding on *SPOOF 5/1 who obviously is my top rated and has good trainer/jockey stats so I'm expecting it to go well in this race.

A slightly strange race where one set of times from just one race dominates my speed figures, i will look to lay Obee Jo 9/2 who may need further to show its best form and Arnold 8/1 who hasn't won on turf since 2018 as they both look shorter in price than they should be so value to lay, Auckland Lodge is a possible pacesetter along with one other but would need to improve time wise to win this race, Young Tiger is my 3rd top rated using a time from 2020 at Doncaster but I have DAPPER MAN 8/1 as my 2nd top rated and it won comfortably when it had CANFORD JOY 12/1 behind it but the latter is weighted to reverse the form here but with the former being the other known front runner and could win again if allowed an easy lead but as I said the figures look a little bit strange so I will keep my stakes low.

PONTEFRACT 3.50 

A 7 runner race where i will be backing the one that is my top rated and also the only known front runner in the race, the top weight True Mason might struggle to stay the distance with a fast early pace so I will look to lay this one, Mr Orange hasn't shown much in its last 3 runs but has a time from last year over this c/d that would make it my 3rd top rated horse, Final Frontier seems to be on a downward spiral class-wise but does have a time from last year that puts it in 2nd top spot but will be hoping that HIGHLY SPRUNG 11/2 can get away smartly and then lead all the way to the line, it has good trainer and jockey stats as both have an 18% win ratios.

A class 4 race with 11 runners and being a 5 furlong dash there's 4 known front runners, I cannot see anything I could lay with any confidence, I've got 5 horses rated within 6lbs at the top of my speed figures, Saaheq is 5th best but that was using a time from 2019 but is in good form having won 7 days ago, Diligent Lady in 4th top spot along with Outrage and Kick On Kick On in joint 2nd top position are all possible pacesetters so it should be truly fast early pace and they might go off a bit too fast and this is a very stiff course so they might play into the hands of ROSE HIP 8/1 who likes to track the leaders and then stay on resolutely at the business end of the race and is dropped in class compared to where it was running last year and hopefully its run 12 days ago will have put it spot on fitness wise for this race.

This looks a tricky race with just 2 horses with recorded (fast enough) figures on my graphs and both of them are pretty low ratings, the top weight Fard has been known to lead before and it is one of the two horses in the race with a recorded time and it was from this year at Windsor, I would need a price of 11/2 at least before it would be worth taking the risk so if not this race is maybe best left alone. 

CHELMSFORD 6.40 

It is a shame there is only 7 runners but there is front runners among them, Show Me A Sunset may struggle to stay the distance with a fast early pace so I will look to lay it while Eagle Creek seems to want further to show its best so another I could lay, Araifjan has a time from Lingfield last year that would make it top rated by 2lbs but I am beginning to think this ones best time was a bit of a fluke where it got towed along in a fast run affair and might need further to win, I think Endowed is a possible pacesetter but races as though further might suit it better and might not have the pace to lead at this distance against my selection, One Hart will be running on at the finish and could make the frame but i am hoping that SPIRIT OF MAY 11/1 can lead here from start to finish, it was pestered on its last run and never got its head in front but a repeat of its run the time before that would see it back to winning ways and the trainer does well at this course.

1:30 Pontefract Racing Tips (19th April)

PONTEFRACT 1.30 

Not a great days racing for me, either small fields or very little data to work with makes it a day to keep stakes low:- Only 6 runners in this 1st race but luckily 2 of them have been known to lead before and i think that Caspian Prince may do best of the pair being my 2nd top rated, there isn't much between the other four runners in the race except for INDIAN SOUNDS 7/1 who usually lies to track the leaders and then stay on resolutely nearing the finish and is 3lbs higher in my ratings so should catch the leader very close to the finish.

There's four runners that have been known to lead in this race with just 6 runners and my top 3 ratings are all possible pacesetters, I have got Outrage and Kick On Kick On as my joint 2nd top rated but I have got Union Rose rated 5lbs higher on a rating from last year but its time from this year was quite a bit lower so I am not quite sure what to expect.

I don't expect DAPPER MAN 8/11 will be much of a price but it is my top rated and the only known front runner in the race and its time recorded at Ripon would see it winning the race a little cosily, looking for a forecast I would side with the top weight Mutabaahy 5/1 who comes out 2nd best on my figures and does usually run on at the business end of its races but it is 2nd in the betting so even the forecast isn't going to pay much.

This is a poor poor race split into 2 divisions and the 2nd division is too bad to find anything worthwhile, in this division I have got very little to work with speed figure wise, I have found one in this 1st division that has a time from last year at Yarmouth which is good for a class 6 handicap so if, DELEGATE THE LADY 10/1 (EW) reproduces its best it could run well here and I'm hoping it will be worth a small each way punt.

CHECK THE GOING BEFORE BETTING. 

In all reality, I should be leaving this race alone as there is too little form for me to be confident with any selection. However, there's one horse that stands out on those that I can analyse properly and it looks a stupidly big price on the tissue prices so I will be having a small and I do mean small, each way punt on *LADY OF ARAN at 33/1 (EW).

There's a few with limited form to work with which reduces the size of any stakes, the early pace could well be set by Jack The Truth and it could easily do enough from the front to hold on for a place and if allowed a soft lead it could possibly pinch the race but I will stick my pennies on FOX HILL 9/1 (EW) who will likely track the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish and being drawn next door to the probable frontrunner it should get a good tow into the race and worth an each-way bet at the price.

This 2nd division has a few less unexposed sorts but its still a tricky looking race, there's 3 that have been known to lead before and maybe Alsvinder can do best of those racing to the fore and its best time from 2018 would make it my 2nd top-rated but its form since then hasn't been up to that level but I will be backing MUTBAAHY 4/1 who will be trying to run on strongly at the business end of the race and if reproducing its best time from Catterick this year would see it back in the winner's enclosure.

There's only 5 runners and 2 of them like to set the pace, looking at the tissue prices I am surprised Zapper Cass is forecast to be the favourite as this distance sometimes looks to be on the short side for it, Secretfact is top-rated by 2lb’s using its 2019 time but hasn't been in good form so far this year and I am thinking that PINK FLAMINGO 2/1 could lead here and if doing so it could be very hard to catch.

Will all 16 runners take part? I can see 3 that have been known to lead so it should be a true run race, looking at the lightly raced types in the race none seem fancied according to the tissue prices which leaves me with my top 4 ratings, WILD FLOWER 7/1 is 4th top rated the jockey is making their debut for the stable but the stable is 0-14 at this course, TILSWORTH ROSE 13/2 is in 3rd top spot and is one of the frontrunners it could go very well from the front BUT again its a jockey making their debut for the stable but the trainer's record is poor at 0-26, the topweight KATHERINE PLACE 5/1 is 2nd top rated in this instance the jockey is 0-2 for the stable but the trainer's record is 0-12 here at Lingfield, my top rated is DARK SIDE DREAM 10/1 and should be my selection, the trainer is 1-12 at this track but the jockey is 0-9, so as you can see my top 4 all have negatives against their names, I will probably go with dutching all 4 of them but slightly in favour of my top rating.
